What a great place to go hiking. There are lots of different trails so you can choose how easy or difficult, how long etc. Once you get to the top the views are amazing! Lots of shade so even on warmer days it is doable. Watch for poison oak.

I sincerely love this park. It's great. No it's wonderful!! The trees are all gorgeous- madrones and beautiful dark red/almost black trees. It's trippy... Some are neon orange, others cherry red and some black. All super smooth too. There's really colorful fungi and lichen as well. It's beautiful on a foggy day. The dense fog makes the forest seem enchanted!! Ok so about the park: It's unpaved hiking trails for mountain bikes, hiking/walking and horseback riding. (Watch out for the huge piles of horse crap!) There's tons of trials that meet up at the trail head of varying difficulty levels. Easy, medium, and most difficult. The outback loop takes about 80 minutes to walk if you don't take breaks and keep up a good pace. All the trails weave throughout the giant park- so you can get lost easily. Just pay close attention to the posts- it's not difficult to navigate if you're attentive. I recommend taking the back side loop to the W trail and taking that allllll the way to end so you can see the wild rose circle. Beautiful views once you make it! The trick is once you arrive from W to the fork, beginning the rose circle, you can either walk downhill the whole time or uphill. Turn RIGHT at Wild Rose circle for a downhill journey. Turn LEFT for an all uphill, steep journey around the Wild Rose loop.

Really great hiking trails for all skills and abilities. Lots of different trails so that each hike can be something new. Wildflowers are absolutely beautiful in March/April/May. Plus, the extra parking lots (Epsy, Skycrest, Walker) mean that there's always somewhere new to start and parking available. Easier trails mean you're more likely to run into people.

Skycrest Loop Trail

Came here for an evening trail run. I managed to bump into a park "ranger" who offered me a map and led me in the right direction. We talked for a few minutes and really appreciated his guidance. Over 10 miles of trails for the novice hiker with kids through those looking for more of a challenge. The trails I found myself on (Outback Loop, Skycrest Loop, Timber Riders and Ponderosa Pine Loop) were very well maintained, even though hikers, mountain bikers, and horses share the trail. It was very quiet and picturesque, and there were a few spots with some lovely views. This place really is a gem and should be explored by all outdoor enthusiasts.

Green trails are maintained well enough for a stroller.

Really nice trails that didn't seem to be used by many people. We only came across a few other people while there on a Saturday morning. The green trails are wide and I was surprised how smooth they were. The blue trails are steeper and more bumpy and the black trails are for hikers only. The green and blue trails are for mixed use between hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. It's pretty hilly so there's no way I would bike them but some others might enjoy that. 10 miles of trails in total. There's a nice map at the main entrance and there are maps provided for you as well on the board.
