I have discovered that Banner Urgent Care is designed for very low level medical intervention. I hesitate to even state "acute care". These facilities are not really equipped for any level of treatment beyond cold/flu, strains/sprains, or anything requiring more than aspirin or ibuprofen. Much like a same day clinic but much more expensive. I went there to discuss fatigue, headache, muscle/joint pain. I was given an injection of Toradol (NSAID) and recommended to follow-up with PCP if symptoms persisted. Ended up in ER two days later from elevated glucose and lactic acidosis. Just be ready for a long wait UNLESS you make an appointment online. read more

No point in scheduling an appt. Every time I schedule one, I'm not seen for an hour after I'm scheduled! Then I have to wait in the back to be seen, so that's another 20-30 mins and then to get discharged it's another 20-30 mins. Staff is nice, but why have a reservation if you still have to wait as if you are a walk-in. My name has been on the waiting list for the entire hour and now that I'm number 1, they have called 3 people that aren't on the list! Update: I was pulled back an hour and 10 mins after my scheduled appt! The screen where the waiting list shows doesn't accurately update, so no need to look at that! The lady in the front was rude and had no empathy for my time, called herself getting an attitude, but had she answered my first initial question correctly (which was, does that waiting list update correctly, because I have been number 1 for 45 mins and everyone is getting called before me! She said he was updating) and said no, that list needs to be fixed as it doesn't provide accurate info, I would have never had to go ask why I wasn't getting called again, for a second time! Another lady came and was professional, asked what was wrong, explained it correctly, and handled the situation correctly! read more

I had an awful experience here from start to finish. I called ahead to ask if the waiting room was packed and didn't get a straight answer. I was told "we are always busy," so I made an appointment for a few hours later to avoid a long wait. When I arrived, there was no one in the waiting room. Check-in was frustrating and exhausting. The receptionist asked if the address they had for me was correct. I told her it wasn't and gave my correct address while handing over my ID. She printed the paperwork and asked me to confirm it, and it still had the wrong address. It felt like she was just going through the motions and not actually listening. The card reader also wasn't working, and I had to get up and sit back down three different times while they tried to run my payment. I came in because I could barely breathe. I was wheezing and short of breath, and repeatedly getting up was draining. The medical care felt dismissive. I told the staff I had already done breathing treatments and they weren't working. Their response was basically to do another breathing treatment and get an X-ray. I asked if that was it, and the doctor told me they weren't going to prescribe me any medication. I have severe asthma and was expecting at least steroids to help. The X-ray experience was the worst part. The technician was physically rough with me, pushing and twisting me, jamming my face into the chin holder and forcing my shoulders around instead of simply giving verbal instructions. I can follow directions. I've never been treated like that during an X-ray in my life. After the breathing treatment, I picked up the wrapper to see what medication they were giving me. The nurse snatched it out of my hand and slammed the door. Then suddenly everyone got very kind when they thought my lung had collapsed and told me to go to the ER. We called at the last minute to request care. The person on the phone said please try to get in by 7:30 since we close at 8:00. We got there at 7:35. They checked us in right away. The young nurse who took vitals was very nice and friendly. The doctor saw us soon after and was also very nice and knowledgeable. She reviewed my wife's health history too which was reassuring. She prescribed meds and we were able to get them filled the same evening. We appreciate your great service and will recommend this urgent care location to others. Thank you. read more

I've never really had an issue with this urgent care until today. Went in for a migraine and got a toroidal shot. Now every time in my past 6 years of receiving this shot I have been allowed to get it in my arm due to I'm not comfortable with my butt. I have severe PTSD. Well today the refused to acknowledge that it can indeed be administered into my arm because it is a muscle and I'm willing to deal with the discomfort. The Nurse came in and said she has 40 years of nursing experience and well guess what treatments and everything evolves daily. Now I didn't feel like going to the ER to get a toroidal shot as they had it ready however I didn't feel breakdown into a full blown PTSD attack and was told to calm down. Now again I expressed that this is the first time I've ever had an issue. She then gave me the shot and I heard her go out into the hallway and complain to her coworkers how "she could've refused the shot" and "she's overreacting, and she could've just not gotten the shot if it was that big a deal". Working in a medical office myself that is highly unacceptable and makes me not trust these medical staff trusted with my care. read more

