Hugo is the man to come visit at CJ'S. My boyfriend had been going to him for some time, and as of lately my granny has joined the fan club! The entire shop is a very "niche" spot, I haven't had any interaction with the other barbers- but they seem to be quality. What they do well: treat their clientele well, hire quality staff, the owner seems to be a great owner- and sets the tempo by example. They have easy parking, lots of chairs to wait in, and what you care about most, you leave looking handsome, clean, put together, and ready for your hot date! Just a place to cut your hair, chat a bit and leave. But that's totally okay with me! I got a lot of compliments from friends of my haircut. This place is great! I sat down with Chaney for my first visit to CJ's after reading some good reviews, and it sounding like the kind of place that I like to go get my haircut. He did a great job - took his time getting the fade and lines just right, and my hair looks outstanding! Conversation at the shop is open and friendly like any good barber shop, and everybody working the clippers there is relaxed but professional. Talented too - every customer i saw came out looking sharp. The only two downsides that I might take away half a star for is a long wait, as this is a walk-in only place that is very good, so you might have to sit a little bit before they can get to you. I think I spent an hour and a half total there myself (at 10:30 on a Tuesday!). Second, typical to a lot of barber shops, there's no hair wash included, so you're going to come out with some hair around your neck and ears. All that said, the price is great for the quality cut you get here, and I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

Brought my son in today. He's been going through some hard times and looked every bit of it. CJ was amazing. My son has an anxiety disorder and wasn't smiling at all. But CJ's place has a cool and relaxed vibe. As the cut and shave proceeded, slowly my son came back to life and was actually smiling, opened his eyes and even chucked a little at the friendly banter and jokes between the barbers. I'm grateful to have found a real barber and a true professional. I think it makes a world of difference for a man to be among men in a barber shop verses young to a beauty salon. Another thing I noticed while there; these barbers are ARTISTS. Every man I saw came away looking like a GQ cover model. I'm impressed and can see why his business has flourished for so long. Haircut was mediocre and SLOW. Shop was far too loud, blaring hip hop music from a speaker right in front of me. The barber tried to make small talk, but I couldn't hear it. Despite not seeing it posted anywhere, the barber didn't take credit cards. How do you expect to run a cash-only business these days? I had to go to the bank to get cash. I just got one of the best skin fade of my life from Tracy Nelson at CJ's. Before we started, he made sure he understood what I wanted and even showed me some photos as examples. I couldn't be happier about my cut. This is a classic barbershop with confident and professional staff in an unpretentious and relaxed setting. If there is a wait, it's short, and prices are cheap. There's an ATM inside and they accept cards. A couple TVs on the wall, soul music and light banter just added to the experience. read more

Unfortunately despite the other reviews, my husband's experience here wasn't the best. The cut is a basic undercut with a close fade. The fade was uneven with lines of where the different trimmer lengths were applied. Requested for the fade at the bottom to be as close as possible without straight razor and it was very long still. There were random long hairs left throughout, along with long hair left all around the ears. The longer hair of the undercut wasn't touched at all, meaning no cutting/trimming and no touching it to move it out of the way to get the fade even where it meets the longer hair. The pros of this place was the friendliness, atmosphere, and quickness of time in the barber chair, but that should be accompanied with a complete haircut too. As we are new to town, it's a shame that we will have to look elsewhere for the next cut. read more

Lucky enough to find this place with the help of a review by yelper Rodriquez C. I use to have to drive all the way into Seattle to get a decent cut, but now I can just drive 5 minutes to this unassuming barber shop in Lynnwood! Straight out of a movie entitled Barbershop the guys that work here are friendly, funny and get into engaging conversation about sports, women and world issues with a sense of good humor. The shop is clean, has great magazines to look through (you won't find National Enquirer here), and the best thing, they know how to cut hair! I asked for a buzz cut with fades in the back and sides and my barber went to work meticulously adjusting, snipping, and checking now and then that all looked good - and it did! I was impressed and will return. So if you want a nice style that won't break the bank (I paid $17 with $5 tip) this is the place! read more

Went in for the first time last Sunday. Guy there had four or five people in line before me, he cuts hair quick and effectively I was surprised. He even stayed after closing time to finish my cut and the guy after me. Most places charge $35-$40 for my hair cut he only charged me $27 (but I tipped well haha). I recommend you try this place if you're looking for a barber you will get hooked I am. I'm planning on coming down tomorrow to get touched up. Hope this review helps!
