Banner Lake (Banyan Lake Worth, FL) is one of the worst rehab experiences I've ever witnessed. First of all, this isn't a proper treatment center -- it's an old, run-down hotel that's been poorly converted into a rehab facility. The entire place feels unsafe and unsanitary from the moment you walk in. The majority of the nursing staff and techs simply do not care about the patients. Compassion and professionalism are nonexistent. The therapists are a complete joke -- sessions feel rushed, superficial, and pointless. The food is disgusting, and the rooms reek of mildew and mold, which raises serious health concerns. I am honestly shocked the state hasn't stepped in and closed this place down already. If you choose to leave AMA (Against Medical Advice), they make the process deliberately miserable -- you're forced to wait two hours just to get your belongings back, and they make you wait outside the fence like you're being punished. It's degrading and unacceptable. This facility is not a safe place for healing or recovery. I strongly urge anyone considering Banner Lake to look elsewhere. Until major changes are made -- or the state shuts it down -- I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Banyan treatment centers billing dept is horrible. I have called for an entire month and I have been hung up on, no calls returned and left endless messages. They have all of the insurance to bill claims and will jot provide me with the post information that I need for supplemental billing I will continue to call until I lawfully get what I need but in the mean time I will continue to write the reviews that need to be made for this office read more

The aftercare treatment does not exist. First you are sent in a van to attend classes that a fifth grader could run. Halfway in, half the clients were kicked out overnight because of insurance deductibles that clients did not know about. My therapist was fired and my Caseworker quit within days of each other. The mental health system is a nightmare in general. This group in particular has been beyond helpful. They have helped me navigate this system and have shown care and compassion the entire time. So, I understand that not everyone who calls admissions will be admitted to Banyan's program(s). Some, after review, are deemed to "not benefit from the treatment program". Okay. What should be offered following a rejection of service, ya know, from a reputable treatment facility? The facility should offer to provide other alternatives for treatment, i.e. referrals to other providers and centers- at least that's what I've experienced at previous behavioral health facilities. I didn't get that with Banyan admissions. After spilling my guts and making myself incredibly vulnerable, I get this: "Yeah, we can't help you. Your diagnosis is too complex for us to treat." And that was that. It sort of appears to me like they don't care somehow? Like I said above, I get that not everyone who calls will not be a candidate for their programs, but for God's sake, Banyan, act like you care and help me!!! You turned me away knowing how horrible of a situation I'm in. To everyone reading this review that just needs mental health support and not substance abuse, please beware when seeking treatment here. It's heavily geared towards detox and substance abuse rehab and treatment. You'll get turned away quick and harshly if you don't fit their criteria. Just sayin. This greatly undermined my efforts to reach out for help. I got the courage to seek assistance, only to get turned away because of the "complexity" of my mental diagnoses. Insurance may have been a factor, too. Just do research. There are better places than this one. read more

Never go to Lake Worth Banyan! They will start by losing your clothes as soon as you check in..this happened to MANY People while I was there. They literally give you the wrong medication or the wrong amount 80 percent of the time. If you point this out they are rude and suddenly don't speak any English. You will be waiting for your meds usually for at least 2 hours each time you go. The list goes on and on they basically keep you captive if you want to leave they will not give you your belongings including your phone for 48 hours. If you see nice pictures with a pool do not be fooled everytime it's pool time they're to busy or again, act like they can't speak English. They're overcrowded and way over capacity. There's 1 nurse for every 60 patients. DO yourself a favor and never go here! read more

I spent 45 days learning how to better myself. I was addicted to fentanyl, alcohol and cocaine. For over 25 years. I went to other programs but no other program could advise me or properly guide me to true full sobriety. PHP partial hospitalization program is absolutely five stars they have top therapists, group facilitators and a professional team of people who truly want to help you better your life. One year ago today I walked out of Banyans treatment center in Palm Springs sober and ready to start my recovery journey out in society. Something I hadn't done in over 20 years my personal experience at Banyan was amazing it was hard at times but the staff was great and helped me through one of hardest times of my life staff members like Teddy the alumni coordinator and therapist like Mj made my time a Banyan wonderful. Games nights with Teddy and Talks And groups with Mj gave me hope and strength to run a good program and want to stay sober. Even after Banyan Teddy continues to provide alumni like me with wisdom and service. If it's not in the Westcoast online meetings it's at seasonal alumni events he host for us to stay connected. the worst rehab center ever i got nothing out of it its more of a hangout for the homeless people getting into relationships and having sex there unprotected and the staff would say nothing my mom came to pick me up and they wanted to call the cops on her because i was not safe there they were loke holding me against my will i told them i was leaving and i had to walk out the gate for them to bring me my phone and meds i asked for a transfer and was told they didn't do transfer when i ama out i called the hotline and was told i could of got a transfer this place is robbing insurance companies someone needs to investigate this place because you do not talk about recovery whats soo ever do not take your loved ones there they will suffer read more

