Banfield was recommended to me from dear friends who have multiple pets and found Banfield to be the best option for both cost and convenience. I have two labradoodles and they offer great care and when my female labradoodle had to be operated on, they were remarkable. They're exactly what we hoped for. The only down side is paying a monthly membership for both dogs for a year. But then again, you either pay it monthly or all at one time at any other vet office. It just worked better paying it monthly. read more

I brought my cat here for the first time last week for some vaccinations she needed ASAP to be able to go to a boarding kennel the following day. Beforehand, I was thinking, "how good can a vet inside of a PetSmart be?" I just really needed to get my cat in SOMEWHERE, and with haste. But as it turned out, Banfield in Eagan was incredible. I was able to get an appointment quickly and easily over the phone-- receptionist was super friendly and helpful. Our appointment was with Dr. Pagnotta and WOW was he thorough with my cat. Besides the vaccinations she needed, my cat was having litterbox issues. Dr. Pagnotta took care of everything for us, even spending over an hour with our appointment just collecting data from my cat and I to ensure the best treatment and plan of action going forward for her. Following the initial appointment, my cat needed a dental cleaning and they were able to get her in within the same week. Dr. Pagnotta suggested taking a look at my cat's anal glands while she was under anesthesia for the dental work, and I permitted it. My cat had been experiencing pain in that area for awhile-- turns out her glands were severely full and needed to be expressed. After her procedure, Dr. Pagnotta called me and gave me a detailed rundown on everything that happened during the appointment and updated me on my cat's current state. I was beyond pleased to hear exactly everything that went on while she was there. I felt grateful knowing that my cat was in good, caring hands. Our experience with Banfield and Dr. Pagnotta was excellent. I've already recommended them to my family and friends, but thought they should have my online review as well! Thanks Dr. Pagnotta and Banfield staff! read more

This Penfield is the most disorganized location I have ever come across. We have been using Banfield pet Hospital for 13 years. This location has overcharged us. They have miscommunicated how to do doses for our dogs or they just forget to give you the medication for the dogs although we paid for them. Luckily I am moving away from this location so that I can use a new one. The communication between staff is nonexistent. They say they put notes in the file for the next person to read but they seem to never be able to find them. Whoever is managing this location needs to either step down or removed themselves from the establishment.I will never recommend this location to anyone. read more

if I could give them a 0 I would. I stopped going there because 9 years ago my dog had a broken tooth. After an exam they told me three teeth needed removal to the tune of $900 . I went to another vet.....only the broken tooth was bad......bill $270. Today I needed prescription dog food for my dog. My vet is in out state MN where I spend most spring to fall and gave me a prescription for it. I was told Banfield carried it. They had it, but would not sell it even with another Vets prescription! They did ask if I was a client or wanted to be a client. I would rather operate on my dog myself if needed! Went to Companion on Duckwood.....they filled it w/o question. read more

After two terrible visits I can say that I will not be bringing my pet here, and I will recommend others to do the same. First, they bring your dogs into the back room when they draw blood and give shots. This seems a little sketchy, as other clinics will allow you to be there. Last time my dog was back there, he yelped, cried and barked in a way he never had before. I was scared and mad. When they brought him back, the vet was making a joke about it, all while my dog was bleeding on the floor. This is not funny. I asked what the problem was and she mentioned he didn't like the restraints before she laughed and got a bandage. Second, they will charge you for every thing they can. For example, the couple minutes in the back room to draw blood? Over $30 just to bring him back. Not to mention the $60 of the actual work. He was in the back room for minutes, that does not constitute a "ward fee". Both times I've come in, I have felt uncared for and over charged. There are other great vets in the area with better service and lower costs. read more

Excellent vet care & they do an excellent job at claw clips. They only charge me half since my baby only has back claws. They never ask me to have them cut. The claw clips stay on a long time when they do them. The vets Always answer all your questions. They always know what's wrong with my baby. She has the wellness plan & they do great on her teeth & take good care & she's 13. read more

I am writing this review based on my first and only visit to Banfield in Eagan. I signed both of my dogs up for the comprehensive wellness plan (RIP OFF!). The best way I can describe how the Eagan Banfield works is like a car dealership. Basically they sell you on this wonderful plan that will ensure you pets health, blah, blah, blah. I understand that this plan in NOT pet insurance but a comprehensive plan (like a maintenance plan for your vehicle at the car dealership). However, when I returned to pick up my pets (after they were required to be there ALL DAY) I was confronted by Doctor Mueller and explained how both of the dogs needed dental cleanings, ear cleanings, and how one lab result from the blood work came back "slightly elevated" and I would need to spend $40 on vitamins and then pay another $50 for more blood work in a month. Just like the car dealership, yes the visit was covered but you should probably do a transmission flush, power steering flush, etc. etc. You WILL be upsold and guilted into paying for things you or your pets don't need. This was basically made out to not even be an option so I bought the vitamins and returned home to find nothing on my paperwork that described what Dr. Mueller explained to me in person. I called and received a long drawn out speech about why it was important (by the way, it was 120 and the normal range is 10-100...range = 90. ). I have since gone to another vet to confirm it was indeed bullcrap. I have canceled my optimum wellness plan and get to pay $280 for "services performed" that I havent paid for yet in my monthly payments (that means the initial visit was somewhere between $400-$450 for both!) Long story short, you will be made to think you need to spend copious amounts of money on things that aren't necessary. You will be made to feel like you are a bad pet parent even if your pet is in good health. And on top of all that money you are paying, you wont even get a full summary that you paid for. Dr. Mueller, especially, can't explain the difference between a paw and tail. STAY AWAY from this commercialized "franchise" and stick to the small town docs that are willing to help you if you're in a pinch or give you alternatives to expensive medicine. Take your animals to someone who actually cares read more

