My fiancé and I ate there last night. We had the boomer loaded baked potato with pork. Very yummy. Great helping size of food. Cole slaw was tasty. Our server was so sweet, Matt I think his name was. The banana pudding was worth the visit. We live in Ohio and we don't get homemade banana pudding up north. Overall great dinner. The owner stopped to chat with us for a while. Nice people. Banjo's is where I go when I have a craving for pulled pork. The pulled pork sandwich has a generous portion of delicious smoked pulled pork, and it is served with your choice of their signature BBQ sauces (I highly recommend the apple butter sauce). The smoked baked beans are also wonderful. I tried the ribs once, and they were tough and not very good (maybe it was because I went right before they closed), so I stick with the pulled pork. I always get carry-out. There's not much seating in the restaurant -- just a few picnic-style tables. There's also not much parking, and it can be tricky to get in and out of the lot if it's crowded. read more

Great food! Smells great pulling up. Small parking lot and small dining area but big on flavor and hospitality. We had ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, sweet potato (loaded) and habanero pineapple cornbread. All tasted great! This restaurant used to be my favorite BBQ place( still is), but now I've been introduced to their pizza, and their pork chops!!! Oh my gosh I love everything, and their menu just keeps growing. If you haven't tried this amazing restaurant then you are missing out! David walks around to all the tables and talks to everyone and makes everyone feel so welcome and at home. Was excited to try this place based on reviews but was pretty much underwhelmed. Ribs were tasty but way undercooked-very hard to get meat off the bone. Menu listed 4 or 5 sauces but you had to pick which one you wanted without being able to try them. Watress said we couldn't try samples??? Food served on styrofoam togo boxes enen if you eat in. Fabulous! Hubby and I ate a late lunch so the place was quiet. Cameron met us with a smile and was extremely helpful with information as well as samples of the sauces and even some fresh hot wings to try (literally the best wings we have ever had and we have traveled the world). We had the pulled pork sandwich with two sides. I had macaroni and cheese and slaw and he had beans and slaw. Everything was very good but the slaw especially was a nice texture/flavor that left me impressed. Seating indoors and picnic tables outside. Even mentioned live Bluegrass music tonight. Excellent food but a very unfriendly owner. Drove a long way three different times to eat and the owner has never even spoken to us. Service is poor also. Has the best brisket I have ever ate. I ordered a pound to go after we ate. Owner came out in the dining area giving out free ribs to the other two occupied tables while ignoring our table. Best barbeque in east Tennessee. I grew up going to Memphis a lot and got very familiar with what I thought was the best ribs in the world, dry rub. The best now live at Banjo's in Spring City. The pulled pork is very good as well as the chicken. The brisket is the best I have had not in Texas. But the ribs are a cultural and culinary experience. read more

This is so disappointing! We have eaten here three other times and food was excellent but tonight was very different. I ordered a rib plate, a small pork sandwich and a sweet potato. It was $25.41. Normally I would not mind paying that much because it has been very good but when I got home with it the sandwich was on a slider bun. It was not at all the same size as we have gotten in the past. The ribs were a disaster. They were not smoked long enough and all you could taste was the salty rub. They were barely brown on the outside and the inside was not good. The sweet potato was overcooked and tasteless. I had gotten them before and they smoked them and they had great flavor. So, all in all, a very bad experience. read more

Absolutely the best BBQ I have ever had!!! The Boomer (baked potato smothered in cheese, and topped with mounds of pulled pork) is unbelievably huge and I always have left-overs for a meal the next day. Excellent Food, Excellent Service! We had 35 scouts and scoutmasters attending Buck Toms Summer camp who we needed to feed on a Wednesday night in Spring City. Two of our scoutmasters met with David earlier that day. David worked with us to accommodate our group and he and his wife even stayed past their normal closing hours to help with our time schedule. The BBQ pork & chicken was some of the best I have tasted and the portions were ample. I would recommend Banjo's to anyone looking for great BBQ. We heard about Banjos Barbecue at work, and are really glad that we stopped for dinner. We had a Boomer (a huge smoked, baked potato), pulled pork, brisket and chicken, plus sides of ribs. Banjo's-recipe sauces were subtle and flavorful. Everything was tasty and moist, cooked perfectly! The owner thinks the mustard-based Carolina-style sauce is super hot, but our spicy-food devotee thought it was deliciously spicy. Don't pass up Banjo's if you're anywhere near Spring City. Substandard and expensive bbq food. I ordered the rib plate which consisted of 6 ribs which had an combined ounce of meat. The sides were coleslaw and baked beans. The coleslaw was disgusting and the baked beans were cold, as where the "ribs." This first impression of this bbq restaurant will make me never go back! read more

My husband and I found this place when they were in Spring City. We started our meal with a free sauce tasting. These are not the usual sauces, my husband loves hot but he too was impressed by the variety of flavors available. My parents got the special for the day, chicken or pork sandwich with pinto beans and a second side. Sides are excellent here; creamy white Mac and cheese, fresh slaw, baked beans and my favorite: smoked cabbage! The wings are so tender they melt in your mouth. Your drink will be constantly refilled, the desserts are homemade. The owner visited our table and had us taste his ribs... wow I have never gotten a rib with so much meat on it, smoked so tender that, it did not need a sauce. Yum! Prices are reasonable, the service is superior and the food is unforgettable. Banjo's will see me again and again because I like them so much I drive and hour to eat there and I Always send my friends there also. read more

I'm currently living in Texas and had my fair share of BBQ. So I'm kind of a snob when it comes to this stuff. However, I was very happy with this spot. My in-laws always eat here and they said his ribs were legit, so we got two racks, and they definitely were. It had a great smoke ring and great smoked flavor, along with a nice crust of seasoning and not completely fall off the bone to the point where its ridiculous mushy (I like to work just a little bit for the ribs, and these ribs offered me that). The sauces were also very good with a variety of mild and hot flavors and kind of carolina mustard sauce that was flavorful too. The pulled pork was a little dry but add a little sauce and it was great. They even threw in some complimentary wings, which fell off the bone and had more of that smoked flavor. For like $80 we had a meal that fed 8 people and had leftovers for days. I can't wait to visit my in-laws again and hit up this BBQ joint. read more

This place is outstanding! For all the "big city" BBQ places you can find in TN, this is the best we've had in the 4 yrs we've had a home here. A true dining out gem in Spring City. My husband and I both had the pulled pork. With 6 homemade sauces to choose from you're bound to find at least one that's a favorite; we found three. My husband had green beans and smoked baked beans with his. Both delicious! I had the sweet potato and mixed greens...equally delicious, though the greens were out of this world. Turnips and collards, and reminded me of my dad's greens back home in Texas. I don't know why it took us so long to find this place, but now that we have it will become a regular in our dining out rotation. And P.S., his sauces and dry rub are available for purchase too!
