On our way to Niagara Falls and stopped here for lunch. First impression were wonderful, the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with a fun little bar. The service was excellent and the food came out very quick. We had the Crispy WonTons and they were delicious, filled with chicken. Thaifoon! You are beautiful! After some renovations, this restaurant has gone through one heck of a transformation. The decor is super chic, the flatwear and dishes are super trendy and the presentation is impeccable. I always liked Thaifoon. My last visit was definitely the best service I've had yet. The food tastes the same (delicious) so you won't be in for a real change in that regard. They had an amazing vanilla tea I still think about to this day. The perfect place to satisfy my Thai food cravings!! A little pricey, but you get what you pay for: good quality food, attentive service, and fancy atmosphere. We came at the perfect time as there was one table left. However the seating is quite limited and most tables are reserved, so if you have a party larger than 2, be sure to make a reservation. In terms of food, we ordered Thai iced teas, fresh spring rolls, a coconut soup, street style pad Thai, and the green curry. The pad Thai was pretty standard and the green curry was a little on the spicy side (however I'm a wimp when it comes to spice). The fresh roll with peanut sauce hit the spot and paired perfectly with the sharp flavours of the coconut soup. To finish off the meal we ordered the mango sticky rice, which was unique and different from any dessert I've had before. Would love to come back again! read more

We went here for lunch and we loved it! The service was incredible and the food even more so. The restaurant completely filled up in the short time we were there (which always a good sign). I had the shrimp drunkard noodle and my friend had the pad Thai and they were both delicious. We even had the mango sticky rice dessert and definitely one of the yummiest I have had. So very close to 5 stars. The food here is unreal. However the service has trended down hill since our first visit. To be clear, the food is so very good that we were going for pickup nearly each week, and even did budgeting to see if we could fit it in more. However service is getting so poor that we wondered if we could learn to just make the food at home ourselves. It's getting that bad. If you order online, or in a delivery app, you will still wait to pickup as they seem to mark the order as complete long before it actually is. The staff don't always acknowledge you when you arrive, and will ask you to wait on your feet the entire time. I have even observed senior staff belittling new staff. I have begun wondering if someone is unsure of how to use their order system, as it seems when I arrive they begin to make the food. So maybe they think that they are marking the order as started, but are actually marking it as completed? Either way, it's a horrible experience for the customer. Comfortable, somewhat higher end Thai cuisine at reasonable prices. Their Avo Moonshine was a winner for us. It's an appetizer consisting of 6 crispy dumplings filled with chicken and Avocado, and comes with sour cream and a beautiful cilantro chutney for dipping. An unusual combination, especially at a Thai restaurant, but it's spectacular. Their Pad Thai was flavourful and well balanced, as well! Been here twice and found both experiences to be underwhelming. The food here is tasty, but I personally found the portions much smaller than I'd expect for the price. Had the veggie pad Thai recently and it was good, but I've had similar at places like Pho Lee for much cheaper. The decor and ambiance of Thaifoon is more upscale I guess?and Thaifoon is a dedicated Thai restaurant so I presume the dishes here are more authentic. This was our first visit to this restaurant. We were wandering around downtown London looking for somewhere to eat a late dinner. It was after 9:00 p.m. on a Thursday night and there weren't many places where the kitchen was still open. We happened upon Thaifoon and were happy to see it was still open. The decor was very nice, traditional with a modern touch. The restaurant was very clean and the servers were friendly and welcoming. We ordered a very nice riesling and were told by the (friendly) waiter that it was a favourite of his to drink with spicy food. We ordered the street-style pad Thai with shrimp and the basil chicken with rice. The dishes were delivered promptly and the waiter explained that the basil dish was a bit spicy but the noodles weren't, so we might want some hot chili sauce to accompany them. We said we'd like that and it was delivered immediately. The waiter returned after a few minutes to check on us and ask how we liked the food. The pad Thai was nice, but a little sweet for us. It was served with lovely large shrimp which were cooked perfectly. The basil chicken was good with lots of onions, green beans and red pepper slices and served with a fried egg on top. All in all, the food was pretty good. It wasn't the best Thai we've eaten, but we enjoyed it. The waiter came over with the bill and chatted to us for about 5 minutes about Thai food and other subjects and was generally very friendly. We'd definitely return to this restaurant to try some of the other dishes. read more

