Disgusting customer service!! At first Franklin told me that my file couldn't be transferred over from a different location because their service was down and basically dismissed me. I was short on time so I asked him if he could call the other location and see if he can get the information over the phone. Then he called and magically the file was able to be transferred over. After that he told me that he still can't help me because he couldn't find the prescription, which I had to walk him through how to find it. Then he told me he can't help me because the prescription was "expired" I waited 45mins walked Franklin through something that he's suppose to be the expert at with no absolutely solution to my issue. Biggest waste of my time. So I left, called a different location and they were able to solve my issue in 12 minutes. read more

I was overcharged for services for one of my dogs and I have a-wellness plan. The initial quote was $1100, first bill was over $1500. Followed by 2 additional charges for $180 each. Tests were done that were not needed based on the vet's initial Diagnosis. I was charged additional costs for those unneeded services with an emergency fee surplus charge. I stated I didn't need nor want the extra services and was told by a desk associate, that "its all or nothing". Basically they would not treat my dogs' pancreatitis without doing a fecal, Giardia test, and other unnecessary tests and charges unrelated to his acute pancreatitis Giving 1 star for the vet who is very thorough- Dr Frake! Awesome doctor who cares about the patients. The admin/ desk staff on the other hand has on 2 separate occasions played this game with overcharging and upselling services. read more

THE WELLNESS PLAN we've had for a least ten years @$59 a month. This includes 2 comprehensive visits per year, this visit keeps our dog up to date on all vaccines, rabies, fecal testing & teeth cleaning which involves blood work and anesthesia. This is a HUGE SAVINGS. Another PLUS is the staff and doctors have all been wonderful, absolutely top notch care! HOWEVER THE PLAN: ...is suppose to include "walk in" visits when you have a concern, FORGET IT, you must make an appointment. ...is suppose to include imagery should you have a concern, sadly no matter which Banfield you go to, "the X-ray machine is mobile and not at our sight right now". ...supposedly gives you a discount on medicines, we still have to go to online to get better discounts. All in all a good deal. Could be a great deal if they honored what they claim. read more

Not even sure where to start; there are so many things wrong. I called for an annual exam with my wellness plan and got an appointment for today at 4p. I show up, and the lovely tech checking me in says I'm an hour late. The other check in person tells me he tried to reach me multiple times yesterday to change the appointment to 3p, but I have no voicemails, texts, emails, or even record of an incoming call from a 703 area code. But, he says, we'll take you. I sat there for two hours. The lovely tech came and got my cat's weight, etc., and took him for blood work, though I battled what seemed like constant upsell attempts for more tests rattled off in incomprehensible initials. The vet never came in during those two hours, and finally I said I just couldn't wait anymore. I got home and received an email with a summary of the visit. No details whatsoever, not even the blood test results. I will call on Monday and try to get the results and find out if I need to come in again. It's probably a good thing I can't call till Monday. Hopefully I won't still be furious. I will escalate this with hospital management. If I could cancel my wellness plan and go elsewhere I would. I feel like I'm trapped in vet hell. read more

I accidentally left a review here a few months ago when I meant to leave it for the Herndon location. But I did come to this location this past weekend, so new/actually applicable review is as follows: I brought my adult cat and new kitten here on Saturday because they'd both been sneezing. This location is in a PetSmart, which I didn't love... having a vet in a pet store seems kind of half-assed and germy, almost like putting a doctor's office in a mall? But my experience was fine; the adult cat was given medication since he has a history of upper respiratory infections. The kitten wasn't given anything, I guess because he's so little that they wanted to be cautious about giving him antibiotics. They said to call back if the kitten still seems sick, and they left me a voicemail yesterday to check in on them both. They were a bit more sales-y at this location with trying to push their insurance plans. I didn't particularly mind; I get that it's a business, and they've probably got quotas to meet. As long as their primary concern is the health of my pets, which it seemed to be, I don't hold it against them. It might annoy some people, though. I will most likely take my cats back to the Herndon location next time, just because I don't love the idea of bringing my already-sick cats to a store that hundreds of other pets frolic around in all day. A typical contained vet's office like the one in Herndon just seems safer & more sanitary. read more

