Dr. Amanda Bogdonovich (excuse me for misspelling), is the WORST Vet I have ever met in my 67 years of life! I disliked her dark-haired Vet Assistant who said terrible things about my spouse, who used to bake fresh chicken so my dog @ the time & throughout his life (we had him for about 9 years, constantly @ local Vet in Veneta for 1st 3 years; Veneta Vet, inept & thieves, uncaring..period. We went to 2 other Veterinarians on W. 11th, W. Eugene, who acted inappropriately. Then after COVID, around '22, we ended up @ VCA w/Dr. B., Veterinarian (if you want to call her that). Note: Duke was a rescue since 9-10 months old, found in a garbage bin & almost dead, ending up with lifelong medical & serious issues. As far as the VCA Our dog had been DOTED UPON since we adopted him @ 10-11 months old; Dog was always UPSET, unlike @ any other Vet he'd been taken to since we had him, partially because they wouldn't let us go back with him upon visits. Who knows WHAT occurred back there without us being present! Vet COMPLAINED ON THE PHONE to me, after thyroid bloodwork was done/processed, that he was 6 or so pounds overweight !?! Vet also complained & was NOT NICE on the phone, complaining that Duke needed his teeth cleaned! That was LEAST of his issues. Rude & callous! Vet was a NIGHTMARE! We took care of Duke more than most would or could! Duke suffered with internal issues ALL his years, & before we took him to VCA, requiring meds from the start to the end. We spent well over $20,000..NO JOKE, on our fur baby that included great dog insurance (not cheap, but good). He had premium dog food, fed BY HAND every day of his life, treats, toys, fresh meat with his food every single day, 2 acres to run on & play, & all the attention any dog would deserve! We ended up going to 2 other Vets on W. 11th, AFTER we dumped VCA, but those Vets were ok @ 1st, but turned out to be non-caring, only wanting to make $$$. I ended up @ last 2 years of Duke's life @ Ark Veterinary, Barger in W. Eugene. My gosh, not only did VCA in Veterinary in 2024, MISDIAGNOSE his ear infection as fungal (after a good $300-$400 visit there), we took him 1 week later to ARK Veterinary, finding out his infection was BACTERIAL & NOT FUNGAL, & I/we were given the correct meds to fix the issue. We had to pay about $250-$300 a week later to ARK to save our dog from MORE sickness that could have been PREVENTED. & I stopped going to VCA IMMEDIATELY, staying with ARK Veterinary. They REFUSED to reimburse the fees for tests/meds @ VCA, even a partial reimbursement. ARK Vets & assistants have compassion, care, love, & BRAINS to properly diagnose a sick animal. My baby boy, Duke, 10 years old, died in my arms @ home on 4/10/26 & I thank GOD that he was under such awesome care & Ark Veterinary & NOT VCA! read more

