But at the same time, there's a glorious new Noggins Farm Market in Alderney so yeah, I'm going to get my prance on about it, okay? Open seven days a week (!!!!), this permanent shop has a full selection of fruits, veggies, cheeses, milk and gelato from Fox Hill (!!!!!), eggs, Made With Local bars, maple syrups and honey, and even a fantastic selection of Tideview ciders (!!!!!!!). I mean, it's absolutely fantastic. Just when you thought you couldn't be happier, you're walking out with a bottle of Tideview's Sparkling Pear. This is huge for the Dartmouth crowd, y'all.

Here is where I can find carrots that taste like they just came out of my own garden and plenty enough fresh and organic veg to get your good nutrients all winter long. Also a bonus that they are open every day, not just market Saturdays. They carry, not just fruit & veg but Foxhill cheese, milk & gelato, Old Dutchman cheese, Made With Local granola bars and Terra Beata cranberries, just to name a few.. Sure, you'll pay more then in the grocery store but it is so worth the fresh taste of naturally ripened, not dyed, organic goodness. And you're supporting local to boot, win win.

The woman I spoke to was helpful in relaying their focus, and provided a charismatic energy to my visit. I discovered that prices are marked up only slightly, as the organization is non-profit and the co-op is just looking to pay rent every month. With such genuine intentions, its a spot to support. Besides its wide range of grains, the co-op offers pasta, dried fruit, nuts, jams and honey, chocolate, and frozen foods from treats to bread and waffles. There are even organic cleaning supplies towards the back! Its an abundant little spot with a strong backing of locals. And this goes without saying, but all of The Grainery's supply is of the local and organically made origin. While I can't do grains so much, I'll be back for the Raw Chocolate and other treats. Its a collective of people making the extra effort to provide the community with goods. A worthy trip-- food coming from a good place with the intentions to match.

So I called sobeys on Windsor st in Halifax to see if they had the pizza in stock. They sent grocery to the aisle to check if it was in stock. He said they had it. I drove 15 minutes to get to the store only for them to not have the product in stock. Not even the tag on the shelf with no pizzas there. Just didn't have it period. I spoke with the manager to complain about my experience and she just said sorry I'll talk to him. I wasted gas, time, wear and tear on my vehicle, all for nothing, when this could have been avoided. I expected some form of compensation like a gift card or an override on another product, but no, just "sorry". So I will not be returning to this sobeys ever again, and I will be sure to leave this review in as many places as possible so people understand how bad the service is. Cheers John

It's so nice to have a spot that serves as a baby-grocery store, offering great local produce and delightful items, like cheeses from Nova Scotia and grains from New Brunswick. They also sell goods like maple syrup, frozen local and organic berries, as well as a variety of meats. You can even stop by for lunch, as they have sammies and salads, as well as coffee, tea and sweets. I love biking over in the summer and stocking up on apples. One of my favorite things to buy is their raw milk cheese from Quebec - it's a real treat, and although it only comes in small blocks it really goes the distance with its rich and flavorful taste. I support this business' mandate of offering local and mainly organic food year round, while fostering a very nice community space. You should swing by and pick up some yummy consumables today!

The fruit and vegetable section is fairly large and selection is usually pretty good. Bakery and bread goods host far too many delicious temptations. Checkouts usually move quite quickly. The store is, for the most part, laid out in the order I expect. Some important tips: * It's always busy at this Superstore. Al. Ways. I don't know why but it is. * It's a grocery store. If you're looking for a wide variety of Joe Clothing or other stuff, head over to the gi-normous Portland Street location. * It's parking lot is always full. You should expect that you're not going to get a spot right next to the door. * It's got a wine shop but that's it in terms of liquor. * If you're taking transit, there's only one bus: the #62 which has an unusual schedule. Make sure you know it before you head over.

These things are annoying but what happened today was quite upsetting. The product I was purchasing was on sale, but the deal was you had to buy 2 to get the sale price. As it happened there was only 1 left. I would gladly have bought the 2 items to get the sale price but they didn't have 2. Is that really my fault? Should I have to pay the price for their inability to keep the shelves stocked. It may seem like a small thing to some but in these times of rampant inflation every penny of savings counts.
