My first mistake was eating at a restaurant with a 3.6 rating. When we arrived, I mentioned we had a reservation and that our party was already seated. Instead of being guided, the host told us to "go find them," which felt odd and unprofessional for a sit-down restaurant. The food itself was fine. I ordered the spicy vodka sauce, which was noticeably spicier than most versions, if you're sensitive to heat I'd recommend getting the regular sauce and adding pepper flakes yourself. Service was where things really fell apart. Throughout the night, any questions we had about protocols were met with defensiveness rather than clarity. When the check came, it was handwritten (no printed receipt), and the handwriting was genuinely hard to read. When we asked for clarification to simply understand our bill the server accused us of harassing her, which was unnecessary and uncomfortable. Overall, the ambiance was okay: white tablecloths but casual attire. However, the service felt unwelcoming, especially toward guests who aren't regulars. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Our experience at this Italian restaurant in Norwalk was deeply disappointing. From the start, we had to find our own table, and it took more than 10 minutes just to get any water or bread. Throughout the evening, we constantly had to ask for basic thing like refills of water, and each request was met with dismissiveness or rudeness from the server. She said she "does not do that stuff." She claimed to be the owner but showed no professionalism, adding a sharing charge just because I was sitting at the table with only a glass of wine. When i said i would have a tiramisu as my meal due to having ate earlier, this was met with resistance as well, claiming that is only an appetizer. I feel as though she was trying to upcharge and force us to get more items. When we asked for clarification on these charges, she accused us of harassment and threatened to call the cops. We even had a situation where a vegetarian dish was served with meat, and instead of correcting it, she argued with us. By the end of the night, we just paid the bill, which was handwritten and unclear. We left feeling overcharged and disrespected. The food was decent but the service made the entire experience unbearable. We're sharing this so others know to be cautious, you shouldn't have to beg for basic service or be treated this way. read more

I normally order takeout from this place and the food has always been good. This time, I decided to eat in with my brother. We just wanted a couple of beers and a pizza. We ordered a red clam casino pizza, but the order was mixed up. About 30 minutes later, clams came out as an appetizer. I had to tell the busser that it was supposed to be a pizza, not an appetizer. Since we were hungry, we kept the clams, but then had to wait another 20 minutes for the pizza. The food itself was good, but the service was terrible. After finishing our beers and water, I tried to get the busser's attention. She was looking in my direction but never acknowledged us. After waiting a few more minutes, I finally got up, holding both empty beer bottles, just to ask for water and two more beers. It felt like regular customers were getting most of the attention while other guests were overlooked. When it came time to pay, the check was handwritten instead of a proper receipt. I handed my credit card to the waitress, and after several minutes passed, I started wondering where it was. When she finally came back, she handed me the check, and I had to tell her that I had already given her my credit card. It turned out my card had been given to another table across from us. Overall, the food is good, but the service was extremely disorganized and unacceptable. This experience completely changed how I feel about dining in here. read more

Ordered delivery. The pizza tasted horribly mediocre..... and the calamari appetizer was simply blah. I wanted to love it, but was very disappointed. It's kind of hard to mess up a pizza, but they've succeeded. It may definitely suit other's tastes... the pizza was cooked well and the crust was pretty good. I order from here often and have dined in as well. Its a descent size place yet you feel like your at your Italian grandmas house for Sunday dinner. The staff is friendly, the portions are large and tasty, its just a good ole Italian joint. The prices have gone up noticeably. What used to be affordable is now a bit pricy. So, its gone from a once a week to a rare treat but doesn't disappoint. Thank you for always including good bread. Eat in or take out. Old school Italian. It's becoming the Sunday night place for a family dinner. It's not fancy but it is consistently good. I haven't tried their pizza but their pork chops, shrimp dishes and every entree has been tasty. Great bread, a carafe of Chianti and Gorgonzola salad are recommended. Frank the waiter has been there for decades and provides good service and speaks something like six languages. If you aren't looking for fancy Italian this is a solid choice. read more

As long time frequenters of Italia and big fans of Frank, we decided on dinner here tonight. Our experience was not as expected at all. While the waitress was sweet, it was obvious she was busy. Each course had something missing, with dinner being the biggest problem. Three of four dinners came out and we waited and waited for at least 15 mins. We had to send someone to find someone to follow up on the fourth dish. We tried to explain our frustrations to the manager/owner and were met with an attitude and possibly some of the worst costumer service we've ever experienced. We will not be returning. read more