Banyans staff is the the main reason for providing stars, they are very engaged and genuine. The reason for the low score is for the medicine management or lack of; I came into banyan with 5 days worth of meds and it took up until day 5 to start processing a refill, it took another 4 days to receive my meds. Furthermore I nor the majority of the clients had a viewing with a Psychiatrists in all the stay. Lastly at the IOP phase there is no one to provide med refills, you are on your own. They run like a business, each iop session is 3k per client, yet they cannot provide a Psych. The worst part is this treatment center is a dual diagnosis facility, but do not care about the mental wellbeing. read more

It was the worst treatment center I've ever been to in my life. First, the admission staff completely lies to you about what they offer just to fly you out there and get your insurance money. They flew me out from Texas to their facilities in Florida and promised they would fly me back, which was a lie. Then the facilities itself were completely trashed with trash and cups and food. Then to add to it not one of the staff members spoke clear English as they were almost all Haitian. This would not have bothered me bc I am not racist but their lack of professionalism, job performance and respect for the clients was so unbelievably awful. Not to mention they were extremely lazy and even lost some of my items that I brought from home which I never got back. Also, at one point a certain nurse began talking badly about me in front of me while on the phone over me not giving her enough "lunch time break". but which I gave her 5 mins bc she asked me specifically to do so. When I entered back in the med room she was clearly badmouthing me to another person over the phone in which I called her out. She then preceded to tell me "Jump if you want" as in threatening me to fight her. I couldn't believe the lack of respect for not only her own job but for the patients she was serving as well. She at least got written up but should've been fired. Many other things happened there such as bloody fights, I was offered drugs. Many times and it was basically like I was back on the street. This place is a scam and the worst place I've ever been to in Kylie and that's saying a lot bc I've been to many treatment centers. Be aware and don't go here. read more

I called to find out about treatment for a loved one. They were only interested in our insurance plan and our money. They called me three times to tell me that they had a bed available in a 12 hour period even though I told them that we were looking at other programs. This is wrong!!!! TO THE DIRECTOR and current stakeholders : I strongly recommend At the very least required the clinical management and anyone in leadership to attend the classes and the groups offered (not as an employee but as if they were an actual patient) and participate as such. This will provide much needed insight and ensure they won't be one who again fails to take the time to see that every patient is an individual, anindividual who has needs, and a past, and requires care that is unmatched/unlike any other. Addicts is not alike, and I am DIFFERENT. (Makayla) To the clinical managers: professional development is very important (crucial) not only to yourself but to the team you lead and ultimately to the SUCCESS of THE ORGANIZATION. You all aren't any DIFFERENT than the patients within the facility as well. Just because you AREN'T a patient, AND HAVEN'T EVER BEEN A patient doesn't mean you can group us all as one and discard one one of us who may not want to stay as another failed addict. They lie, different stores from different people, treat patients like animals, tell you everything you want to hear when deciding if this is the right place for a loved one, all to find out it's a lie! Awful, awful, awful place. Was told a Doctor would see your loved one at least once a day; never happened. Sent messages to have a Dr call me, and flat out ignored me. Food is absolutely terrible. Didn't eat for 12 days. Never even spoke with a counselor. Spent the majority of time watching tv. To many clients not enough staff. The day i arrived there was 6 clients. The day i left they'd was over 30. They kept taking new people in but there wasn't enough staff to even desk with the clients they had. read more

