Let me start by saying that normally the donuts are super good but I'm not sure what happened to them today. My husband and I went there and upon entering the place smelled of old oil and the donuts didn't look any better either. In fact, the donuts looked flat. Well, we got donuts anyways and got them home. When I bit into the cronut it tasted like old oil and was only about 1/2 inch thick.....thin. The one star is for the Boston creme, it was okay. The square glazed was flat as well but I didn't even try to taste that one. The fritter looked over cooked and tasted of old oil too. Needles to say I only ate the one creme. This review is to ask the establishment to please "CHANGE THE OIL." Let the donuts rise or stop killing the yeast. Why are they so flat?? There's no rise at all to the dough. So I don't get it. Is this a ghost kitchen or a donut shop? The shelves were stocked, but I was told the donuts on display were reserved for online orders and not available to walk-in customers. If online orders can claim inventory as the store opens and before in-store customers have any chance to buy what's on the shelves, what is the point of maintaining a brick-and-mortar location? The only thing that kept them from getting 5 stars is I asked for a chocolate iced, white cream filled donut and got yellow Bavarian cream filling . Very excited to see this business open up a location in Layton. I have found that their donuts are exceptional and are priced VERY competitively with businesses turning out lesser donuts. A couple of great things about this location: 1 - They have a drive thru. If you are in a hurry or just comfy in your vehicle, you can order through the drive through. 2 - The selection and supply seem to be on point. This donut shop opened up a couple of months ago and even though it had been calling my name, every time I drove past it, I've ignored it until today. I purchased a glazed and a chocolate iced glaze for myself and a dozen of mixed donuts for the office, because I didn't want to share. The glazed donut was almost perfect - thick, fluffy and light. I loved it. Didn't love the other one but I liked it. There was something off about the chocolate. The employees loved the sprinkles, cinnamon, sugar and cake donuts that were in the box. There's a fountain soda machine in the shop and there's a refrigerator with bottled drinks. I saw a sign for coffee as I was heading out but I don't drink coffee, so....One dozen of glazed is $13.99 and mixed is $14.99. Ditch Dunkin and KK and give this place a shot! read more

I see so much excitement for this "NEW" place; Is it because they are new to the area of non existent, non grocery store donuts, OK I get it, but I would drive to Bowman's in Kaysville for delicious donuts. We've tried Banbury twice at different hours, different days. Both times the donuts were greasy! Very clearly greasy by the taste. There was no fluffy, delicious hint of yeast flavor, the toppings are just blah, the glazes taste like watered down powder sugar. Service was great, friendly and inviting, go for the blueberry donuts, they were descent. And the location is great. read more

I go to this location between four and five times a month so today I got my usual Bavarian cream and Apple freighter so just common sense you want to put the heavier doughnut first in the bag so instead of doing that they put the apple fritter which is much heavier than the Bavarian cream so when I got home, I took out the apple fritter and the cream inside. The donuts was everywhere because the apple fritter squished it so it was kind of disgustingly messy so if anyone really reads reviews, you might wanna tell them if you order these two particular donuts to put the apple fritter first in the bag then whatever is cream filled on top so it doesn't get squished out not only that they never pick up their phone. I love the glazed , Apple fritter , and the twisted glazed , this place is where I pick up donuts for the ohana , the service at the pick up window is fast, and the place is well maintained. The one problem is that if your to late in the morning they run out, so you gotta order the day before or early that morning your picking up to get the donuts you like. I visited the Layton store mid morning and they were very well stocked with more varieties of fresh doughnuts than I could count! I asked for chocolate/chocolate, my husband's favorite and it did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, he asked that I keep the location of Banbury Cross in Layton a secret from him!!! He is afraid he would be dropping by a little too often! Kirby the manager was friendly and gave great recognition to his employees, who were tidying up the joint, as he pointed out just who made the gorgeous looking doughnuts. For those comparing to the local favorite , Bowman's, I'm going to say there is no comparison. Bowman's produces an awesome product, but you are comparing standards to gourmet - worth the extra .60-.70 cents per doughnut. You can taste the quality ingredients, and the doughnuts are a bit larger than Bowman's.