I live right across the street from this vet, and I am a hard ass when it comes to our Bailey. This place is top notch, and that pertains to all doctors and staff. Providing a level of comfort is not easy, this place does just that. When the doc called me today to ask how Bailey was doing after her visit yesterday, I melted. I don't know why I pay $30 a month for a wellness plan to a company that pisses me off every time I go in. Whether they are selling me "tasty" supplements that my dog won't eat or always trying to upsell me on more services, Banfield has always made me feel like the wellness plan is a well-designed veterinary scam. Today, I went in for a 10am appointment I made online three days ago. I got an e-mail telling me they would call to confirm, but they never did. So, already dreading the visit (as was my dog), I wasn't at all surprised when they couldn't find my appointment. Hey Banfield! Why have an online appointment system if all it does is "request a phone call"? The idea of a wellness plan for our dog seemed like a good idea when Banfield introduced it, but as I cancel it today it is because we have come to realize it isn't really worth the money and certainly not worth the frustration of the service. The actual veterinarians at Banfield are fine... but getting to them is just too hard and seeing them two times a year to get the "value" out of the plan seems like a giant waste of money, time and frustration in retrospect. Banfield also suffers from being co-located in a PetSmart. My appointment today was just to get a rabies vaccine because the PetSmart Grooming wouldn't make an appointment for my dog because his vaccine expired before the appointment. Banfield informed me the vaccine didn't expire until May 31 (not May 1). I took the print out back to the groomer to get an appointment and with 5 people standing around doing nothing (no dogs on any tables) the young lady then proceeded to tell me they were all booked up today as she tried to use system to find me a future appointment. Banfield and PetSmart are perfect companions for each other. They both do a great job at serving pets and pissing off the humans that pay them. Good-bye Banfield! Good-bye PetSmart! read more

you must be your pets advocate here! over 30 days, two visits, 4 shots (distemper,rabies,alergies, arthritis), a prescription, and an "exam", costing several hundred dollars, my 10 yr old dog with a known heart condition was not checked for any progression of coronary disease. after an internet search for obvious developing symptoms and a trip to an emergency hospital this past weekend, we called a mobile vet and euthanized her. they know how to bill you but do they know what a stethascope is? totaling out somewhere around $2k, a little heads up warning would have been nice. read more

We had been going to Banfield Reston for a few years. While the service wasn't always great (getting birthday emails for a dog that had passed away years before, and constant upselling) it just seemed easier. We brought in our dog in early January because of a skin condition. Five visits, four months, multiple tests and $2000 later, we still didn't have an answer. The last visit, the Vet said "maybe it's mites." By then, we had given up on them. Guess what? Another vet confirmed that diagnosis the first time and without all the upselling and incompetence. There may be other Banfield vets that are ok, but the experience we've had with the Banfield Reston has been horrendous. I do NOT recommend. read more

This place USED to be good with the old team and doctors. After that changed 2 years ago, like clockwork, I have been having non stop issues with them. The previous team/docs never called me to complain about my cats for teeth cleaning (hissing, growling, fear of biting) and this team has sent my cats home twice. They keep them there all day after telling me they can't do anything with them without feeding them, giving them water or a litter box (SERIOUSLY?! that's just a basic thing to do even if the cat is a psycho cat) After messing up twice, agreeing to put my cat under for the cleaning, I took off work in the morning to drop them off and they're telling me they booked us for the wrong date (third time!) and can't take the cat. Not only that but didn't warn me to not feed the cat past a certain time. To boot they've been telling me my cat is overweight which we now know neither of them are overweight, they are a special larger breed, and not domestics and are only about 1 lb out of range IF that. They tried to sell me the prescription food too AND told me that the blue wellness food was on recall (no truth to that) but thank GOD I go to Posh Pets in Winchester to get all my pet food who warned me against all this misinformation and has been giving me great food for my cats. The doc couldn't help us with the cats urinating issue until the posh pets lady suggesting a UTI (which was true after they tested him for that) and we looked into changing the litter to pine/cedar instead of corn/clay/pellets which was simply bothering their paws. very simple fix that we had to figure out on our own. The doc also had no interest in giving me a breakdown of the checkup i had to drag some of it out of her, and just generally speaking im switching over to the Sterling location. I don't trust these guys anymore, they have been messing up for two YEARS with us and I think I've been patient long enough! read more