Called for treatment and although requested - found on the 3rd day I was sent to an out of network facility in Boston, MA vs. in network as requested. Overall treatment was good although the tech support staff in certain cases were in less sobriety than the patients claiming to be in Recovery, unprofessional language and demeanor including gossip among staff and other patients, and very loud especially at night when people were in bed. High volume of turnover and staff did not feel like their voice was heard properly. Inconsistent rules and some of the nurses were exceptionally rude (Wendy) and not appropriate. Patients were not always treated as equals. Grateful to the group facilitators, therapists and doctors there and mostly disappointed by: 1) Talked into staying for "quality care" that seemed to be a step down of free-at home detox treatment, costing thousands out of pocket. 2) Customer facing roles not requiring longer sobriety length and lack of general professionalism with support staff. read more

I had a family who was placed in BaJuan. They are ONLY about the MONEY. I received a call because my review on another site stated this and was blasted by Laura. During the call she said she would call back when she listen to the recording of the Finance department BULLYING me for payment because they did not verify the insurance like they said they did and wanted $30,000 to treat my brother, how ever would give me a deal of $12,000 for the 28 days. still waiting to hear back from them. They are a FOR PROFIT place so are more worried about payment then the care and help of patients. GO ELSEWHERE FOR TREATMENT!!!! After his completion of the inpatient part they set him up with outpatien, YUP YOU GUESSED IT THEY CALLED MY SISTER FOR THE $400 a day fee. seriously DISGUSTING. read more

Here is an in depth review of experience during my stay here. My original therapist Marissa was exceptional. Sad to have her leave during my treatment I'm certain it was for a better future for her. Since her departure I had to bounce around multiple therapist until 1 was assigned to me a few days before the end of my time there. So actually no therapeutic treatment had been continued since the departure of my original therapist. 5 of their case managers left the same week as some of the therapist. So I was assigned Shannon 1 of the supervisors. Absolutely horrified when I told her of services I was looking for to be able begin whatever paperwork and let her know what my interest were. Shocked to find out she hadn't heard of vocational rehabilitation and hoe they don't assist with any services outside of asking you where you would like to go after treatment there. 2hich is either continue with banyan for treatment or a sober living. Very limited with any options. When I expressed my desire to transfer facilities during the beginning of my 2nd week there. Speaking with staff members to see what I needed to do to transfer. I was avoided and redirected twice to speak with the clinical director jennifer. Who claims she hadn't heard I had been looking for her to speak with her. read more

My future father-in-law and I both thought that my boyfriend (his son) needed extensive inpatient treatment to recover from a lifetime of abuse by his mother. We were wrong. My bf's father was equally as abusive as his mother, we just didn't realize it. It was my future FIL's behavior toward my bf and me that was driving my bf to relapse and appear like he needed intensive inpatient. He really just needed to get out of an abusive environment. Banyan did not help, and since leaving that place where we lived with my FIL, my bf has made a remarkable recovery and is his old self again (aside from the lingering effects of a lifetime of abuse that will take time and patience to heal). Point being, this "PHP" did nothing. Banyan is a sham. I have spoken with professional therapists and psychologists who have shown me respect, consideration, patience, and professionalism, and who have helped me a great deal and earned my trust. I have learned through them that most of the things the "professionals" at Banyan told my bf were unsubstantiated and un-peer-reviewed claims. My therapist, an experienced and successful trauma therapist certified in EMDR, has clarified that PHP programs do not involve being isolated from the outside world for the duration of treatment. Legitimate partial-hospitalization programs are indeed *partial* hospitalization--the patient has access to their phone and has contact with their existing support system at all times, and attends the program from the comfort of their own home. Real PHPs are simply more intensive therapy programs. Banyan, on the other hand, isolated and manipulated my bf. His phone was confiscated for the entire duration and he was only allowed to make calls to *specific*, approved people in the outside world for 15 total minutes per *week*. He was not allowed to leave the program. He lived in an apartment affiliated with Banyan, that is, the only other residents of the apartment were other Banyan patients, and he was shuttled from there to the treatment center and back, with no opportunities to exist in the world beyond. He was isolated from any information not delivered to him by Banyan employees, who proved to be incompetent and "taught" him things that are unsubstantiated in the scientific realm of peer-reviewed psychology. The person who came back to me after a month away was not the person I knew. He acted different. Where my boyfriend had been my closest ally and confidante before, now he had no time for me ever, would shut me down if I so much as opened my mouth, and believed I was a burden to him. He has since recovered from what he has described as brainwashing (I agree with the term, however weighted it may seem, and I don't use it lightly) and described to me traumatic conditions that he never wants to go back to. He doesn't like talking or thinking about Banyan because of how they isolated him and messed with his head. Some things I have heard from him, without going into details that would violate his privacy: - My bf is triggered by having to wait around with nothing to occupy his mind. This was basically his entire experience. There was nothing to do there but read and write in his journal. For someone who likes those activities, that might not sound so bad. But my bf's favorite - and healthy - activities are gaming, watching shows he loves, reading comics on his phone, etc. He LOVES computers and he's really smart, he literally built his and my PCs from scratch. He had no access to technology whatsoever and he was left alone with his thoughts. - My bf was abused by a person who gave into the symptoms of their severe mental illness and this is the primary source of his PTSD. A person with the exact same mental illness, who had it bad enough to be in a PHP facility, was forced as his roommate. - My bf has sexual trauma and was touched when he specifically told people he did not want to be. They didn't listen. He was instead given lip service about "hurt people, hurt people" (that is, people who have been hurt, hurt others, and that's why he got touched, and he should try to understand the other person rather than be upset over a boundary violation). - My bf reported unwanted sexual contact involving another patient who was touched and harassed by another one of the patients. A counselor told him that he was in the wrong, that privacy comes before safety and he should not have reported this. The other counselors ganged up on him. At the end of the program, which the staff each said goodbye to the patients and left them with kind words and encouragement, my bf was not-so-subtly told to remember that he's a good guy but that he's not right all the time and to make sure not to be so impulsive. I do not recommend this place. I would give it zero stars for my rating if that were possible, because it did not help at all--it added to my boyfriend's trauma and PTSD. read more