Twice now in less than 60 days I received sub par medical advice and treatment. Doctors are not equipped to diagnose complaints. Instead I was referred to ER or PCP. One visit resulted in a kidney stone laser removal at the hospital. The UC doctor did not even suggest the possibility of a kidney stone. The 2nd visit with an appt resulted with an hour wait with no real resolution. No suggestion of bursitis or possible rotator cuff tear just a script for inflammation reduction and referral to my PCP. I'm off to ER again less than 24 hrs after my visit last night. I will not return to Banner Urgent Care ever again. Waste of time, copay and Medicare insurance benefits. read more

My wife went to Banner Urgent care yesterday due to having a sinus infection, which she has had multiple times before. She was "seen" by Ronald West. He made it very apparent that neither she nor her complaint were worth his time. He asked what her symptoms were, how long she had them (5 days with worsening pain and pressure each day) said "yeah yeah yeah" wrote some notes then left. No actual physical assessment, no discussion he just walked out then walked back in after a few minutes. He told her that her sinusitis was viral not bacterial and to come back if it was still bothering her in a couple of days. I work as an EMS provider and realize the benefit of actually listening to your patient and physically examining them. Gathering information using your own senses, observations, and their feedback. Ronald apparently does not. My wife went to her primary care physician today who did a thorough assessment, listened to her, and prescribed appropriate medication as well as discussing the benefits of a Neti Pot and navage nasal irrigation. Banner Urgent Care is clean and organized. The employees were kind. You have an option to schedule your appointment online ahead of time on their website and you don't have to create an account or sign in anywhere to do so. If you come in as a walk in and see other go back before you the online appointment factor may be the case. We were in and out fast. I would recommend calling ahead before you go to any facility. For anything beyond basic cough or cold. Reason? Depending on your needs a doctor's offices and many urgent cares may not have the equipment for what you need. I have never had an issue calling a after on call nurse, hospital or urgent care to figure out the best direction to go. Especially when it comes to injuries. A new injury can often be so swollen a break may not even be visible for a couple days without a specialist. We do the best as patients seeking the right care and they do the best with what they have. read more

Absolutely horrible urgent care. Providers are extremely dismissive, specifically Eric. He gave me the vibe that he just walked in off the street and decided to work at an urgent care one day. I went in for a swollen tonsil and uvula, no other symptoms. First, he shamed me for taking antibiotics that weren't prescribed to me (not prescribed to anyone, it was a Z pack) and acted like I was a junkie and asked me loads of questions about it. Even if I was a meth addict or something, it isn't his place to interrogate me like a police officer. Then he told me what I was taking was great and I should keep doing it. Which is it?? After taking a brief (under 10 seconds) look at my tonsils, he said they look great and I need to just let the "infection run its course". He didn't ask me about the progression or any other symptoms. I told him I think it's an abscess because only one tonsil is swollen. He said my tonsils look great (one is red and 3x the size of the other) and that it can't be an abscess and didn't explain why. Update. Went to a real doctor the next day while my throat was practically closing. She told me it is most definitely an abscess and prescribed me steroids and more antibiotics. It's a shame that women can't trust male doctors the same way we can trust female ones. read more

I went into Banner Health Care on Bell Rd. with chest congestion and a cough. I was told symptoms would go away shortly. I was prescribed otc cold and allergy medicine. over the next few days symptoms got worse. Went to another facility (Not Banner) that had DOCTORS on staff, not not just nurse practitioners. Extensive testing was conducted including a chest X-ray which showed I had pneumonia, and I was prescribed a course of antibiotics. I'm feeling better already. I'll never go to Banner again. Even though I had an appointment it took almost 2 hours of waiting for Banner to tell me I just needed otc medications. read more