From the very first moment we our family had any interaction with the office staff, they have been unprofessional, rude, condescending and dismissive. It started when my husband was 7 minutes late to an appointment and I received a call that we were going to have to reschedule. The next problem was that we were allowed a free visit from the shelter we adopted from and we were charged. Not only that , there clinic offers the first visit free promotion which was not offered. I called to get this taken care of and spoke with the office manager Tara, who was very helpful, and she told me that she would speak with the medical director and get back to me. After calling back everyday for a week and speaking with the same rude receptionist nothing was resolved. It was never about the money, originally it was but that quickly changed to principle. I'm not usually this person, but I need you all to know to not take your beloved pets to Dr. Amanda Bugarovich (or anyone, for that matter) at VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital. We had our worst veterinary experience in Eugene there this week. Our old beagle had an incident on Tuesday that left her with a knocked out tooth and an unknown/mystery injury on her lower back. She wouldn't let us near it, but we noticed a crusty patch of hair, which we assumed was blood. We brought her in to VCA the next day and made sure to explain the incident and mention what we thought was blood on her back. They assured us they did a thorough exam and that it was probably nothing more than a bruised back. We brought it up *three* different times. Twice when we brought her in, once the following morning during the follow up call. They sent us home with some anti-inflammatory meds for her back pain and an estimate for dental work (the original purpose for the visit). We took her home on Wednesday and gave her the meds, but she still seemed incredibly uncomfortable. Nothing helped and she was still breathing heavily, restless. Thursday morning when she woke up her bed/pillows/blanket were covered in blood. We mentioned this to the Dr on the phone, she shrugged it off again and told us that it was likely coming from her mouth. Throughout the day we noticed drops of blood all over the house, on the rugs, the hardwood floors, her bed. And she was visibly very uncomfortable. Our dog doesn't complain, and can handle a lot. She's knocked teeth out and kept playing, sprained things and kept going. Knocked the wind out of herself and then gone swimming. She's a tough girl. A true hound dog. She was audibly crying this week, twitching and yelping anytime we got near her lower back. By Thursday evening the blood was still flowing and we noticed that it was coming from....her lower back. We called the vet again and the receptionist told us that the dr was gone for the day and to wait until the next morning for a phone call. I lasted about 20 minutes but couldn't stand seeing her cry in pain while bleeding, so I called the vet back. Demanded to speak to the Dr who sent her home to bleed in pain for another full day. I was met with so much resistance, zero sympathy or apologies and no effort was made to try to soothe us. Admittedly, I became less cordial as time passed, but my dog had her head on my leg, crying, while I was being told to calm down. The woman on the phone kept saying "it just isn't going to happen. you will just have to wait". Still no mention of the actual dog that was dripping blood all over the house. No empathy for the dog. No empathy for the worried owners. One trip to the emergency vet, 3 hours and another bill later, we learned that she had an abscess on her back that burst when she fell. On Tuesday. She had been bleeding for three days by the time we found it. Thank god that the emergency vet. If we hadn't had this service she would have waited another full day and maybe been seen by a competent vet. After another call to VCA today, during which they learned the actual cause of her pain and bleeding, and we have still received no apology, no attempt to remedy the obvious oversight and negligent care and zero accountability from anyone in the office. They refused to refund us the cost of the office visit, despite having done very little to actually find the source of our dogs pain. Such a horrible experience. They invited us to remain their customers and said that they are still willing to do her dental work, but there is no world in which I am leaving my defenseless elderly dog in their care. They have proven that we can't trust them to do what's best for the dog, and that they don't listen to owners' very valid concerns. The obvious oversight in appropriate care is upsetting in and of itself, to double down on such poor customer service is not redeemable. Never again. They have been thorough and patient and even called us back within hours when we called with questions. Won't allow people back there with their animals. They seem very shady. They claim it's due to Covid restrictions but none of them other than the vet were wearing masks. One of the women had a very nasty attitude when explaining their Covid restrictions and did not do enough to expeditiously return my dog from the exam room promptly when I explained my concerns. It's December of 2023 and I can take my infant child into an actual hospital without issue, they should move on. Was able to find another VCA in Springfield that isn't being so ridiculous. read more

Wow. There's so much to be disappointed about when it comes to this animal hospital. Bullet points seem the easiest. 1. They will not allow you to go back into the care rooms with your pets because they are choosing not to lift covid restrictions. This is July 2023. 2. They told me I need to medicate my 10 year old cat before bringing her in because they felt as if she showed to much stress when taken back alone. I have never had to do that before switching to this vet after moving here last year from Montana 3. They pushed us into a "care plan" that cost almost $1000 for the cat and $600ish for the dog. I cancelled for the cat almost immediately due to unnecessary testing they wanted to do because "it's covered by the insurance" 4. They refuse to fill the flea medication that they prescribed for the dog without seeing him every six months. 5. They are ridiculously bad at communication - I had to call 4 times for the first appointment. Had to leave a dozen messages for a call back regarding wanting to cancel service. 6. If they care about animals and not the all mighty $ - it is really hard to tell. Because every single conversation I had with them ended with "it's mostly covered in the care plan, you should do it!" 7. I made the mistake of trying to go the hospital to pick up medication before calling and was admonished for ENTERING the building without calling first - because of Covid regulations. I was made to feel as if I had crossed some sort of line by stopping by rather than calling first. Again this was in May of 2023 after all had been lifted. 8. After removing my cat from their care last November, I received no less than 10 emails and even more texts trying to get me to schedule the next appointment monthly. Each time I responded with the fact that my animal is not in their care anymore - I was told it was a computer mistake. I received yet another last month. 9. Today - at 8am I called ahead to get my dog's flea prescription refilled only to be told the Doctor had to look at the records and that they would contact me when they were ready. As they are on the way home from my husband's work, I thought he could pick them up on his way home after work. Still hadn't heard back so I called again and was told "it's still on the Dr's desk, she hasn't looked at it - so don't have him stop by". She then said she would call when the Dr has time to check it. In conclusion - the service is awful. The follow up is awful. The communication is horrendous and the "Care Plans" are shoved down your throat from the very first appointment when you walk in the door. You are meant to feel like a bad pet parent if you don't sign up. I have already looked at other veterinarians but should have done my due diligence prior to see the ratings. I had a great experience at VCA over the span of a couple months. I discovered that my cat had a serious health issue on a Friday night. I needed to find a place that was open early on Saturday. While most vet offices are closed, VCA is open at 8am on Sat and Sun. Even better, they were able to have me come in right way. I had to wait for a while in the waiting room. Luckily they have a very nice spacious waiting area and the free coffee and cookies were very appreciated. The vet on duty was able to figure out the problem and do a surgery the next day. I had to come in a couple more times for various checkups and procedures. They were able to successfully fix my cat's broken jaw and she is doing great. Everyone I dealt with -- receptionists, assistants, doctors -- was really nice, caring, and professional. Overall I am happy and thankful to everyone for making this stressful experience as smooth as possible. read more

