The lagoon has lots of tropical fish and is fairly shallow where you can stand in most of the spots. Decent amount of beach sand area to lay out your towels and catch some sun.

We went in July and we paid $30 each for the day of rainbow reef. Once you pay, you can come and go throughout the open hours (10am-3pm). You don't need a specific time slot. You go to the booth and they give you equipment to use (snorkel mask, breathing tube, and life vest). You then shower off and head into the reef. The water of the reef is 76 degrees, which actually felt pretty chilly, but you get used to the temperature pretty quickly. I did notice a lot of kiddos didn't want to go in because it was too cold for them. My niece was crying because of the cold, but the employees all went over and beyond to make her feel comfortable and help her. She ended up doing a lap in the reef and then heading to the jacuzzi lol The rainbow reef was cool, but we felt that $30 each for the day was pretty pricy. We only swam once and felt like we checked the box.

The obstacle course was a ton of fun, we took advantage of the other water activities too, and we also opted to get a couple cabanas too so we could all hang out. It was perfect for our group of 20. Some of the restaurants were closed the day we went, but the takeout food at The Lookout was delicious. We also enjoyed some cold beverages too. BTW, the Nalo Lounge is a great option for $25/person if you want to store your belonging and take a shower before heading to your ext destination. For local families, take advantage of the kamaaina rates. The family is already excited about going back when the kids are back home this summer.

My daughter wanted to come to the obstacle course with her friends. We showed up at 4pm on a Friday, they said the girls can't swim because they close at 430pm. We decided to come back at 1:30pm the next day to arrive and be told the entire place is booked for a private event. Don't waste your time. Go beach.

To be honest, I didn't even know it was a class. I thought they would give us bows and let us go. Instead the instructors taught us the basics of the bow and how it's a weapon first. They taught us bow safety, stance and everything in between on how to improve our shot. We moved around to different targets and tried different target sizes and elevations. My girlfriend is right handed and was having a hard time shooting with her right hand. The instructor was so keen that he noticed my girlfriend was predominantly using her left eye and suggested using a left handed bow. When she tried again with the lefty, she greatly improved her accuracy. That was really impressive. These instructors are very passionate about archery and will teach anybody who's willing to learn. Even the enthusiasts who come to practice are very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new.

If you are already wearing glasses the plastic 7-D glasses can be a bit cumbersome, also the visual was a bit weird, i found myself having to squint at times to see more clearly. I wish they have those mounted 3-D eye goggles. With the bowling alley & the Archade out of commision, tis the only fun left in Ala Moana Center.

I can teach my daughter too, but after a few minutes she goofs off and just doesn't take me too seriously. I found the perfect solution! At Planet Preschool, Tamara Jenkins, who's been a preschool teacher for 15 years. You might better know her as the "Kindergarten Coach." As of almost a year, she decided to open up her own preschool in her own home. She transformed her lower floor of her Kapolei home into a full fledged preschool. Her methods are to learn through play. Children will do art, play, sing with a specific curriculum in mind, so kids don't realize their learning because they're essentially playing. Genius idea! Mrs. Jenkins believes each child is different and thus learns at a different pace so she guides her teaching specific to each child's pace. If one child already knows her ABC's, then there's no need to waste a ton of time on it, so she'll move on to reading for that particular child. Her goal is to prepare your child for kindergarten but won't stop there. If your child wants to read or beyond, Mrs. Jenkins will take your child as far as your child wants to go. Currently she's got about 5 students in each class, so there's plenty of one on one time for each child. Each class will have a maximum of 10 students. You have a choice of either Tues and Thurs classes, Mon, Wed, and Fri classes, or daily classes. All classes start at 9am or 12:30pm. She's thinking about starting an afternoon class. I believe she's also starting a Kinderjam, a mommy and me class that incorporates "fun, exciting, and high-energy Music and Movement program that emphasizes the kinesthetic and tactile learning of pre-academic skills and concepts while promoting positive parent engagement." I was so desperate to find a preschool program that's not a daycare and not a parent participation preschool that was affordable. I feel so fortunate that I've finally found it! School tuition is about to increase a bit unless you enroll by May. Still affordable, but every bit of savings count. Because she's holding classes at her own home, that's why she can afford to offer classes such a low tuition rate. She's licensed so there's no need to worry. She doesn't have the fancy computers or traditional workbooks of typical preschool, but she makes it work. Check it out!