I've been to Thaifoon a total of three times and all three were for Londonlicious. That being said if you're looking for a quick meal this is not the place. The food here is fantastic, I will give them 5/5 in that regard. The portions are great sizes and the flavours are wonderful. I had the spring rolls which were piping hot when they arrived at the table, as was the beef pad thai. I really enjoy the beef option since it usually isn't a choice at most places. Dessert was also amazing, the mousse cake was wonderful. The service however is the reason for the two star rating. This is a small place, maybe 15 tables at most, there is no reason why we should've sat at our table with just water for 20 minutes. When a server finally came we just ordered everything right away because we'd be waiting forever. We were sitting for a solid 10-15 minutes between eating our food and getting the next course. Even after we tried to get the server's attention. The food might have been great, but I don't want to sit somewhere for almost 2.5 hours waiting for my food. Next year for Londonlicious, I'll try somewhere else. read more

Our all time favourite Thai take out restaurant just went to Never Again! What happened? The rice needed to be cut with a knife into servings, it was so dry and stuck. The beef in several dishes were of poor quality and chewy, some pieces inedible. The chicken protein was way overcooked and dry. No sauce could restore its texture. The carrots in the main dish were barely cooked, still crunchy. We live 2 blocks away and drove, still the food was lukewarm at best. Perhaps the chef moved from the downtown location to their newly opened Masonville Mall operation. Obviously if that was the case he took with him all quality control and level of standards. I am torn in writing this review. I will begin it with the disclaimer that I have had this restaurant's food 4 or 5 times, but I have never set foot in its building. So my knowledge is limited. I tend to avoid downtown establishments where I don't know of free parking nearby, as I am VERY VERY anti company that runs all parking lots and starts with the letter after h. My wife and I ordered thaifoon as delivery through a certain infamous food delivery app. It was a friday night, and we were ready to party like some real parents with the kids in bed - wine, takeout, and netflix on the couch. Netflix and chill as the kids these days call it. My wife dials up the order and submits it while I am putting our oldest to bed. I come downstairs, and we wait, and wait. and wait some more. Re check the order confirmation email and make sure it has the right date on it. and wait. and wait. TWO HOURS LATER our food shows up at the door with nary an apology. I get it that its Friday and it might be busy, but if people order dinner at 7 and don't get it til 9, maybe delivery isn't in your bag of profit tricks. Amazingly enough, despite all that discontent, I'm only docking them a star. Their spring rolls and street pad thai are THAT GOOD. A big barometer for me in gauging a fried food is how much grease is involved. I want to enjoy my bite, not feel a big ball of guilt for it. The spring rolls have mastered this aspect like Bruce Wayne mastered Ra's al Ghul. Every bite is dry, crunchy, warm, and inviting. The dipping sauce is also homemade and phenomenal. Moving on to the street pad thai (picture attached). This dish is exquisite. I'm a bit of a simpleton in that I don't need the people making my dinner to have certifications or stars, I just want them to bring the freshness and flavour. This dish has more flavour than a pair of zubaz pants. Bean sprouts. Noodles. Chicken. Spice. Everything nice. It's all there. Many a time you will order pad thai from a new place and get some soupy messy ketchupy noodle dish that looks like it was made by a drunk western kid using a microwave. Not the case here at all. A sign of a great dish is how much I lament it not being available on a buffet table somewhere. I'm now in week 3. I would definitely order from this place again, but only if I can find and obtain and train a minion to hot foot it down there and back without spilling anything. Any minion traffickers out there? I recently ordered in as my usual Thai place doesn't deliver and with the continuous stream of positive reviews, it felt like maybe I was missing something. We got the meal for two with beef red curry, shrimp pad Thai and spring rolls and MAN these portion sizes are no joke. I have Thai food at least twice a month, sometimes more. I've had it on three continents. This may be the best I've ever had. The Tom Kah include tomatoes (hadn't seen that one before), and was amazing. Asked for extra spicy, they delivered! The yellow curry was absolutely phenomenal. Pure coconut milk, not diluted. Thick, not runny. And the service is amazing. Asked for no onions, first try included them which isn't a big deal as they're easy to pick out. The waiter noticed, insisted I stop and took it to get it corrected. I've never had a waiter notice and proactively fix an issue like this before. If you're ever in London Ontario, go to this place. It's on the smaller side, only 11 tables. The prices are low and the food is awesome. read more

