It did take about 30-45 minutes to be seen by a doctor but the nurses were very attentive and checked up on me during the waiting time, gave me a blanket and made sure i was comfortable. The doctor addressed all my concerns and i felt better within 24 hours after visiting. I will definitely recommend friends and family to this care.

On July 3rd, 2026 our daughter was experiencing severe left flank pain with associated nausea…read more Based on our clinical experience, as well as our own personal histories with kidney stones, my wife and I easily recognized that our daughter was experiencing a kidney stone of her own. At about 1AM we took her to the stand-alone ER at Honor Health Complete Care in Surprise, AZ. Once she was taken to the treatment area, a saline lock was placed. When Dr. Heather Ogden-Hamilton came in to the room, she did a cursory physical exam, and then proceeded to tell her that her pain was likely musculoskeletal. She ordered a muscle relaxant and oral ketorolac and a CT scan. All the while, the doctor continually dismissed the severity of our daughter's pain. Once the CT was done, the doctor returned and informed our daughter that she had a 5mm stone in her left kidney, but that it shouldn't be causing as much pain as she was experiencing, and continued to attribute the pain as musculoskeletal. She was eventually discharged, and the doctor faxed prescriptions for Flomax, cyclobenzaprine, ketorolac, and oxycodone. It should be noted that our daughter was given NO IV fluids during her time in the ER (which, along with adequate pain management, is standard of care for patients with acute pain from kidney stones). When we went to pick up the prescriptions from our pharmacy, all but the oxycodone were filled. The opioid was not filled because, in Arizona, controlled substances are required by law to be ordered electronically (fax does not count), a fact that is pretty well known by any provider who has practiced in the state since the law was passed in 2017. It was 3 days from discharge to when she finally was able to get the prescription sent electronically. On the morning of July 20th, she had a return of her severe pain, and had to be taken back to the ER (a different one), where she was given appropriate pain relief and IV fluids, and a repeat CT scan was done. The new scan revealed that the stone was, in fact, 7mm (a huge difference in terms of kidney stones) as well as hydronephrosis and acute kidney damage. She was admitted and scheduled for a lithotripsy the next day. Unfortunately, because her ureters are very narrow, the urologist had to place a stent and have her return in 2 weeks for a second attempt at the procedure. Once they do the procedure, she will need to have the stent remain for a few weeks. The urologist also indicated that she may well have some degree of permanent kidney damage. Had Dr. Ogden-Hamilton made an accurate diagnosis of the size of the stone, and had she acted appropriately in managing the issue (i.e. a transfer to a higher level of care), there would not have been a delay in definitive treatment, and she could have been spared unnecessary pain and kidney damage.

My first visit back here after almost 2 years was, painful for me (thanks COVID) but in reality…read morepainless. I arrived shortly after 8 AM. Checked in, saw the sign for COVID symptoms & said "ALL OF THESE. I HAVE ALL OF THESE!" Taken to the back. Why does no one introduce themself? I don't care if you have a name tag on. Introduce yourself. Tell me who you are. Tell me what you are doing. So much is lost these days & I cannot wrap my head around this. It takes two seconds to introduce yourself. They of course needed to do blood pressure. It's not rational, to me, EVER, to do an automatic blood pressure machine when someone is coughing. The person cannot only 'NOT stay still but can't stay quiet. You know, that whole pesky coughing business. I'm legitimately unable to breathe with some of the coughing so this automated cuff is tightening to the point of pain & I can't feel my fingers. So, I ripped it off & said why. There was some argument that it was necessary & that another cuff could be placed on my forearm. No! What the hell? Why would you think there would be a different result? I said, you can do it manually or not at all. I'm not going to subject myself to additional pain & discomfort because you want to use an automated way. Ultimately, the manual method was done. Quick swab up the nose for COVID & flu test. COVID positive. Here is a prescription for anti-viral, (yep! I sure did require them), cough medicine, & inhaler. "Now, get our." LOL. Back the following Monday after anti-virals complete because of a cough that would not go away. Went in after 10 AM. Wildly different experience. Much longer wait time & a much saltier nurse/nurse assistant/technician. Honestly, I realize I have no idea what their position is, because again, she couldn't be bothered to tell me who she was. I believe her name may have been Courtney. I can't remember, I saw her name tag briefly, but again, she couldn't be bothered to introduce herself. She did the manual blood pressure, I suspect because of a note left from the previous person. Now, she didn't bother to support my arm & strangely enough I do have training in this area because once upon a time, I was a medical assistant. Supporting the arm can make a difference but it simply demonstrated her lack of indifference. Vitals done, "nurse practitioner will be in," & our the door. Waited for 10+ mins & walked out, said, "since I'm waiting, can I please get a COVID test?" I would have thought that would have been done automatically to confirm I was indeed COVID negative. This was apparently offensive to Courtney or whatever her name was because she came in, didn't wash her hands, put gloves on, shoved, yes shoved, very aggressively the swab into one nostril, striking maxilla because of how aggressive she was, & then left. Didn't swab both sides as had been done previously. Nurse practitioner came in. Diagnosed with whooping cough (pertussis), medicine prescribed, & out the door. I had to email several hours later asking for the COVID result because each time I looked it still said processing. This didn't make sense why in the week before the result was done in 10-15 mins but now was several hours. Finally, results done & COVID negative. Interesting how in less than a week, a review can change so drastically. The reality is patient care/bed side manner, customer service makes a huge difference. One person really can make a huge difference. If an organization is willing to hire or leave one employee with a negative attitude unchecked, then it begs the question of how many more & whats the mórale in the organization? I don't know the answers but what I know is, I don't appreciate having a nasal swab shoved aggressively into a nostril that it strikes bone, or that my arm wasn't supported during the blood pressure check. Most importantly, to me, the failure to identify & introduce yourself. It's such a simple thing. Why is it not being done??

If it is your first visit and you are an adoptive parent or guardian you must have your paperwork with you. I had just been the the ER for another one and they required the paperwork to, but not being to Banner they don't have it. The office girl really tiptoed around me and felt bad me having to run home first to get it. I understood as there is a lot going on in the world with families and it is important. It is her job. I was very kind about it. I ran back really fast and came back. Our visitor paperwork had already been filled out, so were taken back right away. PA John was super kind and friendly. Date of visit: Tuesday May 12,2026…read more I came to this ER in severe pain after several days of constipation caused by post‑surgery antibiotics. I was embarrassed and miserable, but the woman at the front desk was compassionate and made me feel safe. I wish the rest of the visit had matched her level of care. Despite explaining that I had already tried laxatives and a suppository at home, I was given the same treatments again, which did not help. Eventually, the staff decided to manually remove the stool. During that procedure, the provider performing it inserted his gloved hand into my vaginal area. This was the same glove being used for the extraction. I immediately reacted, and he quickly said he was "just checking," but it did not feel appropriate, explained, or medically justified. It left me feeling violated, disgusted, and extremely worried about infection. Afterward, I was handed wipes and left alone to clean myself. I left the ER feeling humiliated, shaken, and honestly traumatized. I've debated writing this review because it's personal and embarrassing, but what happened was not okay. Patients deserve dignity, clear communication, and boundaries -- especially during vulnerable procedures. I hope this review leads to better training and oversight.
