I keep getting scam calls and I take the numbers back to this bandwidth company. Recently, they have just been dead air on the other end, and I block and report via Android. I then decided to see what the public was saying about this company, and of course, came to yelp. I was reading through the reviews, getting quite indignant and angry as I read, because I identified with each and every review/victim. We are all tired of western Asia trying their best to scam us, steal our parents retirement, steal our identities, steal our money, etc... They target the elderly, mostly. Most people under 50 are hip to the scam. What I am confused about, however, is the reviews... why are the review posts made from the same profile pics, over and over, with the names changing? Robo call scams. BEWARE. FCC is aware but it is very difficult to stop. Bandwidth sells millions of phone numbers with (scams) calls being in the BIllions each MONTH. Unfortunately these scammers are not included/part of the national "do not call" registry which is only used with legitimate telemarketing companies. FCC advises do not answer unknown numbers and block. Although they will just change numbers again. Consistent Sscam numbers can be reported on FCC website. read more

Just got a call from 480-808-2927. Caller had my name, address and stated they where trying to reach me to serve papers on me Friday morning. Also, their previous attempts to serve me had failed. He started this was a call to see if he could help before Friday morning. He, also, had some financial history from 2004 to share with me. When I che ked out the number it was linked to bandwith.com CLEC LLC. This person has 15+ phone numbers and address listed. I get these calls often. How can we make this stop? I have blocked them, used Scam Shield and gotten angry, too. HELP!! read more

They just called my dad in Utah, who I don't even speak to, and tried to say that they were serving papers in a civil suit. I've legitimately done nothing that anyone would or could sue me for, ever, and no process server in the world tries to serve someone with papers by calling their estranged relatives and saying "do you know [name]?" Also, I'm a registered voter at my home address. My number is publicly listed. If someone were trying to serve me with papers, they'd come to my house. I'm not hard to find. The person's name was Piper West and they called from an 866 number, which is obviously spam. I Googled, and the number shows up as a Bandwidth phone number connected to a rehab center in Georgia. I've never been to Georgia, nor have I been to rehab. Nice try. read more

I've been using one of Bandwidth's smaller resellers as a very affordable, helpful VoIP service for my home phone for almost a decade. I happened to recently research who controls my phone number, saw it was "Bandwidth CLEC LLC", and came upon this thread. Judging from the spam complaints here, I guess I'm not the only one who finds their service affordable! :-( What a shame. I'm sure there are many legitimate people and businesses using this company directly or indirectly through a reseller, but none have thought to come here and give them a positive review. read more

VOIP enablers for scammers outside of the United States. They don't really care what they use the provided numbers for as long as they get paid. If you go to their site they immediately bring up pages to waste law enforcements time since I guess they have got quite a few people in law enforcement calling. For months now, I have been pounded by calls that when doing a reverse look up of the numbers, shows they belong to Bandwidth.com. I have received calls from at least half a dozen if not more numbers with this ID. I rarely answer a call out of my area codes. Some of the numbers are: 701-369-0275 701-671-8056 347-227-2676 413-667-9752 If this is not your company or the phone numbers, please look into it. For now, since the registry states Bandwidth.com owns these numbers...well...I have to assume it is this company. I am using the provided link to inform as well. read more

These scam artists are telemarketers. They will call you from this number: 502-208-8482 I received a call from this # from my cell phone@ 8:37am on 2/12/13. I called the # from a land line phone and the call indicated that it was for a consumer credit reporting industry opt in and opt out # and if i wanted to remove my name for 5 years to press 1. If I wanted to remain to press 2. To permanently remove my name from this program to press 3. Lastly to hear details about this program press 4. So I pressed 2 and they asked for my social security #. I then hung up. These scumbags are pure scammers. They are phishing for social security numbers. They will use those numbers and fill out credit card forms and then run up your credit card charges. They are likely Africans or Middle Easterners operating a classic Nigerian 419 scam. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. ***UPDATE 2/22/13*** Bandwidth is a wholesale provider and have deactivated the telemarketer's number. Hopefully this mitigates the problem. Got a voicemail from a robocall claiming I had warrants out for my arrest and the local "cops" would come arrest me. Found to be a number out of Maryland registered to Bandwidth. Ugh. These types of scammer calls should be illegal. read more

I have been getting months of calls from these people. Now they are calling me multiple times a day. When I did some checking, I found out the numbers are owned by Bandwidth.com LLC. When I called several departments to get a real person, the first two people were snotty and the third person finally talked to me. He confirmed that Bandwidth does indeed own these numbers but patched me over to the Voice Department (at least that's what he called it). They then said go to their website to file a complaint. In other words, "Piss off." Company has a contract set up with tons of telemarketers and knows that they are not only breaking the law but their own service contract. Calling the company will inform you that you must fill out an obscure form online on their website where they tell you that they won't be messaging you back about the issue. I've filed several complaints to them and they continue to call non-stop. While the company may maintain that it isn't their fault, they know full well what is happening on their lines and they simply don't care because it's a quick buck. I received a call from (229) 231-3450 (Georgetown, GA) asking for me. When I asked who is calling, they hung up. I tried calling back and it says all circuts are busy. Tried calling after looking up the number on reverse look up and reporting the number as attempting to create fraud, it then said the number is no longer in service. I also text the number stating that I had reported this number as attempting to create fraudulent activity. The reverse look-up stated carrier as Bandwidth.com. Montgomery, GA, Quitman, Ga.. Someone texted my roommates nephew impersonating me but had some information wrong. So they reached out to my roomate who let me know. They knew some information about us like we recently got a new sink reinstalled and both mine and all my roommates names. I called the number (623)335-3079 the text came from which didn't answer. Then I received a text after the call where they laughed and then denied impersonating me. Coincidentally I received a text and call from 1 706-538-4269 asking me to complete a survey. I did not answer or respond to either. Googling these numbers show they are from Bandwidth.com CLEC. read more