This is not a dual diagnosis rehab as advertised. The counselors are inexperienced and will have you watch YouTube videos for counseling. They base treatment release dates on your insurance, not your MH/Addiction needs. People would jump the fence, get drugs and then be allowed to come back. A person OD' on Thanksgiving day. It's a fight to see a case manager. I didn't see one for almost two weeks and I had to go to her office and just sit down to even see her. Please find a better treatment facility. read more

I wish i could select no stars for Banyan. Very poor treatment program. This place tells you that you have to do 5 days of IOP until you get a job and then you may do only 3. Yet, they ask for $150 a week for rent, which nobody pays. Hmmm, how is it they can survive without our rent money? Truth is, they don't need rent money from clients. They just know it is illegal to use insurance money paid for IOP services to house clients. So they just tell you ot cost $150 a week to live in their "Sober Houses." Not to mention the residences are complete roach motels. I'm not sure exactly how much they make from insurances but it sure as hell is enough to afford more than what the clients are provided. Also they bill clients insurance for the catering services at the group center, yet each client is allowed to eat only once per day. Stay far away from Banyan if you or a loved one is seeking a place where you feel welcome and cared about. At the end of the day, all clients are here is a dollar sign. read more

My daughter completed a stay with Banyan in the PHP, and IOP program. Absolutely happy with her success, the facility, therapists, group therapy, and all the counseling she received. Great communication from her individual therapist, keeping us updated on her progress and what to expect next weekly and or we could call and request an update. Promptly returned calls. We are out of state, so it was nerve racking for us as parents to leave her but they reassured us. I feel like Banyan saved her life, they taught her a lot and they gave her the knowledge and tools to fight her addiction. She wanted it and fought hard to do all the hard work! I had the best therapy here that I had in my life - and I have had a few different therapists in nearly ten years. everybody's path is different no matter if two people take the same steps to get to the end or not. experiencing banyan or any treatment center is like that. what banyan offered me at a time in my life where i was in a "gray" area was a chance to escape my environment and placed somewhere i never would have actually wanted to go had i not started seeing a future. so, what i'm saying is that at a time that was most uncomfortable, Banyan provided the tools for me to be comfortable with feeling uncomfortable. that being said, i feel that more alternatives to twelve steps should be incorporated and made aware of. I was lucky enough to be able to be apart of Banyan treatment mental health PHP program. Everyone is so friendly. Group coordinators are great at how they conduct groups CBT and DBT are used throughout treatment . My therapist Madyson really truly cared, kept it professional but also made me feel like a normal human. Almost all techs are in recovery and truly truly care about your wellbeing. I think it's great banyan hires like techs. The apartments are nice. 1. Downfall , the vans they transport you in are old and need to be replaced . No ac in this Florida heat is never fun.
