yeah they seem like the kind of sharks you run into at a car dealer ship but I went with their plan anyway for my cat and my bfs. It came in handy cause one night my bfs cat had a blockage and we didn't know what was wrong he just kept throwing up everytime he ate and was not pooping so we rushed him in and they were really nice to us and told us what it could be and gave us our options. We decided to skip the x rays and send him into surgery. turns out he ate a cup and a half of ferret treats he managed to get into and they did't digest. They pulled all that out and decided to neuter him at the same time which was nice. read more

Tough one here. I think the place is competent, but Customer Service is severely lacking. I arrived on time for my dog's check up appointment. there was one staff member manning the front desk and a line piling up, in walks another staff member with her muffin and coffee and said "Wow that took a long time", ok let that slide. Then When I picked her up at the appointed time, I counted 5 staff members walking around shuffling papers and running back and forth to the back and then front and then back again, Same thing, one person helping the front. A few customers complained about waiting over 30 min to pick up their pets. It took me 45 min. I think there are good Docs working, but the presentation and customer service up front needs to be addressed. Hope it improves before January this was a very frustrating experience. read more

Just ok. They were booked but accommodated our puppy who is on the puppy care + plan as a same day drop off which was very reassuring. I'm from California and my husband and I took my dogs with us on a road trip. Our puppy had a outbreak of Demodex mites which caused a secondary eye infection. I was also worried about an area on her tummy and lady parts. The doctor assured me her area looked okay. We were given an antibiotic gel for her eyes. A few days later she developed an infection in her lady parts and the Demodex spread to her mouth. The eye ointment was ineffective and was very hard to apply and seemed to irritate her eyes more when applied. Her cone still allowed her to sctch her eye so we bought a different one at Pet Co. We ended up using colloidal silver in her eyes which resolved the infection in two days. The employees were great and helpful but I wasn't 100% satisfied with the service we received. Appreciated they were able to fit us in for a same day appt. Went on to Portland Burlingame Banfield and we were given great service and other treatment for the Demodex. read more

We love the staff and doctors, very helpful and understanding. Have transferred all three of my dogs from another vet. Recently my dog started having seizures and had to rush him to see a doctor. As soon as I arrived they took him in and gave him treatment. So grateful for them. read more

Almost killed our dog. Don't ever take your animal here. Our dog was on the "wellness plan" for several years. Brought him in for a 6-month wellness checkup. Blood labs came back with a blood-glucose level near 500. Vet missed this. Brought dog back next week with symptoms common among dogs suffering from diabetes mellitus. Other vet failed to review blood work and missed high blood sugar as well; instead prescribed pain pills. Dog suffered for 3 months before his symptoms became so severe I ordered a blood-glucose test for dogs on Amazon, the result of which was positive for glucose in urine. Dog lost 30% of his weight from time of his "wellness" exam, became as critical, was close to having diabetic ketoacidosis, and liver enzymes doubled. They gave him fluids for the day free of charge but never offered any additional services (for example, a subsequent blood lab to review liver enzymes or ketone levels that were high because of their negligence). Subsequent blood-glucose curves paid for were done but not in an ideal manner because the place is unable to communicate between staff and doctors. Go elsewhere. read more

This is the first review I have ever given for a company. It is true when they say that people are far more likely to give a bad review than a good one. Banfield doesn't care about your pet, they care about their bottom line. We have their insurance, however, if you don't have every line of the contract memorized they will take advantage of you and find a way to charge you as much as possible. Stay away!!! read more

Took my dog in for a routine neuter plus retrieval of an undescended testicle (I had posted a lengthy review about this, but instead of posting an update, I accidentally typed over it). They botched it - I did research on the issue because I was suspicious almost from the evening he came home that they had done something wrong. Turns out they have been using low quality sutures for a few months - and they know it and keep using them. When I addressed my concerns about the sutures, excessive post-op bleeding, etc., I got nothing but blame and verbal abuse by the practice manager, and at least one of the vets. And all along, it was THEIR choice to have used bad sutures that absorb before the incision can heal that led to the problems my dog has had. He had to have a second procedure three days after the first to close up 2 cm of suture that had dissolved. They made me pay for that. They charged twice what they said would be the extra cost for the initial job, and wanted to send off the undescended testicle for pathology to see if it was cancerous, or so the doc said (not really how it works, but whatever). I refused to pay for that. Because of their defective sutures, his internal incision opened up, and last Friday, he had to have a $950 iatrogenic hernia repaired (by a competent veterinary practice). In the end, my dog's neuter ended up costing almost $1600.00. I called them initially when the problems started to express my concerns, I was treated rudely and with disrespect and hostility by the practice manager. I have her notes from the call - they are dishonest, misrepresentative, and distort the actual conversation, and her contempt is clear. I was treated disrespectfully by the vet who saw my dog for the second procedure done at Banfield. They attacked my level of education and experience with medical problems, and blamed the opened sutures on my alleged failure to follow their instructions (which is not accurate). In the end, we were allowed to speak to a veterinarian who is in charge, and he treated my husband and me respectfully, but apparently he was intentionally kept out of the loop and did not know about all of our problems with the procedure until after the fact. This just illustrates the level of dishonesty that prevails in this clinic, probably driven by that practice manager and corporate policies. It's all about the dollar, and nothing about the animals or their families. This has been a profoundly negative experience - after having decided to give this place a second chance after being burned by Banfield years ago. I cannot say enough bad about this company and this particular Banfield (on Chad in Eugene). Do NOT take your animals here if you care about their wellbeing and your own pocket book. I hope the one nice vet finds a better practice to join and gets away from the taint of Banfield quickly. It's a really terrible place with very low quality services and even lower quality customer support (unless you are a person who enjoys being attacked, blamed, and verbally abused by people who ostensibly are there to help). Golden Retrievers are highly social and love just about everyone, however, this Banfield location has managed to make mine fearful of the vet. She has been a Banfield puppy since we brought her home at six weeks and have never had such a horrid experience (she is 2 now). The customer service is non-existent and the people who work there are highly condescending, which is an interesting combo when you pair that with the fact that nobody there seems to have a clue about anything. They're way too busy to manage the work load they have while managing to treat customers, let alone their pets, in a happy, positive or helpful manner. Every month, when it is time to pick up my dog's flee medication, we cringe about having to go and we flip a coin for who has to call. I HATE this location and I have no desire to remain a customer once my puppy plan has expired for the year. What a shame to have 2 great years of wonderful service come to a screeching hault because of one lousy location. read more