We got the mongolian Maki app to start and it was ok. Took a little time to come out too, but I think it was early for dinner when we went. Was craving a curry and a search discovered Thaifoon. I ordered in from North London, their Yellow Tofu Curry and some of the fried shrimp rolls. The delivery was fast and efficient and the food delicious. While the tofu curry had only onions, potatoes and bamboo shoots, some carrots would have been the only thing to improve it. Came to Thaifoon for my 6th Londonlicious experience. Their menu for it was $25 and had a lot of options to choose from. This dining experience started off on a not-so-great note since we waited nearly 20 minutes before we ordered food and drinks. However, our waiter later explained that they were short staffed and apologized many times for the slow service. He hoped it didn't deter our experience and that we would come back (I definitely will). That was much appreciated on our end since we heard so many good things about the restaurant and were a little disappointed. Despite this the food was excellent! I started with the Spring Rolls which were fresh and hot. I had the Crispy Chiang Mai Chicken which was delicious. They definitely didn't skimp out on the vegetables or chicken. It was pretty spicy so if you're not a fan, I'd try something else. I finished off the meal with Coconut Ice Cream which had chunks of coconut in it!! So good. I had the Thai Brewed Iced Tea which I HIGHLY recommend anyone to try. Kind of reminded me of Iced Chai Tea. Overall this was a great experience despite the slow service. The food was awesome and portion sizes were big but not too big. I will come back to try some more of the menu! read more

I've had nothing but good experiences at Thaifoon. Really calm, pleasant atmosphere. Delicious food, reasonable portion sizes and friendly staff. The restaurant itself has minimal seating so I try to go during low times since the service is typically faster and there is no wait to be seated. If you try one thing at this restaurant, it needs to be the Thai Iced Tea! It isn't on the menu (as of the last time I went) but it is AMAZING. I've gone back again and again specifically for the Thai Iced Tea but it helps that the food is yummy too. Probably the best Thai food I've had in London. read more

Tried this place for the first time for The London Licious 3 course offering. I ordered the peanut pasta for the main course and it was very tasty (and filling)! I wasn't too thrilled on the appetizer we ordered (chicken and avocado dumplings that are called Avo moon shine). After I ate the peanut pasta, I had no room for dessert so we took a chocolate mousse cake slice home. I might try it again in the future but not my first choice for Thai food in the city. read more

Great value for the amount of food. Fresh rolls lived up to their name but unfortunately did not have shrimp in them unlike other places. The chicken pad thai was excellent- flavourful, chicken was tender, good sauce to noodle ratio, slightly saltier than I usually like but great nonetheless. A number of great sounding desserts- the deep fried ice cream is a feature but would recommend the deep fried plantains with vanilla ice cream - good blend of sweet and savoury, quite light, great way to finish off the meal. Service was excellent- very impressed by the waiter who got all our orders correct without writing them down (large party and each person ordered 3 courses). Great atmosphere, not too loud for conversation. Would return! read more

