For those of you…read moreconcerned about how the practice is handling appts, here's the news: Once you make an appt, you get an email with a form to complete and bring with you and a confirmation with instructions for your appt. They are asking you to call once you're in the parking lot. I waited near the door (not hovering over it) and Dr Leggin came out to bring me inside. She took my temp right away, took my form and asked me to use hand sanitizer. I went into the exam room where she explained everything that was disinfected and what was being used. She washed her hands before starting the exam and used hand sanitizer quite frequently. She remained double masked the entire time and took the time to talk through some questions and comments during the appointment. Once done, I checked out with the front desk, which is partially covered with plexiglass except for a small opening to pass through paperwork and payment. The person at the front desk was also masked and there were signs posted about the guidance they're following. My appt was on a Wednesday and my contacts and glasses are expected to arrive the following Monday. Overall, a solid appt. Peace of mind knowing these are the steps being taken for an eye appt. She is not able to see the same volume of patients due to all the extra steps needed. I lucked out getting an appt just a few days from calling. She is dedicating an hour per patient to allow time for those extra steps (disinfecting, taking temp, asking to to use hand sanitizer, etc). Parking is easy as there's a dedicated shared parking lot for the area she's located (behind old man rafferty's).

I have since returned to this practice, specifically Dr. Ehrlich. He is professional, caring and makes you feel comfortable. Read on for the details. After the exam, I was whisked into the section with the glasses and was coerced into picking out very expensive frames that were barely covered by my insurance. It felt like a money grab. The markup on plastic frames is ludicrous. The frames that my insurance covers were piled in a bucket that I would have to pick through while the expensive frames were nicely displayed. I found out that I could get a lot more for what my insurance covers at Costco. I could have gotten 2 pairs at Costco for what I paid at the doctor for one pair. I called to cancel my glasses order and they said "it's too late." They placed the order an hour before I called. I hardly think they were grinding the lenses at that point. I got my glasses and I noticed that one of my eyes didn't feel right. I went back to see if the problem could be figured out. Long story short, Dr. Timko barely did anything to assess the problem and when I asked her to check the glasses against the prescription, she was *very* dismissive and said "We do that when the glasses come in." I went back to my regular eye doctor to see if he could help me figure out the problem. Turns out the eye that felt weird had a prescription lens that was stronger than what she wrote. I was right. If only she had the courtesy to check the glasses like I asked her to. I do not like being dismissed- I would imagine no one does. I called to let them know about this and they offered me nothing. I asked them to take the glasses back and reverse the insurance claim. They gave me credit for the glasses. A week later, when I went to purchase my glasses elsewhere, I found out that they never reversed the claim. I called them immediately from the optician's, and they assured me they would call insurance right away. TWENTY minutes later, I called back and they said they got busy. I told them this was supposed to be done a week ago and they said "it's a complicated process". They are liars, VSP is one of the easiest companies to work with. I had to pay full price for my glasses because of Timko's INEPTITUDE. I filed a grievance with my insurance company. She absolutely should not receive a DIME from insurance. I do not trust them with my eyes. This place has ZERO accountability, the doctor is very arrogant, they are liars, and they don't follow through. I do not recommend.

Dr. Timko expertly and accurately diagnosed my issue in less than 10 minutes. I walked out the same day with a pair of contact lenses that completely corrected my vision problem. It was that easy! The staff is friendly and courteous, and I love the decor inside her new location in Somerville. I had such a great experience on my first visit that I came back a second time with my 9 yo daughter, who ended up needing her first pair of glasses and walked away with a very cute pair that she was excited about. Good opportunity to shop local and support a woman-owned small business. Highly recommended!

I never completed my exam without knowing all the details. Dr. Brian Rosenblatt retuned about 2 years or so ago and I felt dismissed, uninformed, and what's worse is that during my exam he took his mask off and had it off for a while during COVID-19. last year, because I declined the two aggressive attempts at upselling other services when getting…read moremy eye exam, I was rewarded with a glass prescription that I had filled at Costco that left me with a pair of progressives that were terrible for driving, and downright unusable for walking down a city street. I could barely read with them. After bringing in my prescription glasses to have Tom at Pearle graciously try to adjust them, I simply gave up and accepted the fact that they were unusable. One year later I brought those glasses to Costco to have the doctor there give me a new prescription for which I would use the frames I had bought the year before. When she compared the prescription that she had come up with with the one that had been given by the doctor at Pearle vision she shook her head. They were very dissimilar, and I happen to know that my eyes have not deteriorated in a year. Because after I deemed my Peare vision prescription glasses were unusable, I simply went to the dollar store to get a 2.5 pair of readers for driving and a 3.5 pair for reading. The short version now is that with my new prescription from the very attentive and competent eye doctor at Costco I have a pair of glasses that work like a charm, that required no adjustment. The exam was fully covered, and the lenses fabulously priced. This office is simply a money factory, and I do not recommend them in the least.
