What an absolutely horrible bank to do business with. My…read morewife and I moved to this area in 2016, however we've been spending our vacation in Union County since 1995 and have owned property here for at least 24 years. We have found most businesses to be friendly, fair, and reasonable. When a business probes to be otherwise or when they are outright nasty we either walk away and/or stop patronizing the establishment. But this SouthState bank located @ 458 Hwy 515 E in Blairsville GA is so terrible that I needed to write this review. We usually go to this bank to use its ATM since our bank is not in Blairsville and other banks in town have a lower limit of ATM transactions. They charge us a $3.50 fee for the transaction because we don't have an account with them. I understand that, so we are quite happy to pay it. Today however, we went there, used their ATM for a $200.00 withdrawal and then, since we needed two rolls of quarters, we went inside. The place was totally empty and only one teller was at her window. My wife and I even commented on the fact that there was no one in front of us outside at the ATM lane and no one inside. We thought it was cool, no waiting. In retrospect that should've been our first sign, no customers, which usually means bad business. When the teller called us, we approached her and asked for two rolls of quarters. She looked straight at me with a look I have come to recognize, as a latino I've seen it all my life. I immediately knew she was not going to help us. I asked for the two rolls of quarters, we had the $20.00 bills we just withdrew from their ATM so that was covered. The teller asked if we had an account at this bank and when we said no she said; "I'm sorry you need to have and account here for any money transactions." I mentioned the fact that I just paid $3.50 to withdraw money from their ATM, but she couldn't accept one of those $20.00 bills which we got from their ATM and exchange it for two rolls of quarters? Really My wife and I walked away and went to the United Community Bank located at 177 GA-515, Blairsville, GA 30512. It was like night and day. The parking lot was packed and inside there were about 5 tellers taking care of their customers. We had to wait in line but not very long. When a teller called us we asked for the same two rolls of quarters and handed her a $20.00 bill. She smiled and in a friendly voice immediately said; "Oh sure no problem." Took the $20 dollar bill, walked away and came back with the two rolls of quarters. I looked at my wife and said; "Now we know which is going to our next bank." Truth be told, we've been looking for a bank and asking our friends about the local banks since our accounts are at banks in NY and it makes it inconvenient for us to care for our banking needs locally. This will definitely be our next bank: United Community Bank located at 177 GA-515, Blairsville, GA 30512. They will get 5 stars. Kudos to the people at United Community Bank. To the management and executives at SouthState bank located @ 458 Hwy 515 E in Blairsville GA I can only say: "Shame on you." That's no way to treat people. You probably looked at me and thought I had some nefarious intentions. What wad it? Did you think I was trying to launder money? In case you are interested laundering was involved, but not of money. We have elderly friends that live in Branan Lodge which is a home for the aged, and we help them by shopping for their groceries or taking them to doctor's appointments and other errands. Sometimes they need quarters in order to wash their clothes. That's what we needed the quarters. They are for the washers and dryers in the laundry room. Call Branan Lodge and ask them if this is the case v It looks like you don't have a lot of customers in Blairsville, if during the busy periods of other banks your bank and your ATM lanes are empty. Here's hoping you move away and make room for a more friendly bank. In the meantime you won't have to worry about us visiting your location. The latino community is growing in this area, some of us are retired, others own businesses, work for the town or county governments and at many other businesses. We need banks to handle our money (which we do have) but we don't need you. If you want our business you need to get with it and start treating people more friendly.

I've been slowly moving our accounts over to 2 other banks in town for about a year ..there have…read morebeen a lot of changes there...it started for me with their conversion of the online banking product they moved from a great 3rd party vendor to in house for bill pay. They take money out sometimes a day or more from your acct before it's sent on electronic payments. Then they dropped the ball on a refi on a heloc loan I had with them and never got back to me nor returned all my paperwork I requested... last straw was zelle...some of my clients pay me with zelle. They go into my ozk or South State accts..both those banks immediately show the deposit...my payee said she had sent it and I saw no evidence of it...so she checked and it was done correctly..she uses ucbi...so I researched it and it says indeed some banks take longer than others. Then she got an email hours later from ucbi saying it was done and probably won't land until maybe Tuesday...sent on a Saturday. Again holding onto money.

Ucbi recently updated their app and now have no access to my account since my phone is not…read morecompatible with new software. They want me to replace phone but I will not spend that kind of money. They gave no notice before hand that this was coming. Poor customer service. Chase did the same thing several years back and I fired them for it. UCBI if you read this you are put on notice.