I had some type of allergic reaction to something and was given medication needed without a lengthy wait at the ER. Back at home resting in no time. I'm a Navy Veteran who visited Banner Urgent Care for a Covid19 test at the urging of the local VA Clinic who doesn't have these tests (don't get me started on this one). The staff was friendly, and did the test quickly for me, after which point I left the facility and continued about my day. About 10 mins after leaving, I get a call from them saying they need me to return because I had not seen a provider while there. I did so, and after finishing up asked what was next. "In 24-48 hours we will call you whether your test is positive or not". I am still waiting for that phone call from them. They were quick enough to call me when they needed me to return for more information, but when it comes time to deliver the result of that test, there's nothing but silence? Sorry, but that ruined the entire experience. Customer followup is part of customer service, and in this time when this virus is out there and everything that you're sick with is Covid, the least someone can do is pick up the phone and make a call to complete the communications loop. This by far 'the' worst UC in the area!...After a 1 1/2 hour wait, I was finally called to the back by an x-ray tech...He proceeded to do the triage...While he was doing the triage, I offered my medical issues, and symptoms...He abdruptly 'interrupted my medical input, and he said, in a sarcastic tone to give that information to the provider...He finished the triage, and directed me to the x-ray room to do a chest x-ray...After which he led me back to the triage room..I waited approximately 7 minutes when an unknown male entered the room...He looked at me and said (and I quote) "NO pneumonia"..."You do not have pneumonia".."I have written an order for a medication for cough"..."Here are you discharge papers"...He then left the room...My daughter looked at me, I looked at her, and we both said WTH?...At no time did I have the opportunity to speak with an NP or a PA...The only person I had spoke with was the x-ray tech..As it happens the med that Mr Long ordered was not covered by my insurance!...This idiot couldn't even make sure that my insurance would cover the medication?...At no time was a Covid test done, nor a Flu test done...This event occured on 01/30/25...When I became more ill in a few days, I went to Next Care Urgent Care on Northern in Glendale...I was able to speak with FNP Marian Bautista...She did a brief physical, the triage, and a Covid test, as well as a Flu test...As it turned out, I tested positive for the Flu...My daughter was with me for this nightmare visit at the UC in Surprise on Bell & Reems Road...She can verify the chain of events which occurred...I would rate the Surprise Urgent Care as an I I...Inadequate care, and Incompetent staff...Be forewarned and go elsewhere for your medical care & concerns...Ms Sidney M Covich read more

Absolutely no respect is given to "patients", especially if you have Military Health Insurance... not only is the receptionist rude, disrespectful and disregarding of veterans and their families it atrocious how they act as though it's normal!!! The staff genuinely needs an education on Military ID cards and the proper handling of such... I came here a few months ago when I was having lower abdominal pain. I usually get these flare ups but this was a more nagging and painful one. I made an appointment online and when I arrived, I only had to wait 5 minutes before being called back. I understand there was a small wait in the waiting room but this was during large covid cases. My stay was short as the PA determined there might be something wrong with my appendix. He quickly printed out everything to bring to the hospital. Thanks to him, it was discovered that my appendix was borderline and could burst. Now I'm getting monitored just in case of a burst. I want to thank him for not brushing my complaint off and taking me serious when so many doctors would just send you home. I highly recommend this clinic for this PA alone. read more