I have been taking my dog to the sterling location, and only made the change to Reston to accommodate work which was in the same town center. I've had a few bad experiences now with them, so time to let everyone know. Our dog had to be tested for Cushings disease. Banfield did their tests...great I should hear back in a few days right? over 10 days go by, and no call. I placed a follow up call just to find out a status. ok tests are positive...now what. Shes been on medications and they asked us to come back in 2 weeks to do more testing, they would call back to schedule. Its now been over 3 weeks and honestly I forgot to call, but so did they. the other day our dog had some issues where her energy level has gone down, and she is not eating. Called Banfield for advise...their response is, well you need to bring her in for a check up like we told you do, but you should take your dog to an ER now, or ANOTHER Banfield. ((yes they told me to take my dog to another Banfield)) no reasoning or explanation given. Currently my dog is at another Banfield location... I'm pretty much convinced this is why google reviews gives this location a 2.7 rating... read more

The worst. I believe the vets are qualified. But the entire structure of this corporate entity is setup not to take care of your pet, but to fleece you, and up-sell you every time you walk in there. Even when you're not there and have switched to a new (better) vet for MONTHS, this corporate leech continues to suck funds from your account. Their sole purpose is to get caring pet owners into their facility, locked into one of their asinine healthcare plans, and up-sell you on every extra service that isn't provided in the plan at ridiculous prices. (Most of which are free at other vet clinics) - Your dog needs his nails clipped, that'll be an extra $$$ not covered by the plan - Needed to get someone to "handle your dog" that'll be an extra $$ in the plan - Your dog has bad breath, you need to come in for a $300+ cleaning not in the plan - The AVMA doesn't recommend vaccines for lyme in dogs... but we're going to recommend you get it $$$... and shocker it's not covered in the plan And then, when you're dissatisfied with being fleeced each and every time you go, and you attempt to leave - they have you locked in for a year - you cannot leave early without paying for the entire year. And if you call to cancel, they still try to up-sell you - it's corporate greed and insanity at its worse... preying upon pet owners who love their animals. I genuinely don't think they care about the animals. I feel there must be some type of horrid incentive program tied to the up-sell. If you genuinely love your pet, and want a veterinarian who has your and your pets best interest at heart - you will RUN to another vet. read more