Nice enough people, thought it was odd that they called my partner and discussed payment with her and never told me about the cost until i had my cat back. Even though I was the only person who brought him in. On top of that, I paid $490 for my 6 month old kitten to have a normal check up, 2 vaccines and 2 blood tests. (He's a healthy cat) Feel like they tried to pull a fast one on me and I don't really appreciate it. Maybe don't wear your nice clothes inside this business and they won't price gouge you like they did me. Ridiculous! First and only time, and I will never have business there again. I don't think the 20 fish in the huge fish tank they have even amount to the overages I was charged. Maybe they have compensation bonuses based on how much they can suck outta you, who knows. Our beloved pooch fell ill on the weekend when our regular veterinarian was closed. We used VCA for their urgent care service. They were outstanding. Great customer service. Dr. Sullivan was amazing. She was very kind and thorough. She called multiple times after we were discharged to make sure everything was going well with our dog. Once again had a very gentle and caring experience with the staff here. My Augustus had a bad wound and needed some surgical care. It's pricy, but they worked with me and helped us make this an affordable possibility. They answered my questions, and showed compassion for us and our cat. I especially want to thank the technician who helped us, but I don't have her name. She used language that was thoughtful for my kiddo to grasp what was going on, and never made me feel like a terrible cat mom for my lack of funds. And doctor Kennedy, again, for her honesty and clarity and quick action. I have been going to the Westmoreland/VCA clinic for over 25 years and will never go to another clinic/hospital. The staff and Veterinarians have provided excellent care every time we need to go to the vet. The staff are always smiling, professional and express a positive and loving attitude towards me and my dog. Dr. Kennedy and Jona have always gone out of their way to love and provide amazing care to me and my dog. They saved my dog when he had Pancreatitis a few years ago. I can never say "THANK YOU" enough for the amazing care they have shown us. It absolutely shows that the staff & Veterinarians love what they do for a living. I highly recommend the Westmoreland VCA clinic and would NEVER go to another clinic. Conversation: "I have a stray kitten, how much is a full regime of vaccines for a kitten from begining to finish" "I cant tell you that, the doctor has to see your kitten and personalize a vaccine schedule for you. I'd love to schedule you for an appointment" After starting to state that there website said when vaccines start, how often vaccines are given, and when they end, I was hung up on not even 4 words into my sentence. There is a preset schedule of vaccines from 6-8 weeks, every 2-3 weeks, until 16 weeks, which is even stated on their website, and many other vets. We took our two dogs to clinic to have them checked out for chronic dry cough. We ha an appointment and were seen with no waiting. Because our dogs might be contagious they let in to an exam by way of side door. Brandy, a vet tech saw us almost immediately and asked good questions and was extremely observant of both dogs. Dr Seth Thomas examined both and discussed treatment options that were financially conservative yet dealt with the problem. Dr Thomas spent about an hour with us explaining his diagnosis in lay terms. This is a goto place and would recommend to anyone who want kind care from knowledgeable staff. This pet hospital is so unprofessional and disorganised. We made an appointment last week for my pet to be seen for his foot condition -- a second option is what we were after. Our appointment was today at 3:00 pm and we even received a call over the weekend confirming the appointment was at 3:00 pm today. We showed up on time at 2:59 to be told that our appointment wasn't until 4:30! I played back the recorded message their staff left me just to prove I'm right. The front staff (Jocelyn?) told us we could wait around and they would try their best to squeeze us in. WTF! Is that the point of making an appointment or a walk in? I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they are into surprises and disappointment. What a terrible waste of our time to drive all the way to this place for what? Update: I spoke to their office manage who really was trying hard to apologise and make up for their error. I've even received a nice letter of apology and a coupon for a free visit as a peace meal. Unfortunately, my trust with this vet practice has so diminished to the point of no return. But maybe with time, all wounds are healed. read more

