Thank you "Yelpers". We never would have found this place - but enjoyed our lovely lunch by the canal. Salad and sandwiches on the menu. Good beer. Bitte Ballen was good too!!

Really nice food. Enjoyed the break between the museums. Very close to the Rijks. Outdoor patio is a great place to sit and do nothing. Cheers!

Excellent lunch, great view, and good service. Enjoyed watching the canal boats cruise by.

A nice cafe along a canal that's walking distance from Rijskmuseum. It's a cute vibe because the outside dining area is in a tucked side canal so there's not really any foot traffic. The staff were efficient, nice and speak English. The poffertjes were delicious.

This is the kind of cafe that I think many people want to find in Amsterdam - calm, beautiful views for outdoor seating, good food and drink, and a nice place to relax. I liked it so much I actually went here twice! They have seating inside, as well as some seating on the street and facing the canal. I snagged a canal seat both times and loved it. Both times I went in the afternoon and the cafe was not busy, but even if I had needed to wait for a seat it would have been worth it. They have some good food options, including some open-faced sandwiches. The vibe is charming, the service was courteous, and I loved getting to sit and sip some sparkling wine while watching the world go by in the canal. I would absolutely return here next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Friendly folks. a tad off the beaten pass which is great. We had broccoli soup, meatball sandwich, a glass of wine and a draft beer. Was about 23 euros. Great ambiance and several tables on the canal with a bit of shelter from rain.

Super friendly proprietors, simple fresh food, seating canal side, reasonable prices. It's the best place we've eaten at in Amsterdam so far. Stop by after going to the Museum. Also, no other tourist here when we had lunch.

Sometimes, you just want to have a very good time drinking and dining the fast way with friends before you head out for more fun into the evening. At those times, you also want to stay around the vicinity of Amsterdam's many 'entertainment areas' without getting overrun by tourists and the subsequent high prices. Mankind is your place. While I have never had anything to eat here apart from the snacks, they do have quite a versatile menu. I figure the owners are Italian, so having a good food menu is sort of a given. The drinks just keep flowing here. The interior is very nicely done, if you can find place to sit down on a Friday evening! The upside of the location on the canal also means that given favorable weather you get a nice view and expansive terrace for free. Bar service is quick and comes with complementary smiles. It's always good to interact with other bar patrons as it tends to be mostly a very international crowd with all the multinational companies nearby. If you want to be in Leidseplein for a few drinks without 'actually' being there, this is your spot. Buy me a couple drinks while you're at it, too!

I needed a small meal to start the day and this place delivered. Guys at the bar were very friendly and offered advice to myself and all the other tourists who made a pitstop. Prices were good, 2 fried eggs over brown toast for just under €7. It was cozy place, they had candles lit at each table at middle of the afternoon. They gave out free fried bread (dutch special for New Yeas) to all their guests. It was déicious.

The food is great and the staff is super nice. The bartender gave us a ton of advice on things we were talking about doing. Everyone that came in to pick up lunch seemed to be a regular so they're Doing something right for sure. Such a nice place to take a breather and have lunch..a little less crowded than your standard lunch spot, so good place to stop in for a quick bite.

Not sure what else is on the menu as we just ordered apple pie with whipped cream. A single slice is plenty for two people. It is not overly sweet, the crust is really good (a slight taste of Biscoff cookies to me), and it has a few raisins in it as well. It was a nice night nice so we sat outside. The patio is large and seats plenty. The service is good, not great, but I was okay with it. My needs were meager - get my pie! N*joy!

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.

Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
