I LOVE working with them! I have been bringing my service dog to them for all his care since the day I got him, nearly 8 years ago. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly! EVERY time I email them with a concern, they've always have got back to me so fast. Always eager to help scheduling appointments and getting meds ready. Dr Hansen saw Dino and was super about touching him and explaining evereything to me about dinos care and treatment plan. I feel very safe with their . I brought my cat here a few years ago and this vet horribly misdiagnosed anemia and several other medical issues that were immediately identified when I took him to a different and better vet. I won't even dignify putting any more info; I see from other reviews that they only lie and say they have no record of your pet as a patient. We knew something was wrong with our cat due to his behavior. Ended up waiting over a half hour past our appt time. They ran some tests (which cost a lot of money) and told us he's fine. We were still worried about him and so we went to another vet, Burnsville Animal Clinic, and they figured out what the issue was within 10 mins. This place is a scam if I've ever seen one. Don't bother to bring your pet here. And for the business to continue to lie: how could you find me as client when you don't have my full name or my cats name???? so obviously you can't find us. It seems that reviews for Shamrock Animal Hospital (Rosemount, MN) are either 1 star or 5 stars. It makes sense since our pets our part of our family and both good & bad experiences affect us. My personal experience with Shamrock Animal Hospital has always been positive. I've owned 2 dogs in the last 22 years and have taken both of them only to Shamrock Animal Hospital. The first was a rescue dog that I had for 5 years. My current dog is almost 14 years old (that I've had since she was a puppy.) My favorite vets have been Dr. Wineke (who is now with another practice) and Dr. Kurt Walter-Hansen. Dr. Hansen saved my rescue dog's life when she had a large mass in her abdomen that he carefully and successfully removed. She went on to live a few more good years before degenerative mylopathy affected her quality of life. I will always be grateful to him for that extra time with her. I've always felt that care options have been offered/suggested but that I've always had the choice to decide what treatments to move forward with and what ones to decline, without pressure from the staff/doctors. read more

Took my twelve pound puppy in for his heartworm medication. Vet told me he was due for three vaccines, rabies, DAPP, Lepto and an oral Bordetella. I was shocked when I was presented a bill for $408.79. When I got home my wife told me that he was not due for his rabies vaccination for several more months. After taking the puppy home he became very lethargic and was trembling. When I tried to pick him up he yelped loudly. Now he shys away from me thinking I caused him the pain. Talked to another Vet and they said that three shots at one time was too much for a puppy that small. They spread that many shots to a puppy that small over several days. Will not be returning to this place again. Way to expensive, appears as if there only interested in making money and not caring for your pet like the should. read more

