I am buy my plants here because they last and the selection is exquisite. Today I received my fall pumpkin package and IT IS AMAZING!!!! The pumpkins are huge the mums and 2 other plants it comes with is amazing and the corn stalks absolutely amazing. If I would have bought this entire package separately I probably would have spent about 500$.. I highly recommend them for any off your needs. The service was spectacular. after calling three stores, they were the only place to have everything I need. I ordered nine Aguave plates and nine pots and six bags of soil. We just bought a house and needed plenty of shrubs and trees. My sister and I went to Bantings since we heard so much about it. Billy waited on us and he was more concerned about texting on his phone than us. Finally when he had "time" for us, he tried to "make it up" by asking if we wanted to meet him for coffee? I ordered a Christmas tree from Banting's after seeing an ad online! I usually use a fake tree but wanted to try this! We ordered a 7'-8' tree, it came with FREE delivery and a tree stand!! The day after I placed the order, I was contacted about the delivery date. The tree was delivered today! The person delivering it gave me a call when he was about 30 mins out and when he arrived. He brought the tree in, set it up in the tree stand and took the netting off. He also gave me some pointers on how to keep it lasting longer and looking great! The customer service all around was fantastic and the tree is beautiful! I also felt that the price of the tree, especially considering delivery and tree stand was very reasonable. read more

I only been once and they seem to have a good selection of plants but for the love of god do not buy dirt from them, they said it was a mix of dirt and sand and they sold me straight mulch and it looks like it was grinded from a tree so it had a little bit of dirt in it. Also the guy that loaded my truck seemed like he has never loaded a truck before, he spilled half of it outside the tailgate and some of it on top of the cabin and didn't even care, put the bucket down, spilled it off and turned around and left. read more

I drove 30 minutes to this nursery on the west bank in order to purchase Peggy Martin (Katrina) roses ($40 each). They are the only nursery in the city that has them right now. I doubt I'll be back simply because it's a hassle for me to get to... The staff was friendly. I'm sure if I had asked, someone would have helped me load my car, but I didn't ask. One staff member asked if I needed help pretty soon after I entered, and then he pointed me in the direction of these roses. Parking is right off of river road, so getting in and out is a little sketchy and you have to be very careful - it's hard to see what is coming. As a Budding Herbalists, I love this spot. I hate to even write this review without any pictures. It does the nursery no justice. The sections at this place are neatly separated into distinguished areas like fruit trees, nut trees etc. You won't be confused walking around looking for certain plants. Every plant is where it's designated to be, the isles have great walking space, and nice size carts to place your selections in. The carts are a bit of a hassle to drive sometimes especially if your getting heavy with your selection like me. That's because I Iove chips and I can never choose just one. My fig tree has blossomed beautifully along with my greens and flowers. They never sold me a bad plant or tree ever! This nursery is also a great location to bring your kids. Especially in the fall they have a really good pumpkin selection. read more

I love going to Bantings, the staff is always so friendly and helpful, until today. The cashier was so incredibly rude and quite honestly degrading. And it wasn't just to me. She treated the customers before and after me in similar way. So disappointing my typically therapeutic shopping experience ended on such a sour note. read more

Since it's Spring, I decided to get the yard together. I recently had to have some plants pulled out of the yard because they died, so I was in the market for some new tree-like shrubs to take their place. I had a specific type I was looking for and after calling around to a few different places, Bantings had what I needed. The process here couldn't have been easier. After I called them, I went over there and they showed me exactly what I was looking for. After helping me pick out the better looking plants of the bunch, they loaded them onto their truck, I checked out, they loaded them into my car and I was on my way. Bantings is HUGE and probably has any type of plant you could ever want. They even have veggies and herbs, in case you want to start you own garden. All of the plants look very healthy and well cared for and I saw multiple people on "water duty" on the day that I was here. Fast service and a wide selection will have me returning to Bantings in the future. read more

Horrible place don't waste your time go to Perinno's. We spent 1400.00 dollars here Father's Day weekend got overcharged and were not allowed to have an advertised discount apparently the lady did not like interracial gay couples. On a positive note the staff member that was assisting us was very pleasant and helpful. read more