I been looking for a Thai Restaurant for months in London and I can't believe it was the first time I tried it out last week. Lucky enough I live downtown and it was a ten min walk down the street. There is also street parking available as well . I went for dinner and ordered the Chicken Pad Thai Street Style and lets just say I was impress. I ordered the Thai Hot spicy level with no hesitation, pretty sure the waiter thought I was crazy. Coming from someone with a Laotian and Thai background, it was pretty spicy, I mean NEXT LEVEL SPICY! but it was addicting and delicious. I would't try the Suicide spice level because you wouldn't even taste the favours of the food. The pad thai was savoury and extra saucy. Sweet and sour to perfection . It wasn't dry or too "Ketchup" I would say compared to other places. I would come here again. read more

I was really looking forward to trying a couple Thai places in London, ON, and this was actually third on the list [one closed at 5pm, the other (Siam Cafe) was outright closed for business]. From the street, the place looks small inside and it is: 25-30 people max. Right inside the front door is a 5 x 8 waiting room for a tables--they don't want you to enter the eating area if you have to wait for a table: breezy in there when the door opens [cold today]--felt sorta caged, especially with heavy glass doors peering right into dining room. I got seated right away at 5pm as I was only the 3rd person there [when I left, there were 10]. Decor is OK and not overwhelming, but a little too dark for my taste [both in colors used exclusively and in lighting] but maybe a good date place if you're trying for the hip/sophisticated approach. I had to venture a bit for an appetizer without my Crab Rangoon, so instead I opted for the Tom Yum Soup (gai--chicken, no mushrooms; $5CDN). It was little bigger than a cup and while of decent taste, the lemongrass was a bit overpowering--couldn't really taste the onions or the onions by themselves either. Next I did manage to get a Pad Kee Mao equivalent: Drunkard Noodle ($14CDN, beef hold the sprouts). I was a little dissappointed with this too: it was smallish and even smaller looking on a big plate; they used the thin egg noodles instead of the wide rice noodles; there MAY have been 1.5-2.0oz of meat if I was lucky; celery [!?!?!?] and peppers were each still crunchy; and it wasn't very spicy. When I asked for prik pet (hot peppers) all that was available was chili sauce, which made the noodles swim when I put enough on to get medium heat. I also ordered two Diet Cokes ($2CDN each). Menu is probably more Thai fusion given some unique things (Mongolian Maki, Bangkok Red Light District, and 'canned' dinner specials [price fixe] which look like you can save a couple bux --good for Thai starters probably)--this is not a full Thai menu. Presentation and service in general was good, but I'm not hip to plastic chopsticks. I also appreciate the server understanding my Thai--an unusual event, but nice: maybe I'm making sense. There is a full bar though it probably takes up 20% of available floor space--should have moved to the back and put more tables or just keep a constant decor. Prices for takeout run $1-3 less for identical items, and sodas are half the price :( The difference on meal alone would have been $5.92 ($20.07 to go v. $25.99 eat-in, pre-tip)--imagine a family or date meal difference: encouraging me to NOT eat in further encourgages me not to eat there at all. While food in Canada generally runs a bit higher than US equivalent (in my humble travels), price was still a bit high for quality and size [i.e., value was lower than expected]. There was one pickup while I was there: smart move chica. I won't be going back and while I know Thaifoon is a chain, I'll probably think twice about trying another location. read more