A school with airplanes and nice grass strips by the beach! What i enjoyed most aside from my amazing flight training with my instructor was my cross country to Maui, Molokai, Lihue, and Lanai! Haven is the best investment this company has made and she is patient and so knowledgable. I love how she always picks the best weather to fly in, and i feel that safety is definitely a priority. George's aviation took me from .9 hours (I had previously had a discovery flight with a different…read morecompany) to private pilot in less than 50 days and that includes the check-ride. I was in Hawaii for work on a 50 day temporary assignment. I wanted to get in a flight or two while in Hawaii just to see the sights. Once I went up, I was hooked. George mentioned that he thought I could solo in Hawaii if I worked hard. Well, I got to solo at around three weeks. When that happened, George mentioned that I might be able to finish my PPL before I left the island. I thought he was crazy, but HE made it happen! George along with the rest of the team at George's Aviation treated me like family. I spent a lot of time with these folks and it never felt transactional. As a matter of fact, I'd have to ask them to pay so my bill wouldn't be so large at any given time! I got to know them very well and they got to know me. They all had a vested interest in my future as a pilot and I spent time outside the hanger with several of them going to dinner, sporting events and other local places having a great time! I was able to make some great friends while in Honolulu - especially at George's Aviation. George has several planes to choose from. He has everything from a six pack Cessna 150 for the budget conscious pilot all the way up to a nearly new Cirrus SR-20. I chose to fly in the newer Cessna 172S equipped with the G1000. He has three to choose from, so I never had to wait on a plane to be available. His maintenance staff is on-site and are constantly working to keep each plane airworthy and safe. Again, I never had to wait for a plane while in maintenance. I made several trips to check out his maintenance shop over the 50 days I was there and I can say that I trust the planes being worked on by George's Aviation to be safe and dependable. Now, back to the instructors. I had about five instructors helping me along the way, with two main instructors ensuring I was able to fly as often as my schedule allowed. These people worked day and night to ensure that I was safe and proficient. I had three instructors with me the night before my check-ride to make sure I was fully prepared. I was also able to knock out my high performance endorsement while I was in town also. I can't recommend George's Aviation enough. Thanks so much to George and Donna, along with Bianca and Spencer for making my dreams a reality. On this visit, there was one definite item on my list of things to do...and that was to go soaring! As a power and glider pilot, I've been lucky enough to be exposed and get training under various conditions. But the one condition that has always eluded me was ridge soaring. But here on Oahu (in particular, Dillingham Airfield) ridge soaring is fairly predictable and common. On a scouting drive to the airport, I met up with Brian who courteously gave me all the information I needed to set up a lesson in the following days. He stayed in touch with me by phone as minor changes detoured our arrangement slightly. Arriving at the airport a few days later, I got to watch sailplane operations...both winch and aerotow. Brian next introduced me to the flight instructor that would accompany me on my flight..."JJ." After the standard discussion about my piloting experience, JJ and I were buckled in and ready for our winch launch in a Grob103. Now most of my glider experience is through winch launching. But when I was told they typically winch to just 900 ft, I was a little skeptical as that is the altitude I'd usually be at when preparing to land. But this is their turf and I completely trusted in their professionalism and expertise. Releasing at 1100 ft (we got a little extra altitude), JJ had me bee-line directly for the ridge on the south side of the runway...and just like that...lift! So up we went! After just a couple passes up and down the ridge line, we'd gained just over a 1000 ft of altitude. With altitude, we could now extend our soaring range along the ridge. On this particular day, we found some really strong lift and some sink as well. But we worked a couple areas that had really strong lift and eventually made it up to 3800 ft. Besides seeing a few other sailplanes, you get a spectacular view of the coastline that stretches north (AKA North Shore)....waves as far as the eye can see! We also