They have numerous numbers and scammers and say they are health organizations, and ATT, or other places that might be related to info about you. . They are not . They are collecting information to sell about you. If you verify something , then its sellable to somebody, you screwed up. This is why having public internet information is stupid. It's obvious by reading many of the complaints that most people have been misinformed about how outbound calls are routed. When you see a caller id CID, that only shows up because the server is configured to show it. One does not need to own a single phone number to make outgoing calls at all as the phone number has absolutely nothing to do with an outbound call's routing. If you do a carrier lookup the ONLY thing that will tell you is that if YOU call that number, the call will be routed to that number through the carrier listed. Phone numbers, officially called DIDs which means Direct Inward Dialing ONLY apply to incoming calls. I have had my DIDs assigned through Bandwidth for years and ONLY my incoming calls come through them. When I make outgoing calls, I have it set to choose from eight carriers that do premium routing and at that exact moment have it choose the least expensive of the premium routes which fluctuates throughout the day and different carriers are used when I make calls at different times. My outgoing caller ID, since I run my own server and phone system is put there by me and only by me as courtesy to the callee so that they can call that number back and it WILL get routed through Bandwidth to me directly as that is is the number's only true function. I can choose to show anything for outgoing CID or nothing at all as it is not needed to make an outgoing call once again. Legally I can only send CID numbers that I own or none at all. I can legally put in my cellphone number to show as CID to YOU since I own it. Let's just say that I am doing the latter and you receive my call and you decide to look it up, ok now you think based on what you have been misinformed with, do a carrier lookup on the number that I CHOSE to have displayed to YOU and you see T-Mobile, in this instance T-Mobile was not used in any leg of the call whatsoever yet I can legally do so. Since my outgoing calls are a balance with quality and cost, the hypothetical call I sent you could have gone through AT&T, Verizon, Inteliquent, Peerless, Iristel, Lanck, Bandwidth by luck of the draw and several others. Illegally I could have my server show the number of the White House if I wished to but I won't unless I have permission for a time slot to demonstrate to the public as to why a Carrier Lookup for an incoming call to YOU is meaningless. I will NOT show any number that does not belong to me. Like the FTC tells you, do NOT trust your Caller ID, if you do trust it implicitly and decide to do a reverse check and get the address of the person who really DOES own the number yet who did not call you and you post the personal information of the person you THINK called you on one of the vigilante forums and someone who is unhinged causes harm or death to that person, then the blood is on your hands all because you thought the calls were coming through one of Bandwidth's millions of legitimate DID assignees and you thought you were being smart based on what you have been erroneously taught and doing something about it. This needs to stop people! If a scammer calls you, your caller id certainly means absolutely nothing as to what carrier was even used (for the umpteenth time) to terminate the scammer's outbound call because I can't say it enough, phone numbers have zero to do with outbound calls. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/robocalls The ONLY certain way you would know if Bandwidth was selling service to scammers is by looking at Bandwidth's financial records which neither the vigilante sites nor any of YOU or I have access to. Onvoy and Peerless get blamed the same exact way as people are doing here. It really depends on the geographical region as scammers like to display numbers near you. I sincerely hope that Stir/Shaken of which the deadline is this coming week on June 30th, halts most of it. Stir/Shaken is being implemented exactly because as of yet there had been no certificate process added to call headers to verify that the call you receive is legitimate because caller id has nothing to do with how outgoing calls are routed. The way it will work is that a certificate will be added to the sip headers of outgoing calls only if the call is coming from where it is authorized to come from. If the caller id you see was meaningful in any way, we wouldn't be implementing Stir/Shaken. What you WILL see is that an unverified call will show as such. For reference, the PSTN or Ma Bell is going away, it is too costly and limited to maintain and the experts have all retired or even died by now. If you use VoLTE with your cell company, it is Voice Over IP (VOIP) which is why you can use HD voice. Wideband Voice Codecs cannot be used over the PSTN which is Public Switched Telephone Network by the way. Many if not most people use VOIP whether they know it or not and by 2030 it all will be. I've had several calls over the last 2 day(8 times!) from these people trying to get me to pay almost $500 for a $4k extended warranty on my vehicle... I've asked them repeatedly to stop calling me and I'm not interested and they call MORE! So today I let them go though their entire spiel and then had her repeat it over again twice LMAFO! After the 3rd time I told her I was reporting her "company" to the FTC and BBB. I was unaware that I needed to register my number first with the FTC and wait 31 days but I'm sure I'll be hearing from them more... They will be fined $500 per cal once they continue to call after the 31 days! Everyone needs to register their number with the FTC so we can put these punks out of business!