In the past I would have recommended them but it appears they are more about the money than the care now. They wouldn't trim my senior dogs nails (he can't do walks anymore due to hip issues so nails get long and painful). since he hadn't had his vacs yet and were due the next day and they didn't have an appt for him until later in the month. So it didn't matter my senior dog really needed this done then I asked them to mail my cats paw print that was put down in May I said I would pay the postage. They sent a bill for $15. I called and said it must have been an estimate since the postage was $10.65. They claimed it was for bubble wrap and the box. The box was obviously one they already had and most likely the bubble wrap as well. But that extra $4.35 was apparently really needed nevermind how much I paid to have them put my cat down. They never used to be like this. They also tried to have me do all kinds of invasive tests on my severely ill 16 year old cat that would have been in the thousands. I changed my vet. Let me beat you to it before you say, "I'm sorry we don't have you as an existing patient." Save the nonsense, my dogs name is Sparky. He's been going to this place since he was a puppy. Check your files before you wanna cover up your nonsense with an excuse. He was just in your clinic yesterday, and he was picked up covered in urine. I'm guessing he wasn't taken out? And this was before you decided to charge an arm and a leg with unnecessary tests that weren't approved or discussed & DID NOT HELP MY DOG. End result - *He was picked up covered in urine. Did you take him out while he was at your facility? *Did you even try feeding him? Knowing he hasn't eaten in days? How bout giving him water? *My dog was not cured at all. Instead, a hefty bill was provided at the end of the visit. *OH, & he's been shaking since he's been home. did you traumatize my dog? Is it because my mother schooled your staff at the reception? So you take it out on animals in the back? All - check reviews before going here! And if you do take the chance, make sure you look at your bill and question every charge they throw at you. We had taken our dog to a diff vet clinic twice in one week and couldn't get a hot spot healed up. Decided to get a second opinion and was able to get our dog an appointment the next day. From the moment I called the receptionists were understanding and kind and professional. Upon arrival everyone was friendly and professional. The veterinarian was kind and understanding and listened to our concerns. She showed compassion and care. With the new treatment plan in place our dog was better in a few days! They have treated both my fur babies from annual check up, shoots, coyote attack, 2 major surgeries (17 cancer tumors and 4lbs tumor). Dr. Vale, techs, front desk, and all who are involved with this clinic/hospital hold a place in my heart. They're very informational, they listen, they care for the pet and owner. They explains it in terms that this uneducated man can understand. They walk you threw procedures and put up with the silly questions I asked. I will warn you they are not cheap but also not outrageously priced. The reality of it some people are unable to have kids and my 2 dogs (Golden retriever and Labrador retriever) are mine. This is an amazing animal hospital and clinic. We take both our pets to Shamrock. My adult daughters also bring their pets to Shamrock. The vet techs are amazing. The doctors are wonderful and handle pet personalities with great care. The cost is very reasonable. The office is simply beautiful. We took my childhood pets (dog and cat) to Shamrock and always had good experiences, so it made sense to come back to them with the dogs we own now. Our Jack Russell Terrier mix needed his teeth cleaned and Shamrock gave us the cheapest quote out of several vets in the south metro. And they did a great job! Dr. Mary Matzek was so awesome and told us that dog dentistry was her "passion." We knew our dog was in good hands! Also, after having a terrible experience at a vet in Eagan we brought our Corgi mix to see Dr. Hansen. He was very attentive, kind and understanding to our needs/concerns. The Hospital has new owners as of 2016?.. not exactly sure. But they are fantastic to us. Our Dog was pretty much dead everywhere else had given up on her. Our cat managed to get out of the house and was injured by another animal overnight. I called Shamrock Animal Hospital first thing in the morning and they got me in right away. They provided excellent care for our cat. They were understanding and sensitive. They fully explained the care and charges and let me know if they needed to do more, they would check with me first. The doctor doesn't return your calls for updates in a timely manner because she says they're too busy. And she says that she's in charge but you pay the bill LOL! Please don't take your pet here if they need to be euthanized! We first needed to put our sweet cat to sleep and they missed her vein when sedating her, then took her and the back room and brought her back already gone....our whole family was there and we all wanted to be with her at her last breath! She was 19 years old! Then 3 months later we had to put our poor dog down and not only did they make her cry when putting the sedation medicine in, she bleed and fought to get away...it was horrible! Our whole family was crying hysterically.....then they brought her to the back room and we heard her crying even more, but couldn't do anything about it because she was already halfway gone!! When they brought her back to us- she too was already sedated and they handed her to our daughter and dropped her neck in the process! It was SO HORRIBLE!! We will never go back there or recommend them to anyone!! read more

I brought my 4 year old corgi in for a carnassial tooth extraction to Shamrock Animal Hospital. The procedure was extremely affordable, it was done properly and correctly, and they even found that two of his little bottom front teeth were a bit loose (he's an aggressive chewer!) and they extracted those without charging me for it! My corgi had to have this procedure done prior to this on his other carnassial tooth and unfortunately we had chosen a different vet clinic. They were expensive, and they didn't get the entire tooth out! He started to get an infection and we brought him back to this other vet, they apologized (but that's it) and told me they would need to put him under again and it would cost me almost the same amount to have the small chunk of tooth taken out that should have been completed the first dang time. Ridiculous! I wish I would have found Shamrock first and so does my corgi. Thank you so very much to everyone at the Shamrock Animal Hospital for straightforward information, a clean environment, and honest practices! I am now a customer for life!! read more

We like to support local businesses but the day we needed them for our animal that got hurt. The staff told us to go somewhere else because they were to busy. It was hours till they closed that Saturday. At the very least, they could have looked at our pet . I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and I don't! read more