I've been going to Bantings for probably 35+ years now. I love their selection of trees and bushes. They often carry the new fancy superior plants that you read about in Dan Gill's garden columns. I just added a real pretty butterfly plant I had read about. Hopefully, the butterflies will appreciate it. The latest ongoing project has been adding and replacing camellias in the front yard. Age of the bushes and a little benign neglect over the past couple of summers gave me an opportunity to redo the beds and freshen up the choice of flower colors. Bantings is also one of the two places I'll go for the annual Valentine's Day rose bush I give my wife. I'll spend about the same amount of money for a bush as for a dozen roses and she'll have roses for years to come rather than a few dead ones after a week or so. If you haven't been - it is a must go-to for all KINDS of plants - from house plants to shade plants to trees, big plants, small plants, herbs, annuals, perennials, vegetables, shrubs - & everything between - they have pots & planters & statues - & other object d'art for the garden - all kinds of neat decor & zoo poo too!!! for REAL!! I went there recently searching for just the right pot for a plant - & I had been searching all OVER - some were too big, too small, not the right color - but mostly WAY TOO EXPENSIVE - I found the coolest pot (of course it had a fleur de lis on it - subtle, but just right) & THE PRICE was FANTABULOUS!!! & this was a big ole hunker pot too - not a flimsy piece of crud pot!! I could have easily spent 30 more dollars on another pot that was not just right!! I was so glad I went!! & the staff - GREAT!! helpful helpful helpful!! - really I cannot wait to go back again - & this time - it will be my FIRST stop!! read more

Banting's is a much more no frills nursery. They usually have a number of more mature trees and also have local favorites (like banana magnolia) that other growers do not. Since they are no frills, they are also cheaper, sometimes. read more

I was the only shopper in the nursery on a recent Sunday. I bought almost $300 worth of plants. The large blonde man with glasses who checked me out didn't even ask if I needed help loading. I had to ask for plastic for my car and loaded it in all myself. I certainly won't be going across town to this nursery again anytime soon. read more

I will never shop here ever! My wife and I went over to purchase shrubs for our garden and the gentleman up front was very nice. We proceeded to walk the yard to shop and had questions. The young lady that was working this past Saturday wasn't helpful and seem as though she didn't want to be bothered and didn't even turn to acknowledge me when asked a question. My wife decided we should ask for help from the gentleman up front. He couldn't answer our question so he in turned called the the young lady to help us. When we noticed who he was referring to we decided we would just leave. He asked what was wrong and we told him and walked off the property to the car. The young lady came running out of the business wanting to fight my wife calling her a liar and shouting obscenities. If the gentleman didn't catch and hold her back we felt like she would have attacked us. The gentleman told us to leave or we would be cited for trespassing. We then left and took our $800.00 we allotted to spend and went to another nursery in Metairie where they would appreciate our business where we bought more than we originally planned. Mind you we were the only customers shopping at the time of this incident. We will be sure to tell our friends and family of our experience at Banting's. My father shops there all the time and now he is taking his business else where. My sister is a real estate developer in the New Orleans area and purchases her gardening products at Banting's for all her properties. She also stated she will no longer use this business for her products. read more

Love Bantings!!! So worth the short drive from the East Bank (which is much easier with the new wider Huey P. Long Bridge). My husband and I brought a friend with us who wanted to dress up his naked yard. He was bowled over by the selection of plants in so many sizes and colors. He bought a mandevilla, a passion flower vine filled with blooms, a jasmine and a bunch of annuals. We stocked up on coleus (such a wide variety of colors) then found the very same color azalea to replace a couple of ours which are not doing well. A huge place. Wide selection of tropicals. Citrus and fruit trees, too. The employees are very helpful. Good prices for the quality of the plants. If you need to landscape, they have a biggest selection of plants in the area. read more

Spent $700+ to purchase 100 plants. Loaded the cart with a Banting's employee who was supposedly counting. When unloaded at home, I only received 94 plants. I went back to them with the receipt. They told me that I could re-purchase the 6 missing plants that I had already paid full price for. That is bad customer service and I'm trying to spread the word to stay away. read more

I have shopped at Bantings many times and was very disappointed when I had a problem they were not willing to replace. It is ashame to say Home Depot and Lowes back their products more than a nursery. Will not shop again at Bantings again and will try to let everyone else know. read more
