The cafe owner (who only shares the space) proceeded to berate us, curse us out, and had the audacity to tell us that we were being rude. When I politely offered for us to put our drinks away, he said that it didn't matter because we were already being disrespectful (after cursing us out). He then proceeded to horribly yell at the very kind waitress who had taken our order. Come to find out, he only profits if we order his watered down coffee (I would know, I had to force myself to finish his overpriced latte the first time I came here). I've been coming to Puerto Escondido all of my life to visit family and have never had an experience like this in my life. We pride ourselves on being kind and hospitable, so it's unfortunate but unsurprising that a white gentrifier who has come to profit off of Puerto's natural beauty would stray from this norm. It deeply saddens me to see such a beautiful place plagued by disrespectful, entitled leeches like this man. Although I hope he reevaluates the way he treats others, I know his inflated sense of ego won't let him. The best I can do is to warn potential patrons of his shitty coffee and bad attitude. Please support local-owned businesses instead of this bitter white old man.

The owner was so incredible rude and disrespectful, in addition to the coffee we had the prior day being truly disgusting. The owner threw out curse words and disrespectful remarks (asked us what world we were from) just because we brought a coffee from another place. Craziest part is, we were sitting at the neighboring papi bowls, not even cafe choc, so for the owner to disrespect us at a different restaurant just for sitting near his was beyond unbelievable. I would never recommend this to anybody

Very good otherwise, but I wanted heat! Also tried the arrachera which was again, good, but not great for Mexico. I get it. It's a hotel restaurant which probably caters to American and Canadian tastes, but I guess there should be an option for those that like spicy food :) So many tourist spots have a killer super spicy salsa to make up for this, but sadly we didn't find it here. Getting there was also a little challenge. We had no problem with our cab driver that we made friends with, but it might be a challenge or actually a reason to charge more for the carefree tourist. There is actually quite a bit of unpaved bumpy dirt road to get there A good reminder to ask about the fare before you take the ride. I was shocked how little our guy charged us but he did say he would charge more if we were a normal tourist fare. Worth the trip for the views and service for sure. Looks like a great surf spot in the cove below too!

I love crepes and visited with a group of friends after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. We were starving and in need of some relaxation. They serve primarily breakfast and lunch items, with several coffee options and a full bar. The restaurant features and indoor/outdoor space where several cats appeared to be very comfortable, napping on the furniture. There were several local dogs coming and going. I liked the modern decor, in earth tones with several plants and chill music. They had sort of an artsy vibe going on. Service was decent. Despite the language barrier, they could have been a bit friendlier, as they pretty much just took our order and walked away without any friendly hellos. Service did get slow towards the end as it became challenging to track down our check, though that seems to be pretty typical of the town in general. I ordered an iced coffee with milk, which was delicious with a deep, dark espresso. My friend ordered a latte, and commented that it was a bit too strong for her, however I think I would have enjoyed it. I also ordered the Chula crepe which contained ham, mushrooms, tomatoes and oregano. My husband was very happy to order the Tocino, which contained bacon and cheese, some of his favorite ingredients. The crepes were a perfect consistency and very filling. My husband ordered a mixed fruit juice, which was really the consistency of a fruit smoothie. It was tasty and refreshing. All in all, it is a great place for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon coffee or cocktail. You can hang around like we did and pet the dogs and cats that stop in for water and shade.

The portions are big, so only one dish per person should be enough food. The service is excellent, the waiters are friendly and accommodating. The venue is not too big, so if you are not a morning person, you might end up waiting too long to be seated. The dinning area has a lot of fans attached to the walls, so it's cool and prevent mosquitoes flying to your table. The only bad thing is that the street outside is a dirty road. Therefore, if it rains the night before, you will have to walk through the mud, and the puddles kind of have a rotten smell.
