I had a very positive experience at this Resort. Front desk staff are not the friendliest but everyone else is. The resort is Clean, Comfortable and Safe. Food is the same as any other all inclusive resort. I didn't like the fact that you only get 1 specialty restaurant option every 3 days. Also the all inclusive drinks is confusing. Every employee had something different to say about it. I would recommend booking directly through the resort to get better perks. Entertainment is the best! The deserve 10 stars! I stayed at the Barcelo this past week as a premium guest and it looks like they've improved things over the past years. The buffet breakfast is good and the room service options were too. I'd steer away from the pool bar buffet since that wasn't the best lunch. The basic drinks aren't the greatest but if you have premium, you can ask for better quality alcohol which makes a big difference. The Mexican restaurant on site for dinner options is pretty good and the service is good. Everyone was really accommodating during my stay so I have no complaints about service. They also have free non motorized sports available. I got good use of the sauna and steam room. read more

I stayed at the Barcelo huatulco and I had to write this review to warn others that are currently booked to come here next. 1. Front desk service is very slow and they are understaffed. Also the staff is very robotic in the information and answers they give, meaning that they have no personality and will not accommodate most basic requests. Also, it seems that their staff is not coordinated because each different person may give you a different answer of questions you might have. 2. Their resort is outdated in the sense that they still use room keys as cards and every other time, the card will not work, so then you have to go back to the front desk ever time to get it resolved, this means that you have to stand in line for some time, every time