And what I got seem to be an out of the box, undercooked, pepperoni cheese, pizza. Now,I just spent weeks traveling all around northern Italy, eating pizzas, and this was by far the worst pizza. I've had better pizza from Aldi's Now, I rarely give a one star rating, unless it's truly deserved. When I asked the waiter, if this was a Davola pizza, he just shrugged it off and said yes. You need to do better! Now, the good part... The restaurant itself is cute, laid-back, and just off the beaten path. My friends had seafood pasta, which they said it was OK to good. I didn't dare try it. Overall, you get the one star. My only one star in Italy on this trip.. congratulations.

The Primi or first course of grilled octopus and a creamy polenta in sauce were delicious. The secondi dishes of ravioli in truffle sauce, pasta with guniciale and seafood with pasta were also delicious. The grilled veg were firm and a nice addition to the pastas. I had the spaghetti as my entree and I wanted it because I believe it's one of the most simple pasta dishes and I hadn't had it yet and this was day 6 in Italy. Hostaria did not disappoint. Was greeted, immediately seated, and provided a cover of focaccia and a flat bread of only 1-2mm thick with a tomato/basil consistency. Delightful. Waiter smiled at my attempt at Italian and helped me through the evening with both Italian and English switching. I'm a barbarian and appreciated their patience. Ordered (1) "Sardines in Saor" for my antipasti/appetizer and their take on (2) Duck cutlets for the primi/main course. ***Dessert is unpublished online, but they have Tiramisu, a cheesecake, biscotti con crema, and a (3) chocolate mousse with Limoncello crema on top (I had this). They also have a solid selection of coffees and dessert drinks. (1) If you're adventurous and like a hint of sweet and sour, definitely go for the Sardines in Saor. If you're typically not a big sardine fan, know that they aren't nearly as briney or fishy as they are in oil or salted. Because they were fried in a light flour batter and wrapped up with pine nuts & raisins within a sautéed onion (and refrigerated overnight) it was more mellow and sweet with that slight hint of sardine. Imagine a taste similar to a fried oyster with onion + fig jam. It's served chilled and it's good. Do it. (2) They adjusted the duck's ingredients to go with a creamy cheese/watermelon accompaniment instead of the menu's coffee puree. The sweet & savory combo was perfect for a summer night. It was unique and very good. (3) The milk chocolate mousse with limoncello cream was a nice dish. Small, ideal portion that gives you a taste of the sweet decadence without loading you up with sugar. We had this at many places throughout Italy, and this was the best execution of it - Duck breast & leg, with coffee puree, cooked perfectly medium rare. And a .375ml bottle of their white house wine, which turned out to be a good pairing with the seafood. Both dishes were excellent! Plenty of Vongole (clams) in the pasta dish, Spaghetti were perfectly cooked. Vongole were nice and fresh and the dish perfectly spiced (not too much, which is good). A real highlight definitely the Crudo di Mare. Two langoustines (so nice and sweet flavour), two red shrimp. scallops, tuna, swordfish, oysters and tuna tartare. All fresh, all tasty. An excellent mix of wonderful fish and seafood. Quality wise along on top with the best ones we've had so far (we love Crudo di Mare). And all is nicely presented. Really made our day, this meal here. After the meal we even got some aperitif on the house. A wonderful place. Feels very relaxed, lots of great items on the menu. The bruschetta was light and refreshing, the bread was soft & perfect. We each got a different lunch pasta, but both were fantastic. The spicy shrimp pasta I ordered was top tier and one of the best meals I have had on our Italian trip. It was slightly spicy, plenty of fresh shrimp and the presentation was too notch.