Dishonest, pushy and always trying to up-sell. During my first encounter with VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital they were pushy and tried to convince me that my dog had fleas in order to sell me flea medicine. She is short haired and sleeps on my bed, and definitely has no fleas, then or now. I sometimes mention to healthcare workers that I am a nurse, so they might feel freer to use medical terms and describe things in greater complexity. In this case it resulted in the staff becoming very defensive. That is not a good sign. After waiting a week for my appointment, today I came in to get a basic lab test run (I just needed a clear poop sample to sign my pup up for doggie day care) and they lied to my face and insisted that it was a legal requirement for them to do a full examination of my dog in order to run her fecal sample through the lab. The needless exam would triple the bill. Frustrated with the constant up-selling I took her down the road to the competition, and despite being a walk up with no history at the clinic I was seen immediately and found that there is no such legal requirement with lab tests. The competing animal hospital was quick, friendly and helpful and they will definitely be getting my business from now on. read more

You probably don't want to deal with this place. Nothing pisses me off like scheduling a simple grooming, taking time off work to take my dog down there (and "there" is way out West 11th, not Westmoreland area as the name indicates), and then being told they won't groom my dog because they don't have his vaccinations on file. Like that's my fault? Please. I would've brought his records if you had asked for them when I scheduled the appointment. I'm a reasonably accommodating guy, so I offer to run home and get them. Oh, we can't do that, our groomer leaves early. Uh, you just dragged your customer down here for nothing and nobody in this huge place can groom a dog after 3:30? No, they said, and you wouldn't have this problem if you switched from your vet to us, we have really great vets, are you sure you don't just want to switch? That struck me as pretty shady. Finally scheduled another appointment to get my dog's nails trimmed. This time I showed up armed with all his records. They took over half an hour sifting through the records, consulting with someone in the back, calling my vet...you would think these folks were handling nuclear launch codes, not pet vaccination records. They finally agree to trim his nails, and the desk clerk says helpfully, well, you really should get a full grooming, it's only a few dollars more, just doing nails is a ripoff. Great, I say, let's do that. Oops, we can't, we have to start full grooming appointments by 3:00, and it's 3:15. WHAT?!? I got here at 2:30 for the appointment and you have been screwing around ever since. The groomer does a nice job, but considering the aggravation VCA puts you through and the prices they charge, you're probably better off doing your own grooming. Plus, they cut back her hours and now she works like 9-12 three days a week or some ridiculous schedule. Just go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle. read more

I have been taking my corgi here for a couple years now, though her visits have been very infrequent since she is relatively young and in good health. A few weeks ago, though, I noticed her ears were bothering her (constantly shaking her head, scratching her ears, rubbing her head on the carpet, etc.) and gave VCA Westmoreland a call. I called near closing on Friday and they were able to get her in the next day. The assistant was wonderful trying to put my pooch at ease before the vet came in. The vet looked her over thoroughly, asked a lot of questions, took samples from her ears, and determined she had a double ear infection. He was very professional and friendly. He prescribed her a painkiller (for some reason her ears were more painful than what is typical), as well as some topical medications. When it came time to apply the topical medications a couple hours after getting home, my dog became extremely distressed and did everything she could to get away from me, including snapping at my hands (a testament to how much pain she was in). Because I was having so much trouble applying the medication, one of the vet assistants volunteered to teach me some techniques to apply it in such a way to make my dog more comfortable. I was able to bring her in the next day and with the advice of the vet assistant, as well as a better muzzle she gave me to borrow for the rest of the week (my dog had figured out how to get out of the one I had) I finally could administer the topical medication with much less hassle. Now that it's a few weeks out, her ears are no longer red and inflamed, and they don't seem to be bothering her in any other respect. I am very happy with how well VCA Westmoreland took care of my little girl! Other pluses: -Great hours: they have weekend and weekday evening availability. -Beautiful new building: this was my first time in the new building on West 11th, and it's spectacular. Very clean, comfortable, and calming. Parking is also a lot easier at the new location. -Great support staff: I mentioned the vet assistants and vet were great, but the receptionists are very friendly as well. read more

