Congratulations to Bar 9 Central for becoming my new regular coffee location in the CBD! The resonably priced coffee's taste fantastic and are available both take away and dine in. However I seriously suggest you take some time out of your busy schedule to dine in a enjoy Bar 9's great atmosphere. The vintage couches at the front and rear of the store make it the perfect setting for coffee catchups with your close group of friends whilst the two-person booths make Bar 9 the perfect location for an intimate coffee date. Simple additions such as the delicious food being served on a wooden chopping board and Iced coffees being served in jars make Bar 9's dining experience more enjoyable than your average coffee store. The accessible free wifi and serene setting make Bar 9 Central a great place to grab a coffee whilst you fire off work emails or complete the final touches of an assignment thats due date is steadily approaching. Sadly the only reason Bar 9 Central doesn't score 5 stars is because I simply can't seem to ignore the fact it resides in the David Jones food court. The racket from the busy food court can kill the mood almost instantly. Bar 9 Central has limited seating so you may actually find yourself missing out on the Bar 9 atmosphere completely as you are forced to find a seat amongst the common dining area of the David Jones food court. Like I said at the start, Bar 9 Central is fantastic and it has safely secured the position of my regular coffee spot in the CBD. However, from now on I might just plan to avoid it during the busy lunch hour of 12-1 pm.

I had brunch/lunch with a friend here yesterday, and I would have to say I was VERY impressed!! For a start, they serve breakfast til 3pm - which is VERY rare in the CBD. Secondly the food, coffee, tea and atmostphere were GREAT!!! When we walked in, we were greated with a smile, and pointed towards the menus. This was the first pleasent surprise, the food menus were in the front of Golden Books and the drinks menus in Dr Seuss books. I chose to have scrambled eggs, bacon and tomatos. Now, I am VERY fussy about my bacon. I like it very crispy - in fact I commonly refferr to it as Dead Bacon :) However, the majority of places that you go these days are more interested in getting the food out to you as quickly as possible, and not in what the customer actually asks for, so needless to say, I often dont actually get "dead bacon" but in this case... I did :) The food was made with the highest quality ingredients, RSPCA eggs, Birkshire Bacon and fresh full vine tomatos, finished off with a fresh rockett and parmesan salad on top :) I cannot highly enough recommend this place. The only negative I had was that they did not yet have EFTPOS and we had to go get cash out, but I am certain that will be fixed soon. :) Seriously - if you have not already checked this place out - do so :)

Today was my second trip back to Bar 9 and this time I decided try out the breakfast menu. I had the bacon and scrambled eggs which were great. The eggs were cooked perfectly, fluffy and creamy. There was so much bacon I almost couldn't finish. Almost. The rocket and shaved cheese on top just finished the meal off. Seriously great value food that tastes amazing.

Bar 9 is a somewhat hidden gem, tucked away in the basement food court downstairs from David Jones. The location might not be as hip as Adelaide's laneway gems along Peel, Leigh and Bank Streets, but don't let that fool you - all that changes when you cross the threshold. Bar 9 has some of the best coffee in the CBD. The pour over is gorgeous. They also do single origin and cold drip, and house brewed iced tea. Great vibe, consistently good music, small but tasty menu and friendly and attentive staff. Great to see that Bar 9's second location had matched the standards of the original. Highly recommended.

Finally! I got to experience the second Bar 9 and I'm so damn glad I did! The five star rating was planted on this baby for these reasons: - the service was lovely, with people behind the counter you can actually hold fantastic conversations with. - at first the brekky menu did appear a little plain/boring BUT let me tell you, when you order the 'bacon & eggs' you are really ordering crunchy bruschetta with a large side of smoked bacon, with perfectly poached eggs and topped with rocket and parmesan - pure amazingness! - Coffee? Nothing short of amazing. - And lastly, but possibly the best moment was choosing your own cartoon figurine table number setting AND choosing from menus that are printed on old school Disney books.. just goes to show, its always the little things! Thanks Bar 9! See you soon!