* First of all - I ALWAYS had a terribly long wait (45 minutes at least) after making my appointments two weeks prior. * OK, then about the Vet: Every single time they were extremely impatient and hectic, and I had to be insisting on getting answers for my questions (if I got to ask them). And of course, as always at Banfield, they are always and every single time trying to sell me extra stuff for my cat. I feel that the doctors there are nothing but sales people. The last time they gave me a whole drama about my cat being overweight (2 lb), ignoring the fact that he always gains weight in the winter time and then loses it in the spring (when he goes outside again). And unfortunately they managed to talk me into buying an outrageously expensive special "prescription food" which should help my cat to lose weight (WHY the heck did I listen??!). Here's the thing that you should know about this prescription food: 1. You can only purchase that food with the prescription card they give you - Why? The answer is: so they can track if you are actually buying it as they told you to (they scan the card every time you buy it). If you don't buy it, they will keep on asking you why you didn't do what they said and so on. 2. The food is super expensive and yet it has chicken-by-product in it and grains (not pure meat protein). So yeah, if you want to run into their Mafia tricks of selling you stuff and controlling your life... yes, then go to Banfield. Oh, here's something interesting - When I said that I'd rather feed my cat the food from Buffalo Blue, the doctor told me that Buffalo Blue is recalling their products. She could not explain why or give me any details, but said that I should not feed it to my cat anymore. And when I asked the staff outside in the store, they had never heard about those news. What's fishy here?? So my recommendation is: STAY AWAY - once your in their system and they have your phone number and address, you won't get rid of them. I will not go back again and look for smaller clinics where the Vets and Vet Assistants are not specialized on selling the store's products. This business is simply disgusting!!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We had an awful experience here with my cat. She has not been eating, which in cats is actually a really big deal and can lead to liver failure (which I'm pretty sure she has, but don't have a firm diagnosis yet). After hemming and hawing with my husband about emergency vet vs Banfield since we wanted to take her on a Sunday, we chose Banfield because they have seen our cat before and they had normal operating hours on weekends, thus no extra emergency fee tacked on to all the work they do. What a mistake that was. I called as soon as they opened and was told that I didn't need an appointment, just walk in. Weird, but okay. I show up and we're waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I hear several people check in with appointments, so I went to the front desk and asked how long the wait would be. I was told 2 hours because of all the appointments!!! I asked to make an appointment, and they asked when I would like to make my appointment. I told them ASAP. I had to come back at 2:45 for my appointment. When I showed up at 2:45, they took me to an exam room and a nurse took our history and went over what our problems are. They asked about her disposition and when I mentioned kind of cranky, they were concerned about her biting. She had not attempted to bite or bared her teeth at all. Nothing to indicate biting would be a problem. After a few more minutes, a vet and two vet techs came back to do blood work on our cat. All three of them began to restrain her and hold her down to attempt to draw her blood. Of course after turning her from this side to that side to try to draw her blood, our cat was irritated and began to growl and bare her teeth. She never actually snapped and bit. We were told because of this, she would need to be sedated but they didn't have time today to sedate her! They gave us a referral to three different area vets, one of which was the emergency vet I had already been in touch with. We still paid a $50 exam fee. Which I get, a vet did take the time to examine her - however quickly and roughly. But they did not provide any care what so ever. I have an appointment with Pender Vet in the morning and when I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was super friendly and totally understood my frustrations and assured me they would do everything they could to avoid sedating my cat. I also mentioned the issue with timing and she gave the vet more time with my cat just to be safe. I will not be returning to Banfield ever. read more

I have had 3 young cats treated at Banfield. The first was diagnosed with a slight heart murmur. We were never advised to have him further evaluated nor apprised of what symptoms should trigger and emergency visit. He died of congestive heart failure in their facility. We quickly acquired two more kittens which we had thoroughly examined by the Banfield vets and were told they were both healthy with no indication (even while anesthetized) of heart defects. 6 months later the male was diagnosed with a heart murmur and is now under the care of a cardiologist. It will be a miracle if he sees his third birthday. Our new vet informs us that there is "No way" this cat did not have a heart murmur upon first examination. He was also prescribed prednisone for a rash. The prednisone is a steroid which should never be prescribed for a cat with a heart problem and it nearly killed him. The folks at Banfield are primarily concerned with getting you to spend $$ on products and procedures that are not only unnecessary but often dangerous. read more

I have been a client of Banfield Reston for 3.5 years. I first had the privilege of meeting Dr. Frake when my Goldie had a UTI. Dr. Frake was/ always is professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful of me and my fur child. Her priority is Sofia's health and well being and being conservative on my wallet. The list of medical concerns and attention Sofia requires is daunting at best. In the past, Sofia had seen multiple vets at the Leesburg and Sterling Banfield locations. However, after receiving the highest quality of care, detailed assessment and love during our first visit Dr. Frake is the only vet I trust to care for Sofia now or in the future. read more

