The food was delicious and fast. They may have just opened for lunch. There was no wait. The menus are small to make sure you can have a peak at what you want and order. The set up is interesting. Good thing that it's good food. Because the location is under the actual little shopping center. Have no fear though. It doesn't give you a vibe that you will get accosted by a stranger lol. Then again I haven't been to this location at night. There is outside seating but it's inside but located outside if that makes sense. I did take a pic so you can see for yourself. I think a picture is worth a thousand words. But don't think your convinced stop in and see for yourself. I did like the dumplings I ate for an appetizer and my lunch was actually sesame chicken. Which was fresh and yummy. There was a honey infused soy sauce which I had not tasted before. That sat on the table to have with what you like. I didn't get the actual name of it. It may be something simple but it didn't have a name. So it may be something that they make in house. Either way it was delicious when you put it on your pot sticker and the rice that came with my sesame chicken. With that being said. Stop in and try this spot out. I enjoyed and you should as well. May the good food be ever in your favor

    'Drunken noodle'
    Mel T.

Ordered via DoorDash one Saturday afternoon. I had the "drunken noodles". I use quotations because they weren't really drunken noodles. They don't use the flat rice noodles. Instead, they use a regular, thin rice noodle. They also throw in little cherry tomatoes, so I think it's more like a 'use whatever we have in the kitchen noodles'. I know it wasn't a mistake because two of my friends also ordered drunken noodles, and received the same thing. The actual flavor wasn't bad but I just didn't care for the swap. If they ran out of the flat noodles, it would have been nice for a head's up, because I probably would have just ordered something else. But judging from some of these other photos, the other dishes don't look that great either.

    "Yellow Curry"

The curry is more a broth that is over salted. Uncooked potato, mystery meat, cardboard minute rice. All for $13!

This review is based on my one time visit, and chicken Pad Thai was what I ordered. I'll try to make this one short. It was the only Thai place in town that I hadn't tried. It's on campus, but on a corner and easy to find... As long as you know to look for the awning and steps. It's sort of got a basement feel to it. I think it's been at this location for a while, the decor and atmosphere have an old feel to it, but they do have a 100% listed from the Health inspection. I always go for the Pad Thai on my first venture to a Thai place, so it was no different here. It was garnished with one carrot sliver, and five thin bits of chicken within the pile of noodles. The noodles weren't lacking in flavor, but they were dry... Like the times that I've had Pad Thai warmed up in the microwave the next day. So I added a dash of soy sauce to dampen it up a bit. It was still probably the worst Pad Thai that I've had in Lexington. My husband ordered the chicken cashew something or other, and it too was lacking the amount of chicken that it should've had. The portion was small for a dinner portion. But he seemed to enjoy it. We each had an egg roll prior to our meals, but had we not, I would note that even my portion was smaller than most Pad Thai dinner entrees elsewhere. But it was perfect sized after I consumed scrumptious egg roll. Note to the business: don't be skimpy with the main ingredient, if you want satisfied or returning customers, and turn the tv from Thai tv... at least during March Madness.

My how the mighty have fallen. Bangkok House used to be a pretty respectable Thai option. Not the best in Lexington -- which has been and always will be Planet Thai -- but at least decent. Not anymore though. I should say that I'd probably give Bangkok House two stars except that it does not deserve (and never did, really) the 4-star average rating it has. Hence the 1 star. I went here this past weekend on a visit home to the bluegrass. We walked in around 8 on a Friday evening to an empty restaurant. I ordered Red Curry Pad Ped with beef. The beef was Taco Bell grade, and the curry was almost flavorless. Everyone of the 6 people in my party remarked that their portion sizes were rather small. Particularly if you were to order a seafood entree for upwards of $12, the portions did not match the prices, especially in comparison to other Thai restaurants. My poor experience this time around makes me long even more for the Skyline Chili that used to be in this location 20 years ago.

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

My top-tier chum who literally went to…read morethe school of hospitality and I came by here to meet up with a colleague for brunch last Thursday morning. He's from this general area and recommended this spot, among a few others. I picked it because I liked the vibe, which I stand by in hindsight. Last Thursday was an atrocious weather day, raining for most of the time including the entire morning as we drove up to Lexington from Irvine. Since we'd never been over here, Josie's wasn't necessarily easy to spot apart from the other nearby businesses. It WAS very obviously in this larger strip mall situation (which doesn't seem like exactly the right term, but it's definitely in a building with a bunch of other stores), though we had to walk around almost the entire perimeter from our parking spot on Euclid to find it. Once we did, smooth sailing. Despite the fact that it was a weekday, Josie's was pretty busy when we walked in around 10ish. We WERE heading toward MDW, which could have been a factor, but this seems to be a pretty popular establishment regardless. It feels pretty new - this isn't like an old school greasy spoon diner type of situation - with some interesting artwork on the walls, and booths, regular tables and counter stools potentially available. Our colleague was already there and had secured a booth towards the back closer to the bathrooms, which allowed for some fun viewpoints of most of the restaurant. We were already a few days into our debauchery of a road trip, so I kept it pretty well-behaved - I opted for waffles with strawberries. That's it. The food came very quickly, as did the requested coffee, which might have ultimately been more important than the aforementioned waffles in the grand scheme of things. I honestly don't have a lot to say about them other than that they were perfectly fine waffles. The strawberries were fresh, the waffles themselves were cooked through but not too crispy, and that was that. I think it's a little hard to mess up something this basic, and thankfully all was well. The service was excellent throughout and even though I didn't foot any part of the bill (a thank you to our Kentucky colleague), the prices seemed very reasonable to me - though I also have a completely distorted perspective given that most of my consumerism takes place in the NYC area. No issues here; didn't see a ton of reasons to wander back into Lexington unless somehow Coach Cal comes back to coach the Cats and I miraculously score tickets to something at Rupp, but this was a nice little spot.
