These guys are so locked-in every time I've been here. They always have the right selection of services and items, AND they've got INDIVIDUAL GUITAR PICKS (Guitar Center and Music & Arts sell bags only). They are also local, and have been my ideal instrument shop since I've moved to Stafford in 2022. The people who are usually there are respectful, kind, and overall friendly, and they even take the time to do menial tasks (that I myself would've been able to do, but I go here to do it all at once). I am writing this review as I make the decision to no longer be a customer after more than one year, in fact almost two years. We were very pleased with this store when my daughter began her saxaphone lessons. Her original instructor, Daniel, is awesome and for those continuing to do business with this store, I would highly recommend you seek Daniel out for saxaphone lessons. However, my daughter came home crying after her second lesson with a temporary instructor, Joshua Barnes, on 4/16. After getting her side of the story, confronting the instructor and speaking with management, we've made our decision to not return. I recognize that I may be biased and taking my daughter's side but knowing that we've never had any issues with other people, activities, business, or school, I find it hard to not believe my daughter. -She was talked down to, belittled, and made feel very uncomfortable. -Words that were used: "you should quit," "you need to quit," you're never going to learn" were used. -Tapping a pen/pencil on the easel consistently to create stress did not help out the situation. -Not giving her a break when she shed tears did not help the situation. -Extending her session in that environment did not help the situation. -Joshua's tone and actions were not conducive to a learning environment. While I can admit that this is a "he said, she said," situation, Joshua acknowledged that he constantly clapped his hands in my daughters face. When I questioned Joshua about this tactic, his response was that this method is used to get a student to change their behavior to learn the piece or words to that effect. The point was that he confirmed he clapped in my daughter's face. When Joshua was questioned about explaining why my daughter came home crying, his response was to point out that the piece was too difficult for her and that the band director or any band director should never give students at her level a piece that difficult and that's why she was struggling. If my daughter knew the piece, she wouldn't be taking lessons. It's also not his job to decide what students are given or not. Your job is to teach and his actions clearly showed he is not ready to teach young students. I should have also addressed why my daughter felt uneasy after their first session. I recognize that I cannot go back in time and I hope that my daughter isn't hiding anything from that session. When speaking with the store manager, his message was more along the lines of being concerned for his staff due to my actions in the store and not how things would be rectified or being concerned for how my daughter was impacted. Over the course of almost two years, we've never had an issue with the staff or Daniel, my daughter's original instructor. This new instructor shows up and we have issues. I'd second guess my decision of having hired Joshua. I am also now taking the position of empowering and encouraging my daughter to not ever let that happen again. She should have walked out of that session, but felt embarrassed or frightened. Do not let Joshua Barnes instruct your young children. I'd question management on who he really cares for. read more

Two stars. Let me start by saying, this place was great! I acquired a brand new, mint condition Fender electric guitar with a hard case. I had no use for the instrument, and decided to sell. I believe I brought the guitar in around March of this year. The guitar sold by May. Appraised at $1,200.00 I was given my options for selling on consignment, and also an in-store or online option. The staff were fantastic! Incredibly knowledgeable and the whole transaction was quick and pleasant! Why 2 stars? ... here we go! I mentioned the guitar had been sold, I filled out a form with my personal information on it and the amounts I could receive were explained to me. If the guitar sells, we will contact you, and will have a check ready! - AWESOME! Well, it is now December. I was sitting around thinking maybe I should go pick up that guitar, maybe I can sell it through the yard sale groups or a music store location closer to my home. I called to ask about the guitar, and was informed that it was sold. As happy as I was to hear it had been sold, and I have money waiting for me in time for Christmas, I was equally as agitated to find out the guitar had been sold for months now. I was never contacted, not by email, phone, post card. Nothing. Well, I try to keep my mood positive because, hey! '''Tis the season, right? The young man I am on the phone with, he seems about as shocked as I am. He follows up by saying he is going to contact the owner and get back with me. The owner should be able to cut a check! Great!!! ..... I didn't hear anything from anyone, once again. This was Thursday, I figure, maybe he didn't get ahold of the owner, maybe the owner needed another day to cut a check. Friday passes, I hear nothing. Today is Saturday. I call, and the young man who answers the phone sounds just as in shock as the previous man. I explain the guitar sold back in May, I again am told, I will give the owner a call and will get back with you, you should have definitely had this money already. I said yes, that's exactly what the other guy I spoke with Thursday said. Yet, I've still not heard anything from anyone. So now, I wait. The store itself is wonderful, and my guitar sold quickly. That earns 5 stars in my book. The fact that it sold, I wasn't contacted, I called, never heard back. Gave some time between making another call, and am still getting a run around- brings my 5 star rating down to 2. It's a good thing this man/woman hires great people, their review is hanging on their hard work! read more

Never going back. Everything from the instruments, to the lessons, all the way down to the guitar picks are overpriced. I was charged $67 for a guitar setup, when I got it back the action was so high you could skydive off the strings before touching the fretboard. Never got the frets leveled like I asked for. And although they raised the strings they never even raised the pickups to compensate. Scum of the earth read more

The people there are awesome, it's a fantastic store and very friendly/knowledgable staff. My only complaints would be: lack of some things in stock that would be nice (NYXL strings, spare nuts, etc) and the length of time it took to set up the guitar. read more

I have been a satisfied customer at Bang for over six years. I have purchased audio and electronic equipment for my home music studio; rented a cello and took lessons at the store; and most recently purchased a new banjo for my own use. Great people who care about customers and are fully dedicated to music and music education. Although you would think that prices at this local store will be much higher than big box stores or on-line purchases, just the opposite is true - PLUS - the personal service and their expertise makes it a no-brainer to shop at our local music store. read more

Great store. We have done rent to own on our Instruments for school from here and are very pleased. They always have what we need for our instruments and are incredibly helpful and very nice. They also offer music lessons at a very reasonable rate. So glad we have such a great Music store in Stafford. read more