Tremendously disappointed in this location. To start they seem more committed to selling you a "healthcare plan" for your pet than caring for their well being. They provide a lengthy list of issues and health problems for your pets. We have 2 pups one 8 and one 6 years old that have had steady veterinary care their whole lives by some exceptional vets. All of the sudden one has a heart murmur and the cost has now already exceeded what a year or two's worth of care cost anywhere else including Southern California (an area not know for offering things at a low cost) I cannot imagine this place has very much empathy at all for animals and they demonstrated it by muzzling the most gentle dog we have ever known, it was seriously like the sad scene from The Lady and the Tramp with an absolute sweetheart of a dog wearing a muzzle to protect the handlers. The way they treat animals is sad it's not remotely a friendly or caring environment and you get to overpay for the privilege. Shop around and find a vet with some compassion - avoid this factory. read more

The most recent experience we went in and were told it would be just a few minutes. After a half hour we asked again and were told again just a few minutes. We sat there with our very excited pet for a while longer. An hour after after getting there we asked a last time how much longer and they said it might be awhile. After we explained it had been an hour and we wished to have known how long it would have been earlier they were horribly rude. Will NOT be going back. read more

My cat happens to be my favorite buddy and I care about him like a child. He is the first pet I have owned alone as an adult. It's been extremely important for me to not only have my questions answered and my concerns addressed; but also that my cat receive the best care. I discovered the Banfield veterinary office located at the Reston Pet Smart. The first person I met was named Jean. She treats my cat as if he were her own, she was knowledgeable and helpful. The doctors and staff here have been caring for my cat going on 3.5 years. Their patience with my questions, and the attention to detail is more than I had hoped for. So as you can see from my other reviews, I have visited a lot of vets in the NoVa area. Most I was extremely happy with. I have gone to Banfield before in the past, mostly out of necessity, I have adopted homeless cats and received free checkups as a result of the adoption and once my cat had a UTI and Banfield was the only vet available. My thoughts were that it was like going to a Doc in the Box. impersonal, but you are lucky its there when your normal doc is not. They really push products on you, its more a business than a doctor, but it did what it needed to do. With my new kitten, I went to Banfield because they offer this program for kittens that includes the neuter, it's a great deal, IMO, so I figured, its a year, no biggie. I still feel the same way as above. My cat is a superstar there, and the team is very nice and personable-he gets lots of attention-that is good and would have earned this place two extra stars, had I not noticed the following: Lots of dogs! Please see my review about the all cat vets, I prefer these for my kitties. Dirty-its a store, bright lights, LOUD noises (especially dog barking), vet smell, plus dog smell, plus retail smell-UGH WAY too stimulating for an anxious animal. HARD, AWFUL waiting area-and you will wait and get callouses on your butt from those hard orange seats. Be a walk in and you will grow old waiting. Here are some of the things that REALLY concerned me: My cat has special needs based on his breed. The first time I brough him, the vet thought these needs were problems because in other breeds of cats they signal issues like worms and ear mites. Had she done a little research on the breed or ASKED ME there would be no problem. I was charged for those tests. That was frustrating. Second I told one of the vets that my cat was urinating innapropriately on the bathroom rugs and I thought he may have a UTI. She said "no, it sounds behavioral. My cat does the same thing, they like the fabric. There are things you can do, look it up on the internet". Well he kept urinating, as the month went by it just got worse and finally I couldnt find a solution and couldnt take it. I called Just Cats for a second opinion and was told that he need to be seen ASAP as male cats can get blockages and die. They had no appointments, so I took him back to Pet Smart and they ran a culture, sure enough he had crystals in his urine. It made me wonder, had she just run the urinalysis a month ago, would it have been a less problem-it obviously got worse as time went on, AND he soiled many expensive things in the process of me believing it was behavioral and trying to change the behavior. NOT HAPPY. The other thing I dislike, and this is a personal preference and doesnt effect my rating, is the fact that there are so many vets. I prefer to know my vet and see the same person each time I come in so that we build a relationship. Of course the downside of this is small practices are frequently booked-this is why after the year runs out on the kitten program, I will keep Banfield on the sidelines as my Vet in the Box only. read more

