I came in during the Friends & Family 40% off sale and had to leave a review because the service here is truly unmatched. Even though the store was busy, I felt like I had a full personal shopping experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive. They checked on me multiple times in the fitting room, brought different sizes and styles without hesitation, and even helped me coordinate full outfits while I was shopping throughout the store. At least five different employees offered to bring items to the fitting room for me so I didn't have to carry everything around, which made the whole experience feel so easy and elevated. The store itself is super clean, very organized, and one of the biggest Banana Republic locations I've been to. There's always a fitting room available, which makes a huge difference when you're trying on a lot during a sale. Everyone who works here is genuinely friendly and helpful, not pushy at all, just very professional and welcoming. They also validate parking, which is such a nice bonus when shopping at the Grove. Doing so much shopping on line, it's easy to forget that brick-and-mortar shopping can result in some amazing customer service. Amazing is how I would describe my recent shopping experience in the BR at the Grove. Eat first at Farmer's Market for shopping fuel. Then make your way down the Caruso-owned lane where all the shops are open for business. This Banana is huge, but no need to run around. Just tell someone what you have in mind and they are all over you, getting exactly what you want and bringing it over; it's awesome. I was looking for some shoes, which led to a shirt, which led to bedding and pillows, and finally a faux fur coat (see pic). Every since item was brought over to me and my posse by the friendliest staff around. Yes, I bought everything. There was a huge holiday sale going on so the pricing was extra good, given what I think is the high quality of their stuff. Susie + Yuru = a 5-star Banana Republic experience! So, in my quest to look slightly presentable at increasing number of parent nights, I decided to look for a leather jacket. Woah, you must be thinking. Trust me, I was thinking the same thing. But somehow, after browsing on the BR Website, I found a bomber jacket that looked awesome. So off we went to the Pasadena location! ... except, they didn't have the right size. But you know who did? The Grove. So, after driving like Ben Hur, we safely and successfully made it here. Long story short, the jacket fit - but you must acquit! (Bc there was a scratch). So I ended up ordering online. Brought the online order back to the store, met up with Yuru the tailor (who was able to take the leather sleeve in!), but then something was nagging at me. Turns out, in store price was $50 higher than online price for the same leather jacket! Here's the best part - because I was nice to the manager, she honored the online price, and that basically made tailoring free! (Normally, taking in a jacket costs $50) This was a fantastic experience. I purchased a beautiful $200 sweater and after one wear on the day on the purchase date, I noticed a huge hole from a rip at the seam. I attempted to exchange it with receipt within 72 hours of purchase. Becca, the Grove store manager rudely questioned that the item didn't have tags and she hesitated to accept the 3 day old merchandise. This was surprising because I attempted to exchange it at another location but because they didn't have my size, they sent me to her store. They even vouched for me by phone with her before my drive over. I am writing because I did not feel comfortable with her tone nor her dismissive mannerism. As a manager, she should stand behind the products, especially those one off's that don't hold up for more than one wear. I am not upset about the quality of the stitching, I'm highly offended that she treated me as if it were my fault. I'd only worn it for 3 hours. I deserved a friendly disposition and an even exchange. (That's was another pain point. Because of a $2 reward, she was going to charge me to make the exchange. We call this "petty.") Perhaps she was having a bad day but I left the store feeling undervalued as a customer and I'm hesitant to spend money there. Customer service is kindness, patience and fairness. Really disappointed in this company and it's policies. I tried to return a linen shirt that was worn once, only to try it on, and I immediately decided to return it and they wouldn't let me return it. They stated the tag was not on and it "smelled of perfume". I had an underarm deodorant stick in the bag, by accident which I showed the rep. That is why it probably smelled of deodorant. Anyways, they said I couldn't return it. I shop with this company a lot, but definitely not anymore. There are lot of other great brands and retailers that don't nickel and dime consumers. Usually when I buy stuff I try to buy in bulk and then if it doesn't work out I return it. Months after I bought these wonderful shorts they're called the Aiden short, I put them on and they felt so great that I thought wow I really like the color and the style and the way they fit let me check online. Easiest shopping I've ever done in my life. It took me about five minutes in total to find the shorts find all the colors they didn't have in the store make the purchase with Apple Pay and still sipping the rest of my tea. The staff here is amazing! They're all so friendly and helpful. It's unfortunate that I forgot their names. but one elderly associate spoke to me in Spanish and was just too kind about me practicing my broken Spanish to her. She helped me sign up to be on the email list for deals and was so nice about it. She's very family like. The other two girls were at the cash register and one was organizing the front area. The associates that work at this particular Banana Republic are AWESOME! I was first approached by Lily who asked if I wanted to start a dress in room. She took my clothes off my hands so I could continue to shop. Once I was situated in the dressing room I found that I needed some different sizes and Lily was so helpful in searching their system to help me find those items. She was also able to provide me with details of their tailoring. When I went to check out I was greeted by Monica, who is very professional and friendly. She asked if I would be using my Banana Republic credit card and mentioned that I will receive an additional 10% discount on top of the current promotion of 20% store discount. Then she asked if I had any rewards and I told her that I could not get online so she directed me to the store's Wifi address which made it possible for me to use my rewards. Banana Republic, aquired by Gap Inc. in 1983 is quickly becoming a mainstream luxury clothing retailer (http://www.bananarepublic.gap.com) with almost 650 stores in 32 countries. If you visit any popular mall or shopping center, odds are that they're going to have this