We called late afternoon, our puppy was injured and bleeding badly at the dog park! They said come in immediately-no questions asked! They were waiting and took him back to access him immediately! Even though you did not get disaplined by the board of Vet medicine it goes on your record that you had a complaint. Dr. Kurt you killed my cat plain and simple. The U of M told me that they thought he probably suffocated from the swelling in his throat. Somehting a simple steriod could have helped or a breathing tube, had he been monitored. While you were supossed to be moniriting him over night you and your staff had a party at your house. Yes I know all about that. You left him alone for hours at a time. I have defered at least 15 people from your clinic and will continue to until the day I die.Just remember Karma. Its not pretty. I have heard from so many people on the same type of neglectful care you have given to thier animals, people I dont even know. Shame on you and your entire practice. I know the only vet I like at your clinic left becuse of how you practiced.Her words not mine. People please think twice about this man and his clinic if you love your pets. POS he is twice the price of many vets as well. Do you have any idea how it feels to go to another vet tell them I have trust issues with vets and when they find outI was seen at this clinic they tell me that explains a lot. You should not have a license. If this was human care you would probably be in jail. If you are thinking about this vet clinic please please think again. They could not have been more sensitive and caring. Yes, they are not cheap. But I feel you get what you pay for. When I first noticed lumps in my beloved dogs throat, I call Shamrock in the morning (from work) and they were able to get me in that afternoon. The vet, Dr Erin Plath proceeded to do some lab work and x-rays and providing me with a diagnosis. She provided me with all my options including having me take Max to the U of M for a second opinion (which I choose to do). Max had Cancer and from the time of the diagnoses until I let him go, Dr Plath was wonderful in answering my questions (through email because I was unable to speak about it without breaking down in tears). I could call and Dr Plath would refill Max's meds as needed. Dr Plath provided me with options on preparing for Max's final days. I couldn't bare the thought of bringing Max inside for his final day (also I had Max's brother with as support). Dr Plath suggested we could do it outside under the large tree by their back door and Max and I wouldn't have to go in (my daughter went in to take care of the bill). Dr Plath came outside with her clipboard to obtain the information she needed from me (allowing me to stay with Max the entire time). She explained the process as it was happening. The entire staff was very understanding to my feelings from the moment Max was diagnosed with Cancer and they still are. I brought Max's brother Hunter in one month later for his yearly exam and it went wonderful. I have been bringing Max & Hunter here for 6 years, since our family rescued them at 8 weeks old and will continue to do so. Shamrock has an awesome staff who has always provided great care to my beloved pets and I would highly recommend them to family, friends or anybody looking for care for their pets. read more

Have been loyally using this clinic for 10+ yrs.(as have my parents, for their dog and cat) always had nothing but outstanding care for my dog...But, sadly over the last two yrs. I have noticed a steep decline in every aspect of the visit. Starting with the receptionist who more often then not is rather rude. Which I can deal with(certainly not a deal breaker) however the following events has made me find it necessary to find another vet. The prices and the up-selling of treatments/surgery is outrageous. I liken them to used car salesmen.. for example my parents 9 week old puppy went in for shots and they recommended that it have laser eye surgery for his droopy eyelids(which by the way are common in the breed and they normally grow into and he did) I was charged more than $900.00 to have two of my dogs teeth pulled. Next is and was the final straw for me... was that my dogs medication was EXPIRED by almost 8 mo. and another time I was charged for 120 pills when I only received 90. This also happened another time when I paid for 28 pills and received 14. All on separate visits. This is an unfortunate decline to the clinic I have trusted for so long. I must mention the one doctor I absolutely love and have nothing but wonderful things to say about. Dr. Sarah Wineke. She is the bright spot in an otherwise sinking ship. read more

I have been going to Shamrock for almost 10 years. My 9 year old dog has been going there since he was 8 weeks old. Not really too impressed with how they jack up your bill or let's just say they have a way of charging you stuff that you haven't approve. They are so anxious for you to sign this paper saying charge is between 100-200; 200-300 and when you check out, you find out that some charges were things that were not discussed or asked for your approval. Technicians has this famous phrase of "this was ordered by the doctor". Yes I agree, doctor's order but who pays the bill? Isn't it suppose to be lay out the options and let us decide what we want to have done or not?I just saw this Dr. Flath 2 days ago for a development exam and they still charged me a recheck fee 2 days after I saw her to talk about treatment plan? Why? Surprised they don't charge you for talking over the phone too. For the 3 consecutive days I've been there, they had billed me a total of $600. For what she thought would work, my dog is still not feeling better. I think now he's worse after going through what she thought would work. read more