I love this Banfield! I came here initially with my mom's poodle to see Dr. Christy, and she & the whole staff were so so amazing! Everyone seems excited to work with us & take care of our pets. My cat is now a "patient" of Dr. Christy & crew, and I know that he is getting the best care possible. I've been to pet clinics/hospitals/vets where the people don't seem to really even LIKE animals or people. Not here! This team loves animals and taking care of them, and they remember me, my mom, and our pets. My sister uses a different Banfield out of convenience, but all of our pets are Wellness plan members. I appreciate how they recommend the Wellness plan when it's really helps us get great pet care at an affordable price- they don't sell it to me, they recommend it to me, and it's worked out so well. If I have to go to a petstore, this one is a good option. This newer location is always clean and seems a bit more quiet than the other ones, despite having the PetsHotel in the store. Their grooming prices are cheaper than Petco's and when we gave them a try last month, my pup came home clean, and happy. They won't "fragrance" your dog unless you ask for it (yah!). read more

I took my dog here for boarding while going on a trip out of state. He was there for 3 nights. When we dropped him off they were very nice about checking him in and making sure we were OK with leaving him. I was told we would receive a report when we picked him up to let us know exactly what he did and how he was during the stay. When we picked him up it took them at least 10 - 15 mins for them to bring him up front after I had already made the payment. We had him in a private atrium room, paid for extra play times, and a snack and play. Total cost was just over $180. When I asked for the report, which we were told we'd get, the lady told me they didn't do one. She offered, in a not so friendly manner, to just tell me what he did from the paper she had in front of her. The paper, being the receipt which only says what we paid for. I have no idea if he was taken for his walks, received his play times and snacks, how he behaved, and whether or not it would be a good idea to take him back. It is now a week since we have had him home and now he has kennel cough. He received all of his updated shots in Jan of this year so I can positively say he got it from Petshotel. I won't be taking him back there and I won't be recommending this place to anyone else. Really not happy with the pick up service and not receiving a report. Won't go back. read more

Well first off was looking forward to drop my dogs off for just a regular visit and nail trim. I was happy with petsmart when I dropped her off in Westminster but this one was just bad at the start. The girl at check in was distracted and couldn't seem to figure anything out and just lazy if she had to do anything. Then I go to pick up my dogs and they don't look like much was done and when we look at there nails they where just sloppy. Then some nails where trimmed some where not and we payed extra for grinding which was done to it seemed like every other paw or more than likely every other dog. Wouldn't recommend the service at all. If they work at a pet store they should like pets I thought. Well not the case here waste of time and money read more

