My husband and I ordered take out for the first time on 11/16/20 to celebrate my birthday and the food was delicious! We ordered the following: meatballs and calamari as appetizers and pumpkin ravioli and pork chops scarpariello for entrees with tiramisu for dessert and everything was great! Made my birthday special and this pregnant lady very happy during these social distancing times we're living in. The calamari was perfection - still crispy and none of them were soggy which is usually the case with take out. I was craving pumpkin ravioli and they did not disappoint! The meatballs were sooo tender and I could've eaten 10 more and the pork scarpariello was juicy, tender, and spicy! I threw a private party here for my husband's 30th birthday this past weekend. The private room upstairs was perfect for our party (~30-35 people). We did a cocktail style event with our own private bartender and platters of food. Everyone was raving about the paninis and the calamari. The bartender and the server that was helping around the room were both fabulous (and even wore my silly party hats that I bought). The prices were very reasonable for the food and we did a cash bar which everyone seemed to enjoy. I am grateful for Andrea, the planner, as it was a surprise party and I emailed him a ton of times. My friend and I went to Bar Rosso Thursday for an early dinner. We sat outside, had a glass of wine. It was our first time out since outside dining became available in Stamford. We ordered a salad, entree and a dessert. The salad was fresh with seasonal ingredients. The gnocchi with short ribs was tender, moist and so delicious! The servers did a great job in terms of the tables being well separated, all staff wore masks, paper or app menus were offered. We felt very comfortable and safe. Will definitely go back. read more

Dreadful. Bread was inedible. Salad included good arugula, tomatoes and passable parmesan - all would have been fine if it weren't doused with a sickeningly sweet interpretation of Balsamic vinegar. Lunch - Two people - sat at the Bar. Three tapas - Blah meatballs -- totally bland. No sauce came with the Calimari - chewy. Baked olives - not warm. Three Charcuterie - you hardly get anything - we tried procuitto and salumi. Piece of cheese was so small it was embarrasing. Nothing on the menu really sounded exciting. Thank God the bottle of wine was reasonable for $21, but spending over $30 on the above for lunch was just a waste of money. Beautiful space - but reminded me of the "Italian" Barcelona. I will say the atmosphere of the place is nice. Great layout and has all the promise of a great new restaurant, but that is about where the compliments end. The service was fair but the food was beyond sub par. We had a party there and we were quote $50 plus tax and gratuity/person for a four course with wine, beer, soda, liquor was extra. We received bruschetta for the app, a mixed green salad, penne bolognese, and some kind of roasted chicken. Although the bruschetta, salad, and pasta were fair the chicken was almost inedible. It tasted like it was microwaved then stuck over the fire pit on the front patio. On top of that it was family style and there was barely enough of the main course to serve everyone. Our real problems began when the bill came. Now until the bill came out we never met the manager for the entire night (never showed his face) for any of the three parties going on. We were charged for forty people even though only 24 people were at the party. He was verified that morning by our coordinator that only 25-30 people would be coming. Not only did he keep the settings for forty, he also charged us for them. He argued that his servers kept the count and we were served for forty people. Now we counted. Each main plate had four chicken pieces and three or four fingerling potatos. There were six plates brought out. How do 24 pieces of chicken serve 40 people?! Our bill ended up being $1000 more than what it should have been. We had to argue with him for 30 minutes before he came down to the correct price. I just dont get it. Every other establishment I have been to for a party the manager would come up make sure everyone was served, the food was good, and above all make sure the head count was correct. In the end he was only concerned about how the food was and that the bill was paid, the two items that were the worst part of the whole experience. I will go out and have drinks here but the food was not worthy for me to spend my money or appetite on. I suggest the owner correct his manager's issues and attitude and maybe this place can come out on top someday. Until then we give Bar Rosso 48 thumbs down!!!! Went with a few girlfriends and the atmosphere was really nice. Dark, trendy and cool decor. The waiter was very friendly but was nowhere to be found when we needed him. Ordered a martini for $13 and there was no alcohol in it at all and this was also the case for everyone I was with (one of my friends ordered sangria and it was just OJ and fruit, and the frose for $16 also tasted like they didn't use alcohol). The pasta was way too overcooked as well and definitely shouldn't have been soggy. Better off just ordering wine or beer to ensure you're actually getting what you paid for. read more

This bar has one redeeming quality: the bar. Drinks are pretty good and the bar staff was very good. Jack, you can disregard the rest of this review. HOWEVER. We waited almost TWO HOURS for a table. We did get 2 bottles of prosecco comp'd for our party of 9, but only after 1 1/2 hours of waiting. The food is way over-priced. The only reasonable things on the menu are the burger, pizzas and "bar snacks". A friend was upset you couldn't mix and match the bar snacks. Not very customer-friendly. The hanger steak, at $30, was tasty but TINY. Seriously, when it arrived, we all stared at it like we were watching child molestation in action and were powerless to stop it. The location is nice, decor is pretty good, but the space is big enough for a lot more tables, and the inattentive waitstaff isn't too concerned about turning them over. I don't think anyone in our party will ever go back there. No one HATED their food, but we were just overall very disappointed with the whole experience. read more

I was glad when this restaurant replaced the old boring one in the same location on Spring St. The upgrade in decor is trendy and fun, providing plenty of ambience if meeting with friends for drinks. The downside, food is average. My diver scallops were overcooked and not particularly flavorful and my wifes short ribs were tough and stringy (i,e, maybe not cooked enough). My friends salad was very tasty as was my steamed clams but as someone else mentioned, a little heavy handed on the salt. The pork belly was also a tad tough and my Stella Atois was flat from the tap. The high wood ceilings are attractive but the lack of insulation makes the restaurant very noisy. Better up your A-Game but then again, Stamford is full of mediocre restaurants opened by restaurantuer want-to-be's. read more

It's comparable to Bradford's at this point. The servers are young, not trained and uninterested. The managers are lazy and arrogant. We went to Bar Rosso after work for a small office gathering. It's a nice medium sized place tucked away on spring street right in front a parking lot which is really convenient. We stayed pretty much at the bar drinking and taking some appetizers all along. Tried fried parmesan, calamari and 3 different kinds of pizza. All food items were quite good and appetizing. The Stella I took from the tap tasted and smelled a bit funny. Figured out it was the glass that was to blame. I would recommend this place. read more

Met some friends on a Friday night for small plates and wine. The small plates were good but VERY high priced. $16 or $18 for two lamb chops? 3 scallops? Come on... Yes the food was good but a ripoff. They have a good wine list and most BTG selections are over $10. The service was great. One thing that was exceptionally irritating was how flooded the restaurant became with overflow traffic from the bar. We were sitting in our seats and being bumped and jostled and touched by the bar crowd. Not to mention the noise level is deafening. If I was in the bar mood the bar would have been great but it was impossible to have a comfortable conversation at a table.