spotted a few whales breaching and making big splashes just off shore. But for me, the real beauty is awesome views in all directions...like the large windmills in the distance and clouds right above you. Even the green treeline on the ridge we soared above was a true sight to see from the air. Seeing everything from the air, is just better in my book! Of all the things I did on my vacation to Oahu, this tops my list of fun things I did! As we flew, I had numerous questions about ridge soaring which JJ promptly answered and explained. It was great to meet and fly with people that knew the game so well. If you are ever on Oahu, I'd strongly suggest you take a ride with HGSA. If you're a pilot too, take a formal lesson...you might be amazed at what you can learn from the unique conditions this area offers. Much thanks...Brian and JJ! What a great experience - my first with a charter flight…read more A group of us chartered a plane to Kalaupapa to tour the peninsula. I did not book the flight, so I can't speak to that process, but our experience from airport to airport and back again was excellent. There isn't a big sign for Pacific Air Charters, but the building is clearly marked with the address, so we knew we were in the right place. Lots of parking out front on a Saturday morning, even though the spaces are not all striped. Lucy met us and escorted us up to the office and restrooms. We hung out with complimentary tea/coffee while our pilot finished up his final checks. She was very gracious and welcoming. Lucy then escorted us down to the aircraft, and I was pleasantly surprised - twin-engine Piper Super Chieftain. Some in our group were a little nervous about such a small aircraft but it was a lot nicer than some commercial planes I've been on. No TSA theatre, no lines. Our pilot came out to greet us - his name was Ace and he was a total Captain-Sully type. Very professional and left me feeling like we were in capable hands. He did a quick safety briefing for us, then placed us row by row for weight and balance. Every seat had headphones, which was good for noise reduction, but aviation geeks will enjoy listening to the radio communications with the tower and other aircraft. We had a quick taxi and takeoff, and we had such a smooth ride. Visibility got worse later in the day with vog, which was a bummer, but we even got to chase a couple whales in the morning on our way over to Kalaupapa. Fast flight - 25 minutes, max. Ace hung out at the airport while we did our tour, which was surprising; I figured he'd run back to Honolulu or at least go topside Molokai. But, when we were finished that afternoon, we did a repeat safety briefing, sat back in our assigned seats, trundled down the runway and we were off. We had a lot of sea-breeze convection and lightning over Oahu, but it wasn't a problem, thankfully - we stayed out to sea and came in from over the water instead of a town-side approach. The headsets were a bit static-y on the return, I suspect as a result of the weather, so I couldn't hear as well. An overall great experience. We filled the plane with 9 of us, and I thought the price was very reasonable per person, considering we had charter service to an isolated airstrip. Will definitely consider them again if travels warrant!

Earlier that week, I had done another helicopter tour with another company that was more sedate but good as well. The day b4 my flight back to the states, I decided to give Magnum a try. I was looking for a thrilling ride that could rival skydiving (I used to skydive many years ago). This ride gave me the thrill I was looking for. It was so fun to have the doors off, be strapped in, and hear the wind rushing by. This place is very very conscientious about safety. You watch a safety briefing on a video, etc. The ground crew takes good care of you and makes sure you are strapped in well, etc. Our pilot was Josh and he made the whole trip fun. He was an excellent pilot, took us to see all the important sights, and had great banter with the passengers. You can tell he is very experienced with piloting a helicopter and very safe too. Feeling the wind blow in your face, mussing up your hair as you fly around was a lot of fun. We could bring our phones with us to take pics and videos but they had to be in a plastic bag case tethered to our wrist (case and tether is available for rent or purchase). Magnum Helicopters is also based upon the Magnum PI show. The helicopter is painted in those colors and there is a Ferrari that one can sit in (in the waiting area) and gets pics in. I am hoping to come back to Oahu later this year so I can visit the other islands. If I do, I'll be sure to come back to Magnum Helicopters to get another thrilling ride
