Both items were really greasy. I still attempted to eat it and ended up nauseous from all the oil. Before I placed my order I specifically asked about the rice and was assured it would be filled (this was the second time I this happened to me on a take out order). I really like the decor here. It's very colorful, spacious and inviting. I also think the servers are very down to earth and can converse with you. On the day I went, I ordered jerk wings and a cup of chili. The chili was very tasty and came with a side of pita. I would definitely recommend it, but I didn't love the jerk wings. They had a sour taste; I'm not sure what ingredient caused the wings to taste like that, but I never tasted jerk wings like that before. What was a bit annoying was the fire alarm went off while I was there, and it was painfully loud. We all had to evacuate the restaurant when the fire service came, and I heard a server say it was the second time the fire alarm went off that day. I understand they are a new restaurant, but they might need to work that out because I can imagine that will be an annoyance to some who are in the middle of a meal and have to rush out the restaurant or try and converse over an excruciatingly loud alarm. Thankfully, my friend and I had finished eating by the time the alarm went off and just needed to grab our check, but I've never experienced this before and I eat out a bit, so yeah, I would definitely return and give them another chance but I hope they straighten out their smoke detector system! read more

I can honestly say I will definitely return to Orchid7... every single meal I had was delicious, we ordered the Bruschetta Mozzarella ($11.95), Jumbo wings in garlic ($15.95) as appetizers. For our entrees we had the Plantain Tacos ($18.95), and Rasta Pasta with Salmon ($32.95). And as for drinks we ordered the Passion Fruit Lychee ($15.50), Moscow Mule ($13), Coconut Lychee ($15.50) and Piña Colada ($14). I came here to dine with friends on a weekday evening and was super excited because I heard nothing, but great reviews. The restaurant is located in the heart of Dedham Square about 30 minutes south of downtown Boston and is very close to the lines of Hyde Park. Upon walking in the space is well lit with a host stand at the door, several smaller party tables along the perimeter of the venue and even has a fireplace surrounded by love seats, a couch, tv, and a neighboring wine rack. My party was for six people so we were nestled towards the back of the dining room past the bar. . Anna, our server was attentive and continued to check in periodically although we had not even looked at the menu after nearly 30 minutes into our reservation. To wine down (see what I did there??) we had Black Girl Magic Rose and added a seafood appetizer of seared sea scallops to compliment the drink. The sauce was a decadent yellow and the dish itself was succulent. Next we orderd the Orchid 7 wings jerk style and the flavor did not disappoint. Spicy is what you expect, but you could taste other smoky flavors beyond that. Our last appetizer were the french fries which were steak cut, seasoned and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. While dining, the chef Paul stopped by our table to ask us how everything was going which showed me how intentional they are with their standard of service. . We placed our order for entrees and I got the coconut curry chickpeas with a a side of plantains. Do not be fooled by the small size of the bowl its presented in! It was A LOT OF FOOD! I was so filled from the apps, I took the rest home and ate out of it four times with my sister! My friends ordered the Grilled Salmon with black rice, the Rasta Pasta and lastly the Orchid 7 Burger which also had huge portions. I wish we had space for dessert - I almost never do :-( as they have a fridge filled with several delectable cakes and cheesecakes. The server came by infrequently and the hostess was preoccupied with her phone. This was a couple of months ago. I had good company that's the only reason i stayed. No thanks! We made a 9:30 am brunch reservation at Orchid 7 to celebrate a birthday. We arrived at 9:25 am, only to find the restaurant closed while we stood outside in the cold. Eventually someone came to the door and told us the restaurant opens at 10:00 am and that the chef wasn't even there yet. He let us in. Two employees were present and neither could explain why a reservation had been accepted. To make matters worse no one called us to inform us of this issue. I later called Orchid 7 and spoke with someone named Maria, who spoke in a very nonchalant manner as if this were normal. Her response was essentially, " I apologize, and next time you come in, please remind me." So Im supposed to remind her that I made a reservation, showed up, and waited in the cold to find out the restaurant was closed? No, Maria there will be no next time. There is absolutely nothing appealing about returning. Boston has plenty of restaurants with better ratings, better service, and most likely better food. I do not need to come to Or hid 7. To add to the confusion the website says Sunday hours are 8 am to 8 pm, the doors says 10:00 am and OpenTable accept reservations starting at 9:30 am. Management seriously needs to do their jobs and post accurate hours so this doesn't happen to another customer. The food was delicious and well made, but the server was extremely slow. She had about 3 tables and it took 15 minutes to get a menu and 20- 30 minutes to check in on us. When she finally got us (30 minutes later), the kitchen was closed. No apology or anything. Not very respectful. We got delivery via ChowNow, and each of the 3 items were fresh, flavorful, and balanced. You could put the sauce from the shrimp entree on a shoe and it'd be delicious, and I was glad the dish came with rice to sop every last drop up. The chicken and black rice were perfectly seasoned, and the tostone "sliders" with pork (more like a tostone tostada) were unique and excellent. The portions were just right- I cleaned my plate and felt just-quite-full. Not particularly cheap though, although you're paying for quality. I'm not sure if it's an every Friday night thing but having a live band made the evening special. The service from the waitstaff was very good and they were attentive. I was happy when I heard Orchid 7 was open for business, and I was happy when I was stuffing my face with baby back ribs :) Orchid 7 is very much needed in Dedham, offering a nice dine in Carribean experience. I love the set up of the restaurant--they have a few couches/lounge area once you enter on the left hand side, a modest bar that can seat about 10 people, pllenty of dine in seats, and a few TV's with sports. I've been twice and they're often playing afrobeats, rnb and Carribean music in the background. Staff here is friendly and they make sure to be warm and welcoming to the community. They also have a private room in the back that can hold 30 people for events, etc... The first time I came, I ordered chicken wings, the second time baby back ribs with fries. The ribs were sticky and tasty as expected, and portions were fairly sized. Fries were thick, well seasoned and crispy. The food here DOES NOT MISS, it is a bit pricey, but worth it. If you're looking for authentic Carribean food, I highly recommend. Also, they host all types of events here too like Karoake, Live music nights, brunch, etc... Am obsessed with their plantain tacos! It has cabbage slaw in it and you can choose to have either chicken or slow cooked roast pork. We went with the roast pork and it did not disappoint. You can also add avocado for an extra $4 or shrimp for extra $5. It is on the pricier end ($18.95) for tacos but these are specialty tacos that I would be willing to dish out money for on an occasional basis. The ambiance was nice and quiet, and the service wasn't exactly fast but wasn't slow either. There was just one guy working for lunch when we went, so totally understandable! Right in Dedham Center with the free parking lot across the street(also plenty of street parking if you're lucky enough to catch a spot right in front of the business. Went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ. They have tables along the walls and lounging areas near the DJ booth and in the back of the establishment. Very welcoming. Greeter was on their job.
