There's plenty of tree cover and it's gorgeous in all seasons. It's perfect right now with the Fall colors. Very gentle incline, great for various ages and abilities. Plenty of street parking, and though it may look busy, many people are only here for picnicking and picture taking near the trailhead. Watch out for mountain bikers here if you're hiking!

There are tons of mountain bikers going up and down on these narrow trails. Hikers do have the right of way, but it's courteous to stand on the side to let them slide by. Changing colors are beautiful on this hike! Reminds me that fall is still here, but winter is coming. There were a couple of spots where there was snow, and some places where it was recently melted causing mud. Dogs are allowed on a leash and please pick up after your pups. Once you get to the end of the trail, elephant rock or big rock, there is another path that continues going up! Luckily there are benches to rest your tired feet at the end. I didn't go down to the rock since it was a steep drop, but there are some dare devils that did it.

Short 2.0 mile out and back single track multi use trail with a 341 elevation gain…read more You can continue on up the canyon to the Ensign peak overlook for a 180 degree look of the valley. Or you can continue up the mountain where the trail will split so that you can either hike the BST, or hike over to the City Creek Trail that is closer to Memory Grove Park. I just hiked up to the overlook today and I was able to clock in 7.4 miles. The overlook has great views of Salt Lake City, Great Salt Lake, and the mountains. It gets very hot (as do all trails in this area) and has no shade. Wildflowers galore, and they are in full bloom right now if you like hiking trails with flowers. Be careful of the bees. **Info for mountain bikers: This is a narrow piece of singletrack with very tight switchbacks. Some loose baseball-sized rocks, tight corners, and rocky steps make this a challenging climb ending at the foot of Crag's Trail. Per the Salt Lake City Foothills Trail System Master Plan, this trail is rated as Black Diamond and is only open to all uphill users, with downhill bikes prohibited. (Lots of bikers going downhill today. Not cool) Of course there are always rule breakers as the case today. Trail is narrow so hard to find a place to pull off the trail, luckily it wasn't crowded today. Dogs are allowed on trail if leashed. Please pick up your doggy bags and throw them away. *No restrooms **Limited parking #leavenotrace

Pretty good outfit. We decided to take our kids on a 4-wheeling adventure over the long holiday. We…read morecalled a couple of other rental outfitters and Peak was less expensive. Other places charge five dollars for helmet rental, $50 for early pick up or late drop off and or overnight fee. Peak offers free helmet rentals. They also had a much better return policy allowing us to return the equipment the next morning. We rented a Kawasaki Teryx which seats 5 which I was able to pull with my 4.7 liter Tundra. When we got to the yard the equipment was on the trailer (which is included in the rental) with tie-downs looking ready to go. There was a little bit of a snafu locating the key and making sure the oil level was good. Turns out the previous renter had dropped it off just that morning and the machine had not yet been checked out for damage by the time we were to take it and go. Jeff the mechanic checked it out before we left, so we hooked it up and away we went. I had asked Miles where we might go and he recommended the Skyline Wasatch trail which is pretty close-by. We started at the Bountiful "B" and headed north toward Farmington Canyon. My wife drove the whole day with a smile on her face. The kids had a blast. It was a nice day and as we got higher in elevation the kids started getting cold. Great problem to have on a 90° plus summer day. We got to the Apex where we could see the Weather Station on top of the mountain separating Morgan/Davis counties. That is where the trail starts heading down toward Farmington Canyon trailhead. Lo and behold the trail on the north side of the summit was blocked by snow! July 5th and the snow was still a factor. It was awesome. We had a great time playing in the snow and snapping photos for the album. My only concerns were these: the equipment not having been checked out at check-out and we did not receive any signed paperwork when we turned-in the equipment. That made me wonder if I would have to go through the "getting charged for damage we didn't do" wringer. Also the gas gauge on our OHV seemed to be a bit wonky. That gave us a little bit of anxiety. Peak Adventure staff (Miles and Jeff) were very helpful and accommodating.

Very cool guys. Totally helpful and great equipment too!read more
