The Bacalao, rice, beans, avocado, and sweet plantains were some of the best I've had in Boston. I came in early in the morning got a piping hot flavorful plate that is making me want to fall asleep. The service was great too, the lady was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed despite a bit of a language barrier. On top of that the place was spotless very clean you can see your reflection on the floor. definitely coming back for some more. Wish I had pictures but I tore that plate up fast. read more

They were nice even if driver wasn't polite enough to left msg that food had arrived neither the app . But this is about the food and that was good even if turnovers looked kind of pale, had kind of a sauce situation that wasn't exactly nice since I like the filling to be not dried but not extra juicy neither. Liked that Dough was crunchy and tasty. Filling had a nice flavor also. It's why I rate it 4 in gral was good just for me an extra minute will have let it on perfect color in the outside and maybe less juicy in the inside. These 3 stars are no way to scare you away from this restaurant. I really enjoy coming here, the food is great and the service is super friendly. But, there's always room for improvement I say. Bani is a small establishment, about 8-10 tables plus counter take out service. The food here is authentic dominican/latin food. They have a full menu made to order but they also have pastellios/beef empanadas, papa rellenos (fried potatoes filled with beef) and other prepared food ready for take out. My favorite here is the white rice, beans, bistec encebollado (steak and grilled onions). Ask for a side of maduros (sweet fried plantains). This all comes with a house salad with beets in vinegar and oil dressing. All this food is for about under $15 and will feed two people. I usually take a doggy bag and that's a full lunch for the next day. I recommend ordering the pina colada to wash it all down. So good! One gripe about this place is the service. The times I've gone there's only been one person taking orders, serving, and handling the take out counter. It can get a little busy during dinner hours and the weekends. You might have to wait a bit if you need something. I won't say it's the best latin food in Boston but it's consistent and the food is good. I feel like the price is a bit high. I can go to another bigger latin restaurant and get the same food for about $1 or $2 less and a better presentation but like I said, the people are just so nice and you taste the love they put into their food. they sell little ass plates for $8 than try to fill it up with mad rice and 2 pieces of meat , I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL TO ANYONE , they barely even get business , I lived near this place 30 plus years and the prices just keep getting higher read more

The pastelitos are definitely one of the best I tasted. Not salty nor greasy, (there are some that are very salty and the grease is leaking out). I also bought the chicken and pernil mofongo. Wow! They are the best. Again not salty and lots of meat. Was hesitant to try this place out, but im very glad I did. Don't think twice just go! Lol read more

Definitely recommend the fried yucca , very tasty!!! Food cooked to order , but there are also window items!!! The woman who served me in the day was fabulous and I'll admit I w not back later for more her daughter served us both times received excellent customer service. Ok , so its in on a hill that FACES BOston on Washington ST in Roslindale , and plenty of parking for stopover and great warm Dominican/ Puerto Rican/ Carribbean Flair, I tried the CHicken Fried Pieces and /fried Pork dishes, they were served FRESH and country with special touch of Lime on the side, so you can moisten the meat , DELICIOUS and what a great way to serve , my wife from HOng Kong was impressed as she never had it carribbean style... we went on to try to Oxtail soup and Patica soup , again , very traditional flair with all the Recaito and Cilantro like herbs that make your mouth water, ok so I am hungry , looking to try their King fish in curry sauce and go back for more of those Fried should pork thngs , my wife ate them all! HORRIBLE. Basically if you are craving food that has been sitting around and refried which makes it the consistency of leather, this is the place for you. Fried pork strips- thin, over fried & dry. The kingfish, which is usually juicy and flavorful was fried so long that I could actually physically knock on it, the fish was so dry that it was like chewing on cotton balls, those sad little limes thrown in couldn't rehydrate the fish even if 20 limes had been thrown in. When we called to let them know, we were told "then tell me not to fry it so long." Really? I should have never strayed from the always on point Latino Restaurant in JP. Never will again. I am surprised nobody has reviewed this place being that it is right on the main street in Rozzie. It is a small Dominican restaurant. The type of place that is kinda counter service, kinda table service. There is 1 person waiting on the counter etc but she will bring your food and drinks over to a table. Unfortunately the second there was more than 1 table it got crazy. I had Goat Stew which was delicious, the flavor very reminiscent of Jamaican food actually. My fiance had the fried pork chops which were way overcooked and unbelievably salty. They have a decent menu but I found it a bit pricey for the quality of the restaurant. From what I understood a lot of the items on the menu are only available on specific days, that is not indicated anywhere until you order and they just say, "nope don't have it." All in all it is fine for a quick takeout place that we can walk to but not somewhere I would go out of my way to dine. read more
