We tried Pad Thai for the first time last night. We walked in through the back (take-out) entrance, but were promptly taken to the front dining room and seated by the window. The restaurant is quite large, airy and bright. The waitress took our beverage orders and returned promptly with our drinks after we'd had a few minutes to peruse the menu. The service was efficient and very friendly. We started with the chicken patties and spring rolls. The chicken patties were tasty but a little overcooked. They came with a sweet sauce, as did the spring rolls. The spring rolls were hot, nice and crisp and not at all greasy. They were filled with quite a lot of cabbage and were fairly tasty. I had the panang curry with pork. It was very good. It was quite thick and creamy, served with steamed rice and had lots of vegetables. My husband had the basil beef which was also very good. It was also served with rice and had lots of basil and vegetables. Our son had the pad Thai with beef. It was also very nice, but the flavour of the beef could have been better. All in all, this was a good meal. If we're back in the area, we will probably return. read more

Wow...staying at a nearby hotel, we just felt like Thai...and fortunately we were near this amazing restaurant. We ordered delivery. I had the hot and sour soup with red curry. My wife had the breaded shrimp with Chicken Pad Thai. I always start to judge a Thai restaurant by its Hot and Sour soup. It was outstanding. The right amount of heat, lots of veggies and tofu. The red curry was terrific as well. I have always struggled to find great food in London BUT now have our favourite place. Once upon a time there was a girl in London who had never really ventured far with her food. The standard beige meal of something from the deep fryer such as fries, chicken fingers or onion rings suited her just fine. On occasion her version of ethnic food would be chicken balls drowned bright orange S&S sauce or baklava because... pastry & honey? Yeah!! But alas eventually that girl grew up and realized there was a whole world of food she'd never had, not to mention that food came in a rainbow of colours and textures. It was somewhere within that journey of discovery that Bangkok Pad Thai came into view. A friend was ordering take out at her house and that was what the whole gang decided to get. The girl was nervous, she hadn't heard of many of these dishes but was assured it was delicious. Spring Roll was the only thing she recognized and ordered two of those and a house pad thai. It was delicious beyond expectations. Now she orders it all the time. The Spring Rolls still are a fave because they are crunchy not greasy, fresh inside and slightly spiced. The Cashew Chicken is her go to main, subbing often the jasmine rice for sticky rice because why not. All those vegetables in that dreamy cashew sauce along with the cashew peanuts and thin sliced tender chicken. Oh, and let's not forget the jackfruit smoothie! Also... yes, that girl is me. I've also been in house once and it was lovely but who can beat delicious eats in the comfort of your home? Yes, it can be a bit pricey so it's not the go to delivery all the time but when we get it never disappoints. Usually makes two meals for me too. read more

Pleasantly surprised when I saw this as the only thai resto on this busy stretch of DT. Wasn't really expecting much til i first walked into the lobby, that's when I knew it was a lot more authentic. Had the usual elephants, wall decor, even the servers were in their traditional garb. On to the food, the green curry chicken was the flavourful, and their version of deep friend banana were uniquely cut up in bite sizes, and instead of ice cream, had whipped cream w/ some colourful, red icing syrup. This restaurant has charm of Thai décor mixed in with a little modernism. The staff members are either wearing traditional gowns or a black outfit with a Thai sash; adding to the charm. The hostess was very friendly and helped the waiters and waitresses with refills. Ran by Taiwanese folk, Bangkok Pad Thai made me hopeful for some yummy Thai cuisine or even better, surpass my expectations. Heavenly beef jerky (neau sawan) was our starter. It was delicious and was displayed beautifully we couldn't wait to dive in. If we could change one thing about this, it would be that the beef should be smothered sauce; otherwise, we would recommend this dish. Things didn't turn out too well afterwards. I had ordered the beef pad see eew (spicy) and my boyfriend, the chicken peanut pasta. Our meals arrived and the waitress left promptly. We were given forks at the beginning of the meal which my boyfriend and I found strange. At most Asian restaurants, you would normally have to request a fork not the other way around. So we had to wave down one of the staff members before we could dig in. (This doesn't affect the outcome of the review but just a side observation). Immediately I noticed that my meal was not remotely spicy and the sauce was way too sweet. I had to wave a staff member again because our waitress was nowhere to be seen. She apologized, got my hot sauce and we continued our meal. My meal wasn't too great but it wasn't inedible. The combination of vegetables, beef and sauce did not mingle. Each piece was good on its own but because it was mixed in with the sauce, it work out too well. Traditionally this is made with Chinese broccoli but I got carrots, red pepper and broccoli. Only the broccoli tasted alright with the sauce. I tried my boyfriend's meal and the chicken was overcooked and the sauce too sweet; similar to a peanut dessert. We finished our meal, waited for the bill and left unsatisfied. Now this place isn't bad, but it isn't worth the price. If we come back, it would only be for their heavenly beef jerky. A side note. Our waitress was missing most of the meal. She wasn't overly busy but we could see her hiding by the bar chatting away. I watched how many tables she had to oversee and there wasn't too many. She also shouldn't have left as soon as she placed our meals on the table. The waitress for the table next to us on the other hand was amazing. She was so attentive of each her tables, friendly and they always had refills. She didn't even need the hostess to help her. Oh and here is the kicker. My boyfriend was given a fairly warm mug for his beer. Warm. Blasphemy! read more