The ham and fried egg roll in a brioche bun was really tasty. I added the San Jose bacon.

The bartender Matt is amazingly awesome and will concoct whatever drink you can imagine. He does it with pleasure and his enthusiasm is infectious. Then there is the owner Anna , A wine connoisseur with the taste and talent to pair the perfect wine to the perfect dish. We started out with the yellow fin tuna appetizer paired with the perfect Pinot Grigio, it was fabulous! The cubes of fresh tuna light coated in sesame seeds, the squash compote and paprika that delicately decorated the plate, Then there was the watermelon cubes that after enjoying your slice of tuna refreshed your pallet so perfectly before you enjoyed the next morsel of tuna, pleasantly back and forth with sips of the delicious well balanced Pinot Grigio. It was like the opening act at the symphony, orchestra. For our main course, the orchestra conductor stepped up the tempo of harmonious delights. The presentation of food, the fabulous, delicious, flavors were all in synchronized harmony. My wife chose the pork cutlets I chose the rib eye Anna help us pair them with the perfect Pinot Noir from Adaline area. Magnificently, smooth and delicious, yet light spicy with light cherry notes that went well with our dinner this evening it paired magnificently. The meals: my wife's pork cutlet so soft and tender seasoned to perfection it naturally just falls apart in your mouth. The quinoa, and fresh, sweet, tender, beets that surrounded the pork cutlet elevated it to a heavenly state, moist tender, delicious full of flavors, the greens on the plate accented it to a meal for the Gods. The Rib eye steak is nothing like you would ever expect to be served stateside. It was far above the average standard cut of restaurant steak. Moist, tender, and perfectly prepared. There was no need to chew the morsel, because once you placed it in your mouth your taste buds jump-up in excitement. While dancing around in your mouth they made the morsel of ribeye, just melt away on your tongue. The green beans are as if they were just picked directly from the plant. The cherry tomatoes when you popped them in your mouth the juice and flavor of just one tiny tomato was like you had the most perfectly prepared bowl of fresh tomato soup in front of you. Each and every single morsel of this meal was like a Concerto in your mouth and you mind, simultaneously deleting, and enlightening each & everyone of the senses in your entire body. All of this in the Ambience of the 1860 treasury architectural design building. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you set up a reservation, set time a side and enjoy a fabulous meal, a fabulous wine, with a fabulous owner who knows her stuff. Anna is full of energy. She knows how to make sure each and every customer has the meal of their life! Bon appétit.

I heard they do good steaks but I was craving for a burger so being the smart me, I ordered a steak burger. Turns out there wasn't 20% off this one but it was a good deal of $10 with any drink of your choice! We also ordered the 300g rump steak and the Panko crumbed prawns, which consisted of a good serve of 10 prawns, tartare sauce, chips and salad. Much to my disappointment, my order was forgotten and I had to wait for half an hour before it arrived. The waitress was very kind and apologised for the delay and even offered me another drink! I was going to turn a blind eye to the food delay until I bit into my burger! The steak patty was chewy and I just could not take another bite. At this point, it was already past 8.30pm which is when the kitchen closes but the waitress was again, kind enough to re-make my order. I decided to swap to Panko crumbed prawns instead and they happily did it for me. Overall, I wouldn't say this was a completely bad experience. Yes, the steak burger is a definitely a no-no for me on my next visit but the rump steak, which I got to taste, was surprisingly quite tender. The good service also made my experience a whole lot better. Harry's bar has a nice old country pub feel as you enter, so I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet spot to drink. They do also have partitions if you're wanting to organise your next function here.

Maybe I didn't dig too deep into the place, or maybe it was just that it was only a sports bar, but when I came back here recently they had completely opened up the uppper level. Oh, as it is with Adelaide, sure enough when I wandered into this pub I ran straight into a couple of old friends of mine, so I ended up killing some time with them. They actually had a decent selection of beers on tap, and the balcony was also pretty cool. In fact it is a much better addition to the Adelaide pub scene that this place used to be.