They said after our evaluation we would be referred out. What's the point? Walked in for an appointment at this location due to having a sore throat and lump on the right side of my neck. The lady at the front desk ask me my name and for my insurance. I told the lady that I unfortunately do not have insurance and told me I would up front have to pay $200 to be seen. I informed her that I didn't have that on me and I would need it billed to the house and she looked at me like I was crazy and said "what do you mean?!". This has never happened to me and I'm flabbergasted on this system and honestly feel neglected. I just wanted to be seen and know I'm okay. The lady didn't even ask me why I was there to begin with or my symptoms were, instead just needed $200 to get me in line for the visit. These people at Banner Health went above and beyond to help my 3 year old daughter when she had a fever and quickly diagnosed her and treated us with very kindly. Even the Pediatric endocrinologist in Glendale for Banner health helped me with my type 1 diabetic som when nobody else would accept him as a new patient. I called several pediatric doctors and endocrinologists trying to establish care and both times Banner was ready to hep when nobody else would. Highly recommend this healthcare organization! Only one person ahead of me when I arrived. Several people who came in after me were seen before me. These were not serious things. I have an infection and was skipped. Pretty sure they forgot about me. Waited in the room for almost an hour. Carol the nurse shoved a huge needle into the swollen area, it bleeds like crazy and she doesn't even bother to clean the area before sticking a bandaid on it... literally blood running down my thumb. Tells me it's nothing and gives me a cream. I live less then a mile from this location and zero chance I come back ever. Horrible patient care. I was sweating the entire time... ever heard of air conditioning? Literally a waste of time and money. Don't bother coming here. Forgive the rant but that was incredibly frustrating. read more

Nah i had went to the urgent care in bell road having problems with my breathing and the nurse and doctor seemed so uninterested in what they was doing in there job and tried to tell me nothing was wrong when I'm litterally turning blue in my fingers. They tested for strep and posted negative but before that they didn't give me no diagnosis didn't tell me how or what it is that I'm having problems with and when i told them if they can just write it exactly and the cause and how all they wrote was " strep throat- " then tried yo tell me what medicine to get even though they have not once gave me anti biotics or anything! read more

I like how the yelp app states that to take into consideration making a review during covid and that businesses are doing their best during these trying times. I agree 100% , But when those that take information from you and botch it in such a way that it makes the mind wonder, how can some, and I state some people, be so severely ignorant just touching the cusp of stupidity. That was our experience today, the day after Christmas 2020. Made an apt online, arrived at said appointment on time. Filled out little form, handed form to Haley, I think she spells her name a little different, anyway, handed her the form and insurance and Id. She took information and said it will be an hour to 1 1/2 hour wait. I said we will wait in the car and she said, I repeat, said, we will text you when it is your turn. 15 minutes later received text that we were dropped from our apt. Went back in and she said, She forgot to update our information in her computer. She said we were back in the queue and they will text us when it is out turn. She repeated my phone number that I wrote on the sign in slip and told her that is correct. One hour and 15 minutes later, still no text. Decided to go back in and she said that they have been trying to text me, there was a Doctor or nurse practioner standing right behind her. I called her out on her lie and she said they were texting me on information that she inputted into the computer. Which was so wrong. I showed her my phone and no text from them and the only text from them was when they dropped our appt. The doc or nurse behind her said my wife will be next. So I got my wife to come in. I looked at their wait list screen on TV and my wife was #44 with an 11 hour wait. The genius taking the information, Haley, said I would have to wait outside. Because of ALL the people in the lobby. She could not count either, Because it was just me and my wife. By my math, correct me if I'm wrong, 1 plus 1 equals 2. I then told the actress behind the computer that the screen says an 11 hour wait, she said it is wrong. No Haley. You are wrong. Long story short, ha ha, my wife did get seen and we are back home now after 2 hours of complete idiocy on Banners hiring practice of people such as Haley. Merry Christmas to all and avoid this location like the plague. You might come in with an injury or illness but will leave with frustration and regret. GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION!!!!!!! I was in a traumatic car crash the day prior and when I was taken back, he told me they had no concussion protocol And that they wouldn't help me if I had no "problem areas" despite my whole body aching and bruised. he went on to add "They aren't just going to X-ray you just because you want one."