Nothing to write home about. The place looked very Italian authentic. I asked for quick service and got it. Ordered a chicken scorsese. Tasted exactly like the chicken marsala from my university dining hall (which isn't necessarily bad). The waiter explained to me that the difference between scorsese and marsala is that scorsese is more spicy. Overall an average restaurant. Manager came over when the bus boy was asked to take some glasses and said "you have a waitress for that" and he walked away without removing one glass himself. glasses were on the table the rest of the meal. - Kitchen ate some of our cake without asking... who does that? absolutely terrible. The food was terrific! They make their own bread and it is delicious! Evertithing is made in house, no canned sauce! We had spaghetti with meat sauce & meatballs. My husband had spaghetti with sauage. Both were superb. For dessert (which we didn't need but enjoyed anyway) we had regular tiramisu & lemon tiramisu, again delicious! Let me start out saying the food that wasn't cold was very good. Pizza seemed like it had been left out since the morning, chicken parm wedge was luke warm, pasta the same. Called ahead to ask about sodas, placed order to Diet Pepsi and Sprite, received a Diet Pepsi and regular no sprite. I'm waiting for them to bring a new one but it's too late at this point, dinners already done. I really wanted to give this place a chance; came in with high hopes because the reviews were decent and we were looking to experience an Italian restaurant in Norwalk we have yet to visit. Unfortunately was a sour disappointment; Right from the get-go as we asked for 2 cranberry juices, the drinks came back from the bar and were completely tasteless pale red-colored water that didn't even look like cranberry juice distributed from the bar-soda gun: their Bruschetta is nothing more than their house bread, toasted with cut baby tomato, chopped garlic and drizzled balsamic. It was something you would expect from a roadway diner but not an Italian restaurant. Being an Italian cook myself, the most important starting materials are your cooking oil, and the quality of your garlic and vegetables. Their cooking oil is sub-par and tasted nothing like olive oil and more like motor oil as a background taste to all the food we had, which included a side of broccoli rabe (overcooked and salty with little taste), and my puttanesca sauce on my penne, which had to be by far the worst tasting puttanesca I have ever had. My wife got a meatball with her ravioli which was dry and tasteless, seemingly cooked from frozen with freezer burn. Did not taste fresh by any means. Her ravioli were decent to their credit and their marinara sauce was equally satisfactory. This place has been around for quite a while and seems to be well loved, but due to the poor quality of our food experience we will not be returning. read more

Have been to Italia once before and the server and food was good. Having visited many Italian restaurants over the years my special was very good the last time however others complained there's was ok at best. Gave it a second chance - bday celebration - and was expecting a nice night & good food. Have to say with proper expectations was extremely disappointed. Appetizers were plain while entrees were mediocre "at best". All three entrees went unfinished while my son had the pizza that he enjoyed. The waitress appeared to be over her head given she only had one table. Asked about wines was brought over two bottles an told to choose one. Not a wine snob she knew zero about each nor frankly appeared to not care. She disappeared for most of the night and left my son and 86 year old mom with an empty glass of water and soda ever after attempts to ask for more. Went to the men's room and was greeted with chairs as well as an empty mop and bucket. Hope they regain that magic as is noted in the reviews. Was a complete disappointment and not worth the price. Rarely if ever give negative reviews however this night was a total disappointment- was celebrating my bday with family. I felt bad since I selected the restaurant. read more

Love this place !! Adele and Frank are SO nice and they're fast, professional, and warm. Usually come with the boyfriend's family and they know customers by heart. Shorted part of the order on delivery, the two pizzas that made it were both cold (delivery was 20 min late, guessing someone drove around for a long while..), and one was burnt. Took a half hour to redeliver rest of the order. So: 1) Slow delivery with cold pizza's (we live 10 min away at most) 2) One burnt to the point half was inedible 3) Screwed up order - requiring long wait to fix Three strikes on one order.... they are OUT! read more

The pizza was delicious and the crust was crunchy yet fluffy. You can dine outside in the parking lot area. I ran in for 4 slices. He had five left so he just said I'll give you all of them. There wasn't any waters in the the fridge so he pointed me to the pile stacked againt the window. When I asked for a cup of ice he pulled out a cold one from the freezer behind the counter. I found that odd, why wouldn't he offer that to begin with. Anyway, everyone in the kitchen wore a mask and the price was reasonable. read more

If you blink you may miss Italia, it looks like an unassuming store front in a small strip mall. But, once you find it, it is worth it. This was a last minute pick up take out joint for us. Long day at work and decided hot and fresh food would be a better option than anything else in the area. The Yelp reviews were good so we gave it a go. Portions were definitely healthy and everything came with garlic bread. I couldn't finish mine so there was definitely room for two meals. Next we'll try the pizza or some other option as we both ordered the chicken parm this time....way to plan! All in all not a bad mom and pop type joint for some good heartly Italian food! read more

I really do not like this place. I think it is cool that it is a family business, the ambiance if you dine in is pretty inviting, it feels like an Italian home. That however is where it ends. The take out is horrible. One time they had me wait over an hour and a half for a pizza to be done. Just one pizza! The pizza isn't anything spectacular either. Very middle of the road. All of their food is pretty middle of the road to be honest. My family likes this place, but I just don't get the appeal. The prices on regular dishes like pasta and veal parm are very high. The portions of the meat are very small and the food takes a very long time to come out. The parking lot is also horrible. There is very little parking and it is difficult to get in and out. There is no light so turning left is a nightmare. If you want some good Italian food I would suggest going somewhere else. read more

Italia is a very nice "old style" Italian restaurant owned by real paisans for many decades and has held it's place even through the pandemic. Last night it was fairly busy (a "Monday" nite!). I had Pork Calabrese (pork, peppers and onions) and my wife had Eggplant Parmigiana. Both of us had "excellent" Salads and Garlic Bread! Italia is authentic and throughout all the many years, has consistently turned out really good Italian food (including pizza).... Attitude from wrong orders sucks. Charges 6$ for a soggy side salad when I ordered the same thing I always do and it was wrong. Baked cheese ravioli comes with a side salad and the manager doesn't know how to spell. I was patient and did come back because the food is good but the attitudes suck at this establishment. Beware if you order because they don't get it right 60% of the time. I always tip good but why would I go back when the female manager doesn't admit her fault. So for 5 ravioli and this salad (not even filled all the way) plus tip I gave him 25$. read more

I needed a main course for the dinner party I was hosting and didn't want to spend too much time in the kitchen away from my guests. So, I ordered half a tray of chicken Marsala. It was just perfect! Everyone loved it. It fed 9 people with plenty extra for another time. They even told me what temperature (300) I should keep it warm at in the oven before serving it.