retail store there. But seriously, when did they relocate this store right smack in the heart of the Grove? I mean, it's like a department store now with access to two floors (Women's on the 1st, Men's on the 2nd). Better think twice if you want to take the long white staircase in the middle of the store. Clothes and accessories here are expensive. The best thing to do is to shop when they have sales or coupons available. Don't get me wrong, the style or the look that you want is here but without a discount, the overall bill can take a chunk out of your wallet. If you're looking for larger sizes, this store might not be for you. Generally, the fit of the clothes is for a skinnier, petite frame. The following review is based on the great service I had received at this store location. I wasn't too crazy about this place a couple years ago, until the other day where my perspective changed for the better. Who is responsible for this? A manager named Tiffany who exceeded my expectations. Earlier that day, I received a package from their website, but not only was it packaged unnecessarily in a box that a large microwave could fit it (this was for footwear and a tank top), there was no invoice included. I guess Quality Assurance, if they even exist here, was smoking serious crack that day. Frustrated since both items had to be returned due to an ill fit, I called the 800-number and was 'assisted' by an unhelpful person named Sara(h). This dope didn't really give any helpful information (felt like I was talking to a Time Warner Cable rep) whatsoever, so I made a call over to this Grove location, hoping maybe they could help me out. Tiffany answered when I asked for a manager, and I was lucky I got a hold of her. Imagine a manager answering the phone! This was already a good sign. Between several interruptions (she was the only manager on at that time), she was actually able to track down my order for me using my credit card. I made it there within 20 minutes or so and was greeted by a couple of smiling associates at the counter. Tiffany was one of them, who processed my transaction smoothly, and I was on my way within a few minutes. I knew she had to break by 2:30 so I wanted to make sure I got there in a timely fashion since she was so helpful to me over the phone. This is theeee Banana Republic location on the Westside. As a result, the 5 stars are relative, but this location is so far and beyond the best location on the Westside that it deserves the Woohoo! Forget Century City (selection too small) and Westside Pavilion (selection even smaller), this BR actually has some breathing room and plenty of sizes. It doesn't feel squished and everything is always well-maintained and laid out. While I know one person can be the source, I hate going to BR's and having the sale section look like someone broke in and started throwing crap all over the place. Here, they actually try and arrange the sale section to look just like the other sections where humans are shopping. While it's not the mecca of BR's, like The Grove's Abercrombie is to that world of frayed clothing, but it is very, very good. There are always a lot of people around trying to start dressing rooms for you or they're just trying to earn their dollars by putting their name on the clothes that they're holding on for you at the register - always helpful. Don't waste your time with the other locations on the Westside because chances are you'll just end up here anyways looking for the sizes that weren't there at the other locations. read more

Can I give a zero for customer service? I purchased a linen blouse ($85) at the Banana Republic at Green Hills Mall while visiting Nashville. The blouse didnt work for me so within 1 week, I called the store to verify the address to return the blouse with tags and receipt in tact. I was told that returns can only be made in person. I explained that I live 2 hours from Nashville. I called BR.com, explained the situation and asked how I can make this return. The response was that items purchased in stores, can only be made in person. They elevated my request and agreed to allow me to make the return by mail in exchange for a BR gift card. I mailed the return, noting my case # on the inside and outside of the package on 6/27/23 and was never notified it was received. Upon follow up, was told it was received and I should expect a BR credit within the next 6-8 weeks. It is now almost 8 weeks and I have heard nothing. I have called BR customer service 3 times and each time have been told that they must transfer me to another dept. to handle this. Each time I held for 30 minutes before finally hanging up. Have I dropped into another century? Has BR dropped into another century? Just send me my merchandise credit BR! BTW, I've shopped at BR literally since they opened their doors decades ago. Have also bought probably 50 pairs of GAP jeans in my life. I'm 68 and I'm now a former BR customer. Shopping at banana republic makes me want to be a different person, a person who obsesses over their wardrobe. Banana Republic is a clothing store that sells pricy clothes and accessories that are on the preppy to dressy side. The men's items are generally nice with good quality. The clothes currently are aimed for skinny folk. I didn't like their jeans but I liked the polo I tried on. Their shorts frightened me but the dress shirts seemed pretty stylish. The service is a greeting around every corner but that's how the GAP company runs things. So I came to the Grove and noticed they had a Banana Republic and was so excited. My first experience was just OK. The lady who helped me with my shoes was nice, however, when I went upstairs to shop around, the guy that I asked a question to seemed to have a bit of a snooty attitude. Regardless, I still purchased my shoes and went on my way. I came back to this location because they do have the best selection out of all the locations I have gone to, and still experienced a "blah" energy from the employees I interacted with. The employee Abby who helped me in front of the store was nice, however, the girl that worked the fitting room was mediocre, and the cashier I had was just a complete disappointment. She never once smiled or looked up at me and at the end of the transaction, she never said thank you. I even stood there for about 30 seconds after my transaction to see if she would say thank you. Instead, she looked AROUND me and said "next customer". I left the store but still had a bad taste in my mouth. I called the manager and expressed my issue with my experience and of course she apologized and then let me know that the girl who was my cashier was "brand new". That is no excuse for how a customer should be treated..A PAYING customer at that. I am a regular Banana Republic customer and have never experienced that type of behavior. You would think if an employee is "brand new", they would really want to make a great impression. Very disappointed.