This restaurant looks great inside! The interior design and lighting really contributes to the whole eating experience. I felt the food was just okay, must because they are bland and plain. I ordered a stir fry rich with assorted meat and vegetables and I kept wanting to ad salt to it. My girlfriend ordered red curry pork. I had some of it, and it seemed a bit salty on the other hand. I ordered the Shrimp Green Curry to go for the first time here a week ago. The portion sizes are GINORMOUS which is always welcome. As for the flavor, it was ok. The curry was a little watered down and the lack of shrimp in the curry made me sort of indifferent to the whole thing. The food wasn't bad or anything, just nothing to write home about. Decided to give this place a shot after seeing the reviews split down the middle. It was completely empty when we walked in and it seemed like there was only one guy running the whole show, waiting tables and doing the cooking. He was extremely nice but tended to disappear for long periods of time. They have a 3 course lunch special for only $15/person which is a huge steal if you look at their regular menu prices. They are also super flexible as he allowed me to get a second appetizer instead of a dessert. Oh the fresh rolls are to die for!! I brought the peanut sauce home to use it as salad dressing. The single spring roll in comparison looked a little pathetic and the presentation of the main course dish was lacking as well. I was excited to try the pad Thai from an authentic thai establishment but found that it was salty and left me uncomfortably thirsty. Definitely not the best I've had. Overall I wouldn't find myself going back. I'm sure I can find this amazing peanut sauce at any thai place. read more

We felt like something different from the usual pizza, fried chicken, burgers etc. So we decided to try a new place and chose Tai food. We had heard Bangkok Tai was good so we ordered delivery from them. We started with fresh shrimp rolls and peanut sauce. The sauce in our opinion was a wee bit thin. The Chicken Pad Tai was so delicious and hot. The green curry chicken over steamed rice was outstanding. We will definitely order again but try some of their many different choices. My girlfriend and I found this restaurant through a great deal on Groupon. What delighted me the most was the service. The ladies who tended our table were very attentive and courteous. I loved this restaurant. Went for lunch with my family, and we ordered off the lunch menu, we had a choice of appetizer, entree and desert for $15.00 and it was awesome! We had the fresh rolls, awesome, and Tom yum soup for appies, both were excellent. Then for entrees we had pad Thai and the red curry, which is served with jasmine rice. Again, so awesome, authentic. Dessert was awesome too, fresh mango with sticky rice and ice cream. Service was awesome, staff was friendly and prompt and helpful. Overall, this is a solid Thai restaurant. The drawback to this place is that the prices are too high and many of their stirfry dishes are mediocre at best. What really saves this place are their curries and pad thai. Their red, green, yellow, and panang curries are superlative with just the right consistency and a good amount of heat. I don't bother with anything else on the menu as I've been disappointed with virtually everything else except those particular dishes. Its downtown location also helps. read more