this place is way too expensive!, I have never seen bills so high! They charged me more for X-rays then when I went to a emergency vet in the middle of the night. The vet seemed not to know anything and was in no rush to help my injured dog. I brought my dog in with a OBVIOUS injury and they decided to do blood work before a xray!!! When they finally did a X-ray its was like she had no idea what she was looking at! It ended up costing a fortune and they did nothing to even help him. AVOID...AVOID...AVOID....This Reston Banfield location is completely unprofessional. 18 months ago they caused the death of our cat when prescribed medication with over dosage. We then decided to never ever have them treat any of our remaining animals. We have a German Shepherd who ran out of his prescribed ear medication. When we called for a re-fill, they insisted they needed to see him first and assured us that the medication is available. When I got there, I was met with the most unprofessional vet named "Dr. Frake". She told me that the medication is no longer available at their branch and that she needed to take a swap to prescribe him a new medication for his ears. I agreed. Few minutes later I was discussing with her the dog's allergic condition he had since he was born which causes him to scratch his skin frequently. Mind you, his medical records at banfield clearly states his allergic condition but it was obvious the doctor never even looked at his records before seeing him. She recommended a dermatologist. That's when she got all on the offensive when I questioned her whether or not she had reviewed his records. She spoke with me pointing her fingers like a bully saying: " I'm giving you my educated opinion. It's up to you to take it or leave it". I was like what?? Who the hell do you think you are?? How can you give me an educated opinion when you didn't even look at his records?? I walked out and went to the Sterling location. The Reston location is ONLY interested in up selling and taking your money. They don't care if your pet drops dead today. AVOID at all costs!! Very friendly staff and overall great service. But most importantly Dr. Cabrera was amazing, very caring, kind and professional. They took great care of my little cute dog. Staff called back the next day after our visit to check on my puppy and Dr. Cabrera personally called a week later to check again to see how my dog is doing and asked if I had any other questions or concerns, which was very kind of her to take the time out of her busy day to check up on us. I truly appreciate all their effort to make my puppy feel better, happy and hyper again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We have had an optimum wellness plan for our boxer, Ivan for 5-6 years. We recently relocated from IL to VA and transferred our plan to the Falls Church Banfield location. Banfield is just not equipped to handle any real pet emergency and are not designed to handle complications with aging. This I learned first-hand but it was also communicated to me when I received a VM from a manager in their billing office because I wanted to cancel my plan. I have paid a lot of money to other vets to get second opinions and specialist treatment, so I was hoping to cancel my plan, but because Ivan had already received his annual shots, they were going to charge me for the remainder of the year to cover the cost. Any normal vet charges ~$250 / yr which I've already covered most of and would have been willing to bridge the gap. But they were going to charge me $800 because they were no longer able to provide care for my pet. Now he is dead and they were the ones that euthanized him. I no longer have an animal associated with my wellness plan, yet I am STILL being billed monthly!!! Absolutely ridiculous. As a side note our veterinary friend told us that basically, no one wants to get out of school and work for Banfield, so they docs there are definitely not cream of the crop. They also make it extremely difficult to cancel your plan. read more

We've taken our puppy there from the beginning. The puppy plan is so cost efficient so it made a lot of sense for us. We've been greeted so kindly each time we've been there. All of the staff is extremely kind and loving to our dog. We've seen a few of the vets and each time I leave, I'm pleased with the amount of time they spend talking to us, answering our questions, and examining our dog. One time after her shots, our puppy got a little sick, so I called and spoke to the vet, and she was kind enough to call me the next day to see how our dog was doing. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because sometimes when you make an appointment and you get there, they still make you wait 10-15 minutes past your scheduled time. But it's not really a big deal. read more

Having had multiple dogs (of various breeds and ages) for years, I know a good vet when I see one. These guys, from the receptions to the vet techs to the doctors, are always accommodating - and they all genuinely enjoy taking care of pets. My 9 year old mixed-breed pound pup needed to have a cyst removed, but a week from surgery I saw it had 'disappeared' and went into Banfield in a panic with my boyfriend, also very concerned. The vets treated my concern with true compassion and understanding,and said as UN-condescendingly as possible, that they still needed to remove the cyst and it would probably come back before surgery. They also found an extremely cracked, almost abscessed, tooth which needed removal as well. Upon giving me an estimate for the joint surgery for cyst and tooth removal, I would have to budget several hundred more dollars than the original surgery. Even after saying I would pay what it takes to make my girl ship shape (even though I am by NO means wealthy as a graduate student), they worked hard to shift the numbers to do both procedures for the same price as just the cyst removal. I couldn't believe it. These people truly love animals and have genuine compassion for owners trying to do the right thing. The surgery also went extremely well, and only three days out my girl wants to play tug-o-war again. If you need a good vet in the Reston area, these are great guys. And the prices are some of the best in the area (it just so happens that everything in Reston/Herndon is expensive). read more
