The recitals are really impressive though. They put on quite the stage production, with great dancing, music, lighting, acting (no singing though). They do really well at competitions, but I think the community/friendships and fun aspect are more important than the scores. I do know several of their dancers have gone on to dance professionally, college dance teams, NFL cheerleaders, professional actors etc.

Some things I love: *Miss Karen will take kids as young as 2 and doesn't require them to be potty trained. She believes that nobody is too young or too old to dance. *Wide range of classes available including an adaptive dance class specifically for those with special needs. *The focus is on fun, not on competition (though they do have a fabulous competition teams for those who want to compete). You won't ever hear any of the instructors yelling or scolding the dancers for their performance. Everybody is there to have fun while learning to dance. *Appropriateness. All dancers are required to either change clothes in the studio or wear a cover while going between car and studio. All costumes are age appropriate and proper undergarments are required. You won't see any teen strip teases or three year old little girls gyrating all over the stage at recital. Miss Karen really teaches her dancers how to respect themselves and entertain with their talent, not by showing off a ton of skin. *Cost. I suppose this one may be subjective, but I personally felt that the price of classes was extremely reasonable. My daughter took two classes and we were able to afford it without issue. It's pretty good, but it was was more warm than hot when brought out to us. They're trying to feed a lot of people on a kind of stagless schedule, so it's obvious that each dish is prepared pretty far in advance and probably sitting under a heat lamp somewhere waiting to come out. The lasagna came with a couple of very nice dinner rolls and was pretty tasty. The salmon was very well done and came with some roasted potatoes. Also pretty good. There was a risotto dish that wasn't bad but wasn't great just okay. Everyone also gets a small very basic salad. For dessert they had a very nice Bundt cake, some strawberry cheesecake, and Pondoro. All were very good. Now, for the show itself. I have been to many Community Theaters and I don't think I've ever seen Talent like this one before. They really were top notch. Very talented group. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! After that, I have to say things went off the rails a bit. For a start, this is the first "theatre" that had no stage. Not a small stage, no stage at all. We found ourselves, a group of 30-40 people crammed into a large room on the second floor with barely any room in July with AC so weak it was never below 76F. Then the show began. I was expecting a curtain to rise and a stage to appear, but sadly all the story and acting was done between the tables. I will say the acting ranged from surprisingly good to the obviously inispired acting of the audience members who decided to join in. The story was comedic and easy to follow, with references to Sherlock Holmes and even Indiana Jones. Sadly the heat and the terrible location without a stage made it hard to enjoy when the cast is constantly moving around. If they get a proper venue, I am sure they do wonderful things, but this was more like a test run. That I paid for.

I am writing this review as I make the decision to no longer be a customer after more than one…read moreyear, in fact almost two years. We were very pleased with this store when my daughter began her saxaphone lessons. Her original instructor, Daniel, is awesome and for those continuing to do business with this store, I would highly recommend you seek Daniel out for saxaphone lessons. However, my daughter came home crying after her second lesson with a temporary instructor, Joshua Barnes, on 4/16. After getting her side of the story, confronting the instructor and speaking with management, we've made our decision to not return. I recognize that I may be biased and taking my daughter's side but knowing that we've never had any issues with other people, activities, business, or school, I find it hard to not believe my daughter. -She was talked down to, belittled, and made feel very uncomfortable. -Words that were used: "you should quit," "you need to quit," you're never going to learn" were used. -Tapping a pen/pencil on the easel consistently to create stress did not help out the situation. -Not giving her a break when she shed tears did not help the situation. -Extending her session in that environment did not help the situation. -Joshua's tone and actions were not conducive to a learning environment. While I can admit that this is a "he said, she said," situation, Joshua acknowledged that he constantly clapped his hands in my daughters face. When I questioned Joshua about this tactic, his response was that this method is used to get a student to change their behavior to learn the piece or words to that effect. The point was that he confirmed he clapped in my daughter's face. When Joshua was questioned about explaining why my daughter came home crying, his response was to point out that the piece was too difficult for her and that the band director or any band director should never give students at her level a piece that difficult and that's why she was struggling. If my daughter knew the piece, she wouldn't be taking lessons. It's also not his job to decide what students are given or not. Your job is to teach and his actions clearly showed he is not ready to teach young students. I should have also addressed why my daughter felt uneasy after their first session. I recognize that I cannot go back in time and I hope that my daughter isn't hiding anything from that session. When speaking with the store manager, his message was more along the lines of being concerned for his staff due to my actions in the store and not how things would be rectified or being concerned for how my daughter was impacted. Over the course of almost two years, we've never had an issue with the staff or Daniel, my daughter's original instructor. This new instructor shows up and we have issues. I'd second guess my decision of having hired Joshua. I am also now taking the position of empowering and encouraging my daughter to not ever let that happen again. She should have walked out of that session, but felt embarrassed or frightened. Do not let Joshua Barnes instruct your young children. I'd question management on who he really cares for.