Their professionalism and integrity was way over the top. Dr Sheets and the entire staff went out of their way to make her, and us, feel at ease and comfortable. The determination he showed in finding the cause of the pain, swelling and scary high fever was truly amazing. One day later after her two day stay, she was wanting to play catch in the back yard. To bad I dont live in Eugene because the vet we saw here was great. We were driving through on a road trip and our dog got in to trash the day before and had stopped eating on the day we visited the vet here. They got us in for an appointment as soon as we got in and were so prompt and understanding. Money was short for us and they worked with us to make sure our dog was ok without the huge price tag. The vet also called us the next day to check in on our dogs health and make sure nothing was getting worse. The best vet I've ever found. I have a soft spot for animals, which means I'm always the sucker who ends up taking home the stray on the street. I found a cat who was malnourished, full of parasites, had a fever, and was just in terrible shape. I took her to Amazon vet clinic and the vet said she was fine, then sent me on my way. She was not fine. That evening she became lethargic and was ill through the night. I called VCA Westmoreland and they got me in the next morning. Lots of tests, work, medication and surgery, but in the end, she made it and is now a healthy happy kitty. Since then, I take all my pets to VCA. We always see Dr. Kennedy and the AMAZING vet tech Jona. They're both wonderful and I can't rave enough about how compassionate they've been. Without hesitation, I suggest these guys. Plus you get a free visit when you adopt a new animal. There's no reason NOT to go! read more

Our dog had been vomiting for two days so we took her in expecting X-rays and fluids. The vets did just that and were SO KIND and helpful. They asked us to come back the following day for additional X-rays to see if the small mass her lower intestine had moved. Thankfully she didn't need surgery. The whole staff here is welcoming, with smiles and open arms. The rooms are all very clean and the building looks brand new inside. We will likely switch over to VCA as our regular vets. read more

