Walked in on a recent weekday afternoon and it was near empty. The bartender was attentive and friendly. They quickly took my drink order and brought the fresh house made tortilla chips and salsa. The tortillas were so good. Order a BBQ bacon burger. Great burger. Highlighted by the rib cut on the sandwich. Great service good food.

Sadly the bowls are smaller and they didn't offer to refill. We ordered steak and chicken fajitas for two. Good quality meat very tasty and of course sizzling hot as it arrived. As has always been the case not enough tortillas for all the stuff we had to order more. Second batch came with 3 tortillas even though we are a party of two. LoL third tortilla order was for a single tortilla. Go figure. Sadly only a small bit of rice and no beans I used to love those beans! Still love their fajitas but the price has gone up... $87 tax and tip -- I ordered one beer and we had no apps. Service was pretty good and all workers were friendly and helpful all night.

The calamari was wonderful again. And we ordered the tetrazzini with chicken and the Jose's pasta, both of which were huge and delicious. So far, we are two of two, and look forward to our next visit

Never fails, whatever the soup of the day is, it will leave a good taste in your mouth. My husband and I normally share 1 bowl serving, and always, a fantastic start. Full rack ribs is a prime selection too. Only at $17.99 and you will experience both available flavor. Pasta is a yummy selection too. They have a short list selection, a must try for your next visits. Service: Good service, with ample smiley staffs. Serve the food in a good considerable time. Ambiance: Changes depending on the season. Now at winter time, everyone is indoors only. Very casual setting, and noise level is pretty high. Summary: Will recommend if you are looking for a casual dining, reasonably priced, satisfactory food taste and minimal wait only.

Make sure you make reservations, you're gonna need them. The vibes inside are beautiful, it's dark with some great earthy decor as their ambience. They have a gorgeous bar that you can glance at, and get very excited because their drinks are divine. The weight staff is super friendly, very efficient and very attentive. We started with the Agua Chile - kind of a funner take on your standard ceviche with some gorgeous shrimp and that sauce is drinkable. Esquites were extra fun with asparagus and corn, so it gave some extra dimension to the vegetable bites and different textures as we kind of bid into it and as you can see in the picture just covered in cheese extremely good. I have to say the Tetela was one of my favorite bites, just the attention to detail on the brazing of the carrot with the lovely tortilla/masa combination, truly worth it. We also got the fish with the two different salsas and that was such a divine bite and it made it more exciting that you were essentially getting a two and one. The fish was extremely flaky, but with a stunning grilled to it. Overall amazing. The deserts were both delicious but I would go back for the Pan De Elote everytime... I mean this is how corn should be spotlighted and celebrated. It was a gorgeous meal, with flavors that make my tastebuds dance with every bite. Vecino is here to stay!

I have been trying Mexican restaurants all over the U.S. and no where compares to vecino and to think I found my favorite in Detroit amazes me. It truly is worth every penny. For what to order: All their appetizers are great. We usually switch it up and are satisfied with each one that we've ordered. The Totopos with salsa are a must and their guac is great as well. For mains- the asada del día is our go to. It is always cooked to perfection and comes with fresh tortillas. And it is hard for me to come by a tortilla in the U.S. that I enjoy. But here, they are excellent. They import their corn from Mexico and you can tell. This is served with bone marrow and some garlic onion spread that goes great on the taco. For dessert- their tres leches is amazing. The coconut cream pairs so well with the cake. I could eat like 10 of them. As if it's not obvious at this point vecino is my favorite restaurant in Detroit and one of my tops in the world. I will not be surprised if they are the first ones in Detroit to secure the Michelin star