Worst delivery service ever! This is not the first time but will be the last! Ordered at 6:23, said would be 60 min. At 7:20 we get a phone call from you saying driver is running about 10min behind....at 7:50...a half hour after the phone call...food arrives. It's stone cold! Delicious food and great atmosphere - a wonderful place to go if you're dining downtown London. Decor and ambience are fabulous, very zen and intimate. There are only about 12 tables, a handful of which only sit two people (be sure to make a reservation). It's not too crowded though, things are nicely spaced out. Before entering the restaurant, there's a separate waiting area where you're able to order a drink and wait for your table - there's also a charming 'Sawadee' (welcome) sign. The staff was also absolutely lovely, we had the most accommodating waitress that was sweet and attentive. Now onto the food... Lots of fun cocktails, 2oz martinis and authentic beer like Tsingtao & Sapporo. The food menu is also fairly diverse, offering classic thai as well as some unique dishes. We tried the Mongolian maki - sushi maki with chicken, jasmine rice and an especially tasty spiced peanut sauce (highly recommend). The chicken pad thai was fantastic, as was the peanut pasta very peanut-y if you like that sort of thing). The picky, but learning-to-be-adventurous eater in me was very satisfied, it was a great dining experience in Londontown. ...I got a glimpse of a spring roll at the table beside us... that'll be next time I visit! read more

An doctor, an insurance agent, a pharma rep and a radio host walk into a restaurant.... I was part of the yelp group that rolled in last week for Londonlicious. I always approach businesses with a clean slate and Thiafoon was no different. I live in the south end and rarely get a chance to get downtown so I was rather excited. The waiter was interesting. He did not seem keen on writing down any of our orders. Instead, he used it as a luminosity exercise to test his memory skills. That said, he did well although it was slow. There was a great menu selection offering 7 or 8 apps and entrees and 4 or 5 desserts. I went with Shrimp Tom Yum (an extra dollar), drunken chicken noodles and mango rice pudding. The Tom yum was average although the shrimp were cooked nicely. The chicken drunken noodles had a good balance of heat and sweet. The basil shone among the other flavors as it should. Quite delicious. The dessert was typical of most Asian restaurants...predictably disappointing. I'm used to Summerlicious in Toronto where the dinner offerings are significantly reduced in price. In some cases, 80 or 90 dollar dinners are offered for $45. I thought Thaifoon offered minimal value through their Londonlicious menu. A small bowl of Tom Yum, a plate of drunken noodles and a martini glass of mango rice should normally run $25 anyway so I can't comprehend the savings. In the end, the entree and the service was good. The appetizer and dessert were very average. Take out drunken noodles sound like a good call right now.... I have ordered from this place quite often and the quality of the food is good, however, pray that you don't have any type of customer service issue. They need some training on how to be respectful to their customers. I called with an issue with my order and the "manager" who was clearly a young person, decided to speak to me by saying" " like come on dude..." so unprofessional and inappropriate when speaking with a customer. I'm not your hipster buddy, I'm a customer. While having great food is important, the value of any company is how they handle something when things don't go as expected. Absolutely love this place. My friends and I go every time I am in town, it never fails to disappoint. Everyone who has come here with me agrees it has the best spring rolls in the city. Last time i was here, I got the mango salad to start, and the crispy noodles with tofu, absolutely delicious. I appreciate how accommodating they are in making pretty much anything on the menu vegetarian. My friends got the chicken pad thai and the green curry with chicken. Everyone liked what they got. I tried one of their specialty cocktails and was not super impressed, it was good, but failed to wow, I can't remember the name unfortunately :-( The atmosphere is good, usually quiet though, so nice for an intimate gathering, maybe not for just hanging out. read more

Exploring the Dundas Street area on the weekend and decided to order some takeout to bring back to a friends house based on their recommendation of the place. We ordered Green Curry Chicken ($14), Vegetarian Street Style Pad Thai ($13), Chicken Pad Thai ($13 - which we thought on the phone when placing the order was going to be street style as well but wasn't on the great reveal of the dish at home), and Panang Thalay ($18) which is a very seafood heavy dish that I admittedly did not try. It was all quite good, and definitely some of the best thai food I've had in the city. The green curry especially got good reviews from the group. One thing that was a bit disappointing was the portion size. The plastic takeout containers were only just over half full, and our local friends said it was the smallest portions they've ever seen... So maybe it was a one off experience, but I feel its worth mentioning. But at the end of the day, the food is solid, and when picking up the food I got a chance to check out the room which seemed nice for the dine in experience too.
