Jessie is an amazing trail leader. He puts you on the perfect horse. I rode sweet Red. He made me the tallest person in our group. Standing at 5'2" inches this never happens. Red was so beautiful and so sweet. Donn, who has a huge mustache, was paired with Caesar. Caesar, the horse, had a mustache too. There were new babies born on the property. To say this should be on everyone's bucket list is an understatement. The ride was unbelievable. Being right on the Pacific Ocean was spectacular. Jessie was a safe trail leader but not overly crazy. A great experience riding with Bandon Beach Riding Stables. We booked two spots on the sunset horse ride. Debated if it was worth splurging the extra ~$20 for a sunset view. Glad we did - views were very pretty. However, on every ride you're probably going to get the same great service. Instructors were knowledgeable and friendly. They let you ride the horses. It's not just walking single file in a line the whole time like a kid on a carnival pony. You can go off on your own (within reason), you can get to know the horse, and you can learn a lot talking with the ranch hands. Loved it and would come back. Thank you! read more

While it was a beautiful experience, it wasn't quite what we expected. The horses were compared to elementary-aged kids during the safety briefing, and we were warned that if one horse took off, they all would. However, what we weren't told was that if the horses did start trotting, we'd have to stop them. We opted for the 6 pm ride to maximize our time on the beach, which allowed us to see more of the stunning rock formations. The beach was indeed gorgeous, and I'm glad we got to experience it. However, if I could go back, I might skip this activity altogether. Overall, it's essential to set your expectations low for this ride. We had a memorable experience with our beach ride at Bandon Beach Riding Stables. We came for the 10am ride and the staff was super helpful to get us oriented and comfortable with our horses prior to going out. We had a fairly large group so it took some time to get all riders set up and ready to go. Once we were out on the beach, the horses (which seemed to be well-taken care of) remained very calm and remained together in a group. The views were spectacular and we got some amazing photos. The downfalls - the guides seemed like they were in a rush to get us out, hurrying me when taking pictures saying they'll take our pictures out on the beach. I really wanted pictures of us getting on our horses at the beginning, but that wasn't really able to happen. They also didn't really engage with the customers, and didn't really explain the beach area like I thought they would. We went out on the beach, they took our pictures, and we immediately turned back. Again, I was hoping to get pictures with my horse after, but they rushed me off and pulled the horse away. I get it's an operation, but it was not the best customer-friendly experience. read more

Riding on the beach was a highlight of my visit to Oregon from Massachusetts. The staff were knowledgeable and professional. The horses are very well taken care of and well trained. I had not ridden since I had a hip replacement two years ago. Any fear or hesitation evaporated soon after I got on Red aka Clifford the Big Red Dog:). He was the sweetest horse. What a gem! I am so glad I found this place. It was my first time riding a horse so I was extremely nervous. The staff was so kind, especially Cassie (I seriously love her!). She rode along side of me the whole entire time. You can really tell that the staff here LOVES the horses. I tend to be a little dramatic when faced with unfamiliar situations, so I understand when staff members get annoyed with me. But this was NOT the case here! The extra time and patience they provided me with truly made this an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I would recommend taking the sunset ride. It was honestly the most breathtaking sunset I have ever seen. It does get chilly but wearing a few layers or a windbreaker type of sweater should keep you warm through out the ride. I also appreciated that they had plenty of hand sanitizer for guests to use. Ultimately, I would give this experience a 10/10! Can't wait to be back! read more

Wow. What an amazing experience we had here. Not only was checking in east but the staff was wonderful. I am a beginner and they were very helpful. I missed her name but our guide on the walk had amazing positive energy and was able to guide our group with ease. The horses were beautiful and although it sounds silly, you can tell they are happy and well taken care of which is the most important in my eyes. If we ever come back to Bandon we are definitely coming here again. My horse name was Texas and he was a big guy that took direction so well and made me feel so comfortable. read more

Had a great experience! I hadn't been on a horse in over 50 years. Age and arthritis definitely has taken its toll, but the staff and the horse, Missy, were patient and compassionate. They helped me up and down and checked frequently to make sure all was well as I consistently brought up the rear. Bandon Beach Riding Stables is a Bandon staple! I read about this place on Yelp before visiting, and it lived up to the hype! They have several tours a day (10am, noon, 2pm, potentially 4pm but I can't remember). They also have sunset tours over the summer months. Michaela was our guide and gave us many pointers on how to control our horses prior to heading down to the beach. You stay single file crossing the street and can scatter once you get onto the beach and have more space. The tour was $50 for one hour. No hats due to the unpredictability of the wind. Would definitely recommend and make this a regular activity when visiting the Oregon coast! read more

