Is this someone's home or a bar, come on in and find out!

Coming to back to write a review since I came across my photos from when I was in Austin a few weeks ago. We thought it looked cool from outside, so we walked in. It felt kind of weird walking up because it looks like you're walking into someone's yard and into their house. I slowly opened the door just in case I was! It was a chilly week in Austin (sadly for us). Upon entry, we were greeted with warmth that felt like that from a fireplace. It was so cozy! The decor is all wood and tall chairs. Super chill vibe. The bartenders were really friendly and gave us some suggestions for our time in Austin, which turned out to be great advice! I don't recall which margarita I had, but it was spicy and delicious. My friends enjoyed their drinks as well. If I found myself back in Austin, I would definitely visit again. I would love to spend some time on that beautiful patio!

Cutest little bar right by the Holiday Inn as well as some of the other hotels in the area. It's a super low-key place for a late night snack (tacos), unique craft cocktails and very friendly bartender that love their craft!

Wow! What an experience. From the moment my group of 10+ walked in, Jake greeted us and was genuinely happy we were there. He then educated us on the menu & made great suggestions for each party member's taste preferences. Finally, Jake lit the place ON FIRE & by that I mean a very delicious drink. A one of a kind ending to a great trio in Austin.

With intentions of grabbing a spicy margarita at Pelons, I found myself intrigued by the spacious patio and bar next door. This is a converted house similar to a Rainey street bar but in the middle of Red River next to the old Jamie's Village. The patio is shaded by a huge old oak tree and has cool lighting. The drink menu consists of margaritas, cocktails, beers, wine. Most intriguing was the margarita menu. I tried the spicy margarita with patron silver and citronage, fresh lime juice, grapefruit and muddled jalapenos with chili salt on the rim. It was pretty good but the spice was mild. I also had the house made sangria with Spanish red wine, brandy, orange liquor infused with fruit served on ice. The sangria was not too sweet and the perfect patio weather drink. I had a sip of the Cuernos Largos which is their strongest drink with a 2 drink max. The Cuernos was no joke, it was tasty, strooong and in true Austin fashion it was "burnt" orange. Some of the other drinks that looked enticing was the Texas sipper with St Germaine and Tito's vodka, the skinny mojito and the bloody Mary with black pepper infused vodka and zing zang. The drink menus are the same as Pelon's but they do not serve food at 508. However there is a food trailer called Zorro's serving up mini tacos on site. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm-6pm and consists of $3 wells, $4 wine, $5 sangria/house margaritas.

But it was more important to the Powder Room that the next group got their table on time, apparently. The drinks took soooo long, we got ONE round in, and were asked to leave the table before our second round arrived. They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

There are some tables, and big comfy couches around a coffee table in the middle of the bar which is where we sat. I had one of their happy hour cocktails that was similar to a creamy espresso martini, and they are 50% off on happy hour days/times! My friend got one of their floral cocktails which wasn't discounted but I LOVED it personally. I also got a strawberry matcha drink (non alcoholic) that was a little too sweet in my opinion; I finished it but wouldn't get it again. Overall though the cocktails and vibe in there are worth a visit alone! When it's not too hot, the area outside has little mini-chandeliers and is also very vibey.

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

The space has a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot for a night out, special occasion, or simply enjoying thoughtfully crafted cocktails. I came here for the first time recently fly to enjoy after dinner cocktails and catch up with a friend. I started with the Oaxaca Old Fashioned, created by Phil Ward in 2007 at Death & Co. in New York City. This cocktail features reposado tequila, Del Maguey Vida mezcal, maguey sap syrup, mole bitters, Angostura bitters, cassia tincture, and a flamed orange peel. The combination of tequila and mezcal brought a beautiful smoky depth, while the mole bitters and orange peel added layers of spice and richness. It was a unique and memorable twist on a classic Old Fashioned. I ended up liking my friends drink better so traded for the Buck to the Future which was another creative standout, featuring George Dickel Rye Whiskey, Lustau Manzanilla Sherry, strawberry-basil-balsamic purée, Nardini Amaro, ginger syrup, lemon, and barrel-smoked black pepper. This cocktail had an impressive balance of sweet, savory, herbal, and smoky flavors. The strawberry and basil brought a fresh brightness, while the sherry, amaro, and rye created a complex backbone with a subtle peppery finish. I then tried the Penicillin, a classic cocktail created by Sam Ross in 2005 at Milk & Honey in New York City. Roosevelt Room's version combines blended Scotch, Ardbeg 10-year Scotch, honey and ginger syrup, and lemon juice, finished with candied ginger. It had a wonderful balance of smoky Scotch, bright citrus, and warming ginger notes. It was smooth, complex, and a great introduction to their cocktail program. Roosevelt Room clearly takes pride in the art of cocktail making, with knowledgeable bartenders and a menu that highlights some of the most influential drinks in modern cocktail history. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates expertly crafted cocktails in an elegant Austin setting.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