I LOVE WESTMORELAND VCA!!! The staff her are incredibly friendly. The vet techs are wonderful. And the doctors here are superb. I would never go anywhere else. I have taken in a couple of my cats and our dog. The staff has always worked with us to get our animals in when needed. The utmost attention has been paid to animals. They have always received quality care. I have even had to travel to California with my kitten when she was sick and the doctors and staff worked diligently until they were able to find a local pharmacy to call in the medication that my kitten needed while I was down there! The plan of care is always laid out and well explained. Things are never rushed. There is always time for questions and they are always willing to take the time to answer any questions that you may have. The people and the service here reminds me a lot of the midwest in a small town, it's about the animals and the owners, and doing what's best for the animals and giving the owners every available piece of information, choice, and opportunities to do what is best to keep their animals happy and healthy. I will never go anywhere else, nor would I ever recommend any other, than Westmoreland VCA. Very feline friendly! FIVE STARS!!!! I was in need of a vet on a Sunday, and contacted the emergency clinic in Eugene (5 stars to them also). Their cost was higher, due to it being an emergency clinic. They were kind enough to refer me too Westmoreland Animal Hosp., who is open on Sundays. My little 13yr. old Persian kitty (5lbs.) was vomiting and had diarrhea over the weekend. She had not eaten much in two days. Westmoreland Animal Host. got us in Sunday, within 2 hrs of their opening. Helen Kennedy, DVM was so gentle and talked softly to my little girl. I could not be happier with the services both of my dogs have recieved from Dr Sullivan and the whole staff. My dog broke her leg in July and it was the only urgent care I new of and new someone who had recieved amazing care for their dog. They went above and beyond for my sweet girl. I was thoroughly informed of how to best care for her splint and preventing sores. After the amazing care we recieved for her I was comfortable enough to bring my very nervous rescue dog in. The office staff on shift made sure the lobby was clear for him to not only come in, but leave safely. The vet tech Courtney sat and talked with us and him so he could become more comfortable with her before the exam came in. Dr Sullivan did the same. Do not take your pet here. Dr. Alu tried to get me to spend close to $3000 on my cat for dental work when she knew that she likely had cancer ( multiple myeloma) according to the internist notes. The clinic then attempted to gag me with a release of liability form in order to get refunded $100 of unnecessary tests that I requested even though they knew she probably had cancer. The Dr. never mentioned the possibility of cancer even though I myself questioned that as a diagnosis several times. I had to request testing for leukemia and aids which of course were negative because she probably had cancer. Absolute disregard for my emotional state or my cats comfort. They should have recommended euthansia immediately but of course &150 doesn't compare to $3000. They only care about your money. Do not go there. I am giving a 1 star because of the service I received. I never actually had them look at my animal as I was turned away. This star rating is purely off the service that I received prior to an appointment. I called at 3:30PM to ask if they take walk ins and if I could come in for them to see my cat as it was an emergency and on a Saturday while my normal vet is closed. We loaded up the cat in the car and arrived at the vet at around 3:55PM. Upon walking in the door I wasn't greeted or said hi to. I walked up to the front desk and asked for them to see my cat. The lady with short blonde hair (didn't catch her name and she didn't even introduce herself or say hi) let me know that they don't take walks in and can see me tomorrow at 4PM. I told her that we just called less than 30 mins ago and then a brown hair chick apologized and said that she didn't realize they were double booked. I then had to leave with my car after waisting the gas and the time to come see them. There was 3 cars in the parking lots and only 1 person in the waiting room. They certainly didn't look too busy! The blonde woman said they're doing important surgery in the back and didn't have time. We left disappointed and without assistance. Even with the free 1st appointment, I would not, at this point in time, recommend going to this vet. I have 2 pet rats so it's been difficult to find a vet in the area who will take them. Dr B has been great taking care of them. It's a bit difficult to schedule an appointment since they are busy a lot, but that's my main complaint. They've been helpful in all other areas. read more

I loved this place! My cat got injured pretty bad. I called in and they had me bring him in and do surgery on him that morning. I've been back twice now and never waited for than 3 minutes to see someone. The staff was so friendly and they called numerous times just checking up on Mr. Cat's progress. read more

This place is the finest I've seen in my 40 years of owning animals. I'm a surgical technician and have high expectations when it comes to care for my pets. We own two English Bulldogs that are in excellent health and recently moved to Eugene two years ago. Finding a vet that not only cared about our animals and was doing what they are passionate about was a hard find for us. We went through two other vets before Westmoorland was recommended to us by a friend. Dr. Shane Sheets was nothing but friendly and professional and I knew after 5 minutes he really wants to do what he does. Support staff is exemplary. Dr. Sheets had me visit with his assistant while he sat on the floor to get to know his patients. After 5 minutes he offered every explanation and detail before I could even ask a question. We needed a fine needle biopsy and he performed this and a pathological diagnosis, providing pictures on his cell phone of slides displaying cells that were abnormal. He was scratching his head on this and had every vet in the hospital look at these slides as well. The group is stumped on the diagnosis so the slides are being sent to OHSU. Dr. Sheets even knew the pathologist there and spoke with him. Results could be back as early as today and if surgery is necessary they will get our girl in the next day. Dr. Sheets even came back out to the lobby when I was paying my bill to ask me where we purchased Mercedes from. He had information he just found that showed a certain area of the country may have caused the condition of what we were looking at. Today was my third visit at this clinic and i will never switch. The staff is kind and so helpful, we always feel welcome. we recently adopted another animal and they were very accommodating of having a cat and a dog in the same visit. The Doctor is knowledgable and very patient as i asked my usual 100 questions. The check-out receptionist effortlessly helped me through my first use of my new pet insurance, and even printed me several blank copies of the form i needed (which i didn't know i needed until i got there) so i didn't have to go online and find it myself when i get home. I love this office so much, and would highly recommend. I just didn't want to write a review until we'd had several visits, just to check consistency. Thanks for reading! read more