Positive: The location is stunning! The horses and stables seemed to be in good shape and well cared for. The guide was very clear about how to handle the horses and had no issues guiding my daughter's horse with a lead rope when she was uncomfortable being on her own. Negative: Though the guide was receptive to any and all questions I asked, she did not engage me and my daughters throughout the entire experience. She didn't know our names, or anything about us... why we were in Bandon... what adventures we experienced so far, etc. In many of the photos I took, the guide was on her phone. In addition, she kept checking her watch... it could have been an AppleWatch or the like... but it was constant. The description of the tour suggested that we would learn about the area and points of interest... this was lacking. I love being educated! It's one of my favorite parts of tours and the guide had very little to offer. The term "sunset ride" was misleading. The ride finished an hour and a half before sunset. For the $80 per person I spent, I expected much more from the guide. This will be my 3rd guided horse ride in the last several years and not only was it the most expensive, it was the most disappointing read more

Wonderful experience! I'm a seasoned rider and we were in a group where the order of the day was trail ride with a first timer. Even though it was a slow ride down the beach, it was still very enjoyable. The horses are very seasoned and sane. They are clearly used to doing this and there were no surprises, no spookiness, and everyone made it back top-side up. For those considering this ride, it can very windy. You'll want a windbreaker or jacket. You can choose to ride with or without a helmet but if you wear a hat, it will need to be able to stay on your head in a stiff wind. They will help you on and off the horses, will give brief instructions, but mostly the horses will stay together. read more

We live in washington and had family staying down there so had the opportunity to go again. I wish i lived closer so i could go often.!! The first time (4th of july) i rode Cookie monster. He was a dream. My boyfriend rode Red. I had been dreaming of riding by the beach since i was a kid. Which was the last time i went. When we got down the street to enter the beach i totally started crying. It was a dream come true. I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. It was the most amazing experience. If you love horses or, if you have never gone, you will love this. The second time (august 23) we went we took my boyfriends 13yr old son. It was his first time riding ever. He loved it! This time he rode cookie monster and i rode Missy. All of their horses very well cared for. They are all very well behaved and have a pep in their step. They seem to enjoy their job. We had about 10 riders maybe, with us each time and seemed like everyone had great horses. Its a family business. The family that owns the place is amazing. Cassie was our rangler both times. We had an excellent ride with Bandon Beach Riding Stables! There were 4 of us, plus 2 guides. We made reservations for the Sunset ride -- which isn't really at sunset because that would be waayyyy too late and too dark en route back to the barn. But the ride was above and beyond what other riding stables offer: When we got to the beach, they allowed us to fan out so we could talk to each other as we rode side by side without twisting around in our saddles (the way you have to on other guided rides because they make you stay single file through the whole ride). They also were extra kind and helpful to the beginners in the group! PS -- always tip the guides if they do a good job! They have to put up with all kinds of crazy customers! read more

Great time riding on the beach with my horse crazy daughters during a family beach/golf vacation. We enjoyed it so much, we went back a second time two days later. This is a family-owned business with more than 40 years in the community. Horses were well fed and cared for. Feet were trimmed, coats were groomed, tack was sturdy and in good condition. Guide was personable and knowledgeable about the temperament and quirks of each horse in every environment from stables to crossing the road to getting down to and on the beach. He had a relaxed competent eye on everyone and everything. The guide and owner did well matching people to horses. They have a variety of solid horses who know their job and some good safe horses for the smaller kids. Cash only. Very enjoyable experience and probably the highlight of the trip for my kids. Our family just finished up an hour ride on the beach and we loved it. Diamond worked with my 8 year old who had never been on a horse ride before. She led his horse on the path to the beach & then taught him how to control his sweet horse all by himself. She stayed next to him the whole hour giving him instructions and making sure he was safe. Except for a block going & returning to the beach the entire ride takes place on the beach. It's amazing! A couple tips: bring cash or a checkbook- no credit cards are accepted. Their mobile website says rides hourly, but that's not right- the rides leave @ 10,12,2,4,6. I booked our reservation the same day & had no problem, but it was a drizzly day. I visited Bandon Beach Riding Stables on a quick trip to the coast in early October. The horses were in great condition and (for the most part) listened to what you told them to do. You could tell they DID NOT like anyone on their mouths... they would jerk their heads all over if you even barely pulled on the reins sometimes.. so that was a little annoying. Horses can definitely be trained to not do that, but it doesn't look like these ones have. I ride every weekend and used to guide trail rides and noticed that they didn't spend much time AT ALL on how to control the horse for the people who weren't avid riders. Luckily our horses didn't spook at the waves. Overall it was a pretty good experience that I would recommend. read more