I took my 2 dogs in to get shots. (I was just neutered 2 weeks ago in Salem with a complete physcial and just need one of his booster shots). I made an appointment in advance and was sticker shocked when we paid the bill of $168 the same would have cost me $35 at my vets in Salem (unfortunately we no longer live there but it will totally be worth the drive.). It appears Banfields main purpose of the visit was to SELL us their pet insurance or medical plan whatever you call it. When I challenged it the person at the counter was EXTREMELY rude. I operate a business and believe that being honest and ethical is the foundation. I don't mind paying for my dogs to be taken care of and wouldn't have minded paying for a physical (if that is their policy) but I should have been told that when I made the appointment. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE AGAIN. read more

We have been using Banfield for about 17 years. Overall, I'd choose a solid 4 for the Chad Drive location in Eugene but our main vet, Robin Coker for the entire time, is an absolute 5 star when it comes to professionalism and customer service yet, because we are comfortable relating to her on a more personal level, we like to simply refer to her as "Robin". I/we have never felt rushed, and she takes the time to answer any and all questions my husband and I have. Adjustments are made when necessary, such as having the pet exam in a room because one of our dogs gets so stressed out going into a kennel. We are grateful for the care we receive, for the concern, compassion, and follow up for starters. Once in a while, we deliver something for the staff in appreciation. I wish to share a small part of our most recent experience a few weeks ago January 2017. A brief scenario leading up to it, is that our beloved deaf male canine, Tank, had some unfavorable test results and we were referred to Oregon State University for further testing. Our dog was diagnosed with chronic hepatitis and it was also discovered he had copper disease. Several plans were developed to try to manage the condition but his liver was not working very efficiently. Eventually, the disease progressed and his fluids were backing up into his abdomen. Robin referred us to the "Q" street emergency hospital where they removed five liters of fluids to relieve and reduce the bloating but confirmed his liver was basically non functional. Sadly, the time had come that we called Robin for a recommendation for in home assistance to end Tank's suffering. Euthanasia, means "good death"...-a peaceful, painless goodbye. When Robin offered a referral, she mentioned she could come also, my husband said the heartfelt gesture was not necessary. Molly, from Pacific Magnolia Veterinary come to our home and gently walked us through this very emotionally hard time for us. Robin had the day off and gave up some of her own precious time to be there also. My pets know her and she had brought them something yummy to eat. I really can't put into only a few words the bond that I'd formed with Tank but as difficult as it was to help him transition to the spirit world, we are very grateful for the work Molly provided and the blessing of having Robin there with us. read more

Took my dog in for a routine spay along with an umbilical hernia alter and deciduous teeth pulled. I have two complaints. First, my dog came back with blood all over her abdomen. I would assume it is routine to clean the area that was just cut open before and after surgery. Secondly, we asked for them to keep the deciduous teeth three times and that didn't happen. I'm sure a lot of people ask to keep them so it shouldn't come as a shock. Instead the vet came out laughing and saying I hope you didn't want the baby teeth, cause I didn't save them. I'm not the type to post reviews because it is usually something I can just brush off my shoulder and move on. However when I'm paying a shit load of money and putting my dog at risk I think some professional courtesy isn't far from expected. read more

I was very offended that the women vet put down our other vet and how he had told us to treat our dogs ear problem and made us feel as if we were horrible pet owners. Will never use this place ever again and caution anyone else that has a pet with a problem. Go to a real vet!! read more

where to begin.. so i got the wellness plan for my bulldog and ended up cancelling it because they never had any time available to see her even in emergency situations..she had cherry eye surgery in one eye and it wouldn't heal for weeks.. so i kept having to take her back and they would give her pain meds and blood serum drops, etc.. etc.. until finally they found a stitch that had been scratching her cornea the whole time... omg .. it was an awful experience and they were very expensive (850$) even with their wellness plan that is supposedly to save money.. so when she got cherry eye in her other eye we took her to Santa Clara Animal Hospital on River Road and they did an excellent job and it was cheap (350$).. :) read more
