STEWED CHICKEN/POLLO GUISADO

The food and vibe was cool for a sunny Saturday afternoon the food was delicious we will be back.

Carne guisada
Logan S.

I visited Boston to see my friends in Jamaica Plain. They had never been to this restaurant so we tried it together. We were all astounded by the flavors! I managed to fit in two trips to the restaurant during my stay in Boston! The ambiance was amazing with great music and a community/family feel between some local patrons and the restaurant staff. The first time we went we shared an order of the carne guisada and the mofongo de pollo. That was my first time having mofongo and it was enjoyable but the carne guisada was something sent from heaven. During our second visit, we liked it so much that we had separate orders of the carne guisada, it's just that good! The passion fruit juice was also fire, the flavor was so pungent and delicious. The staff were amazing and kind, I wish I had known how to speak Spanish.

Mofungo with chicken
Lucinda A.

I ordered the mofungo with chicken. It was alright, I was hoping that there was some sauce to put on it besides garlic sauce. I enjoyed my mango smoothie it was great with milk. The food portion is great and doesn't break your pockets. I highly recommend it. Customer service: 4 Food: 4

Mondongo (Beef Tripe stew).

Solid Dominican food restaurant with a wide variety to choose from. They serve beer as well and desserts and awesome fruit milk shakes made the Dominican way with evaporated milk and ice. I say try them very tasty and fresh food and no Dominican food is not spicy per se but you will be provided a bottle Tabasco if wanted.

Empanadas

Miami restaurant has been on my radar for a while now, and I was really so impressed! I ordered takeout on a day that l was low on groceries, and I will definitely be adding it to my takeout rotation! My standards for Cuban food are high as someone raised in Miami but I have less background on everyday Dominican food. I ordered 2 empanadas (one chicken one beef), pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken) with rice and beans, and a Cuban sandwich. The empanadas were delicious, the most on par with my comfort food that I've found in Boston. The chicken was great, cooked with peppers and onions and served with so much rice it honestly justified the whole order. The beans were Dominican style red beans, which varies from my staple of black beans but were very good. Lastly, the Cuban sandwich was not bad, although had some extra ingredients (lettuce, tomato, mayo) that I feel should not be on a Cuban sandwich, and the ham was quite thick for my liking. This is an item I would probably not order again based on my preferences. Overall, I will definitely order from Miami restaurant again and look forward to trying more items on the menu!

Wow. I haven't had much Dominican food in the past to compare this to, but this was GREAT. The…read moreportion sizes are huge and the prices are so affordable - I will absolutely be coming back here again and again. This time, I ended up getting the Chicharrón with spaghetti instead of rice and beans because I had heard that Dominican spaghetti was something I had to try, and I didn't regret it at all. For the price of $14, this was probably 1.5-2 portions of food. I will be having this for dinner later on today! Chicharrón ($14) - These were deep fried pork belly chunks and they were pretty much cooked perfectly. They were seasoned well and just so crispy and juicy. When you deep fry pork belly in chunks, it's really easy to overcook them and dry them out, but this was just wonderfully lightly crispy on the outside and still so juicy and moist on the inside. Biting into each chunk was like a wonderful burst of flavor - really amazing job on these. Spaghetti (side) - Ah yes the Dominican spaghetti. If you want Italian pasta, this is not it, but it had a certain home-cooked charm and was a type of spaghetti I had not tasted before. It was creamy, tomato-ey, and buttery. The closest I can compare is that it had the texture of chef boyardee pasta, but the taste was much more smokey with hints of sweetness and umami. It was really filling and delicious! All in all - a great deal. $14 for that much food and meat is amazing, and everything tasted really fresh and well-cooked. I will absolutely be returning!

Another day, another Spanish restaurant!…read more It's a true blessing to live around wonderful Dominican/Puerto Rican restaurants. My son loves arroz con pollo. He can eat it everyday. When I walked in, it was a little cozy restaurant with 6-7 seatings. It was lunch time so there were a few tables occupied. I was there to get lunch to go. I wish I took more pictures of the hot bar. The two lovely ladies there were nice and helpful. I wish I knew they had a lunch menu because the gentleman that came in after me, he asked for the lunch portion. Next time! I got stewed chicken and white rice/beans for $19. It's the dinner portion. Not sure if I could have gotten sides like sweet plantains or yucca. A little language barrier. For $19, I'm assuming it should come with it but didn't. That's ok! Next time ima make sure to ask. One of the ladies that came out after knew English but it was too late because I already paid for my order. My whole order came out to be $30. This included the stewed chicken, side order of spaghetti, and side order of tuna mac salad. Everything was delicious. The stewed chicken was good but compared to my other places, this is probably 4th on the list. A little too salty. The spaghetti was really good. If you never had Dominican spaghetti before, I highly you to go try! Tuna salad at this spot was really good. So far the best I've had. Will definitely come back here to try other things! Especially the lunch menu. Downfall was, I didn't see a menu. Looked around for 5 minutes but couldn't find it lol

It was one gentleman in front of me speaking in their language ( I believe Dominican) ok cool. He's ordering his food and they are piling his plate up with most of the food that's left. After he gets his food it was still a little food left. Next thing you know one of the young ladies that work there comes up and make herself a plate with the rest of the food and had me standing there. I said is that it for food now and she said yes. I said then why would you have me standing here thinking I'm able to get some food. As I started walking away a guy calls me back and said they have French fries. I said and chicken also? He says NO I just said that was so rude of her to do that to a customer and mind you I go there often but never again!!!! That was totally rude & disrespectful towards a customer. Guess I had to speak their language in order to get a plate