I've had my dog in this vet 3 different times for the same skin rash each time spending over $200 I called early yesterday morning for a call back about this same rash popping up & never received a call back.... this vet seems to care only about making money & not the quality of life for animals read more

I have to utterly disagree with the previous review posted. I started taking my dog to Banfield in Eagan in August of 2011. In the 21 months I took her to Banfield, I had nothing but amazing, top notch, care for my girl. She was very sick, dealing with cancer for the last 10 months of her life before finally losing her fight in May this year. In that entire time, my dog loved to go to Banfield, in spite of the fact that most of the time it involved various pokes, prods, surgery. Being a person who often thinks the solution to anything involves a test of some sort, the vets there were often talking me out of unnecessary tests or procedures as we fought to try to keep the cancer at bay. They took so much time to go through all the options available, what the pros and cons were for each thing. They never overmedicated her, never recommended a test that didn't have a clear and defined reason with a tangible benefit, and took care of her with love and compassion when we decided to stop operating on a tumor that had come back 3 times. The vets and techs were always there to answer questions that I had regarding her condition. In many ways they became my puppy's extended family, and when it was time for her to stop fighting, you could see the grief in their eyes at losing her too. I spent alot of time in the clinic with my dog, and many times saw how the staff interacted with other pets than mine. Never was there a feeling that anyone was being rushed or that any concern was invalid. You couldn't ask for better care than that. So I highly recommend this clinic. The only focus that the vets and techs had in the almost 2 years there was to get my girl healthy. She loved them and trusted them completely. And they were there for me when the worst happened too. A great clinic, great people. 100% recommend. read more

I can't believe the only other 2 reviews have been 1 star. My step dog has come to Banfield in Eagan for years, and I've been so impressed with the staff and Dr. Davis, that we ended up transferring the records from my dogs' vet over to them so he could start coming to Banfield too. We trust them, and we know that they're doing for our dogs everything that they would do for their own dogs. read more

I just had a very disappointing experience with them. This was the first time I've had such a terrible experience because every other time I've used this Banfield I get the kindest service and dr. Latimer is the best. The first young lady that greeted me and went over pricing was very kind and professional. When I saw the cost of care I let her know that I would not be able to pay that amount and asked if it's be possible to bill me instead. She was not sure of the answer so she asked her coworker for an answer. She then came out to let me know someone would be right out to talk to me further. After about another 10 minutes of waiting he comes out to just let me know that was not something they could do. When I questioned why he couldn't have the other much more pleasant young lady relay the information 10 minutes prior he then became offensive. He questioned whether I knew I didn't have money for the cost of care when I made the appointment when I responded that I was not notified there would be cost neither at the time I made the appointment nor at the time of check in he then become very rude. With the worst most condescending tone he then asked " so is $50 really gonna be a problem to pay today??". This took me aback to have a stranger talk to me in that tone. It goes beyond employee to customer and is simply about having some basic human respect. I am truly appalled by this interaction I had with this gentleman. read more

I'm really surprised at the negative reviews. I can't speak for the other people's experiences, but I can speak for my own, and they have been so superly amazingly wonderful! I first started going there in 2008 when I moved here from TX. At the time I had 2 dogs. They described to me the Wellness Plan options, and I'm so thankful for this because what happened in 2009 is that the smaller dog got cancer. The veterinarian used wisdom and kindness and said although they could run all sorts of tests and call in specialists, from the xray they could see that the cancer was so advanced that there would be no saving her. What I paid for the Wellness Plan was thousands of dollars less than what I would have paid for the office visits and medical care outright. They actually let you know on each summary how much your plan has saved you. Honestly, even if all you do for your dog throughout the year are a physical and dental cleanings, the Plan is still worth it! Since 2008 they've added new veterinarians and I think I've now seen all of them, and they have all been great. Trust me, I was skeptical of each of them the first time because I love my dogs! But they each proved me wrong. Beyond that, the techs are wonderful as well! If you call at 7 am with an urgent need, even if they don't have any appointments available for the day they'll somehow fit you in. If a vet can get your issue resolved over the phone without a visit, he or she will. I highly recommend this Banfield location. I can't speak for any other location, but this one is awesome. read more

We were with Banfield for over 7 years, in the last year it got to the point where the only thing the doctors were worried about was making sure that they ran as many tests as possible that cost a lot of money and they were never really worried about getting our pet healthy just making sure that they charged us an extraordinary amount of money for less than average care. read more

Dr. Davis is the only doc I would see here. We recently spent over $750 to have our dog with chronic diarrhea treated. Dr. Davis wasn't free, so we had to see another doc. The good news: dog is alive, and after anti-diarrheal meds and change of dog food, she is better. The bad news: we still don't know what caused her problem and when we went to pick up the dog, they told us she still had poop on her. I responded that after spending that much money with them it was unacceptable for them to give me back a dog with no diagnosis and covered in poop. After my intense complaining, they rinsed the dog off. There was no awareness or sympathy on their part that $750+ is a significant amount of money. My husband and I wondered, when we had expressed concern about the cost, why they wouldn't say, we could just treat for just common diarrhea and if it doesn't resolve there are a bunch of expensive tests we can do? These guys are great at making money. That is what they are best at. read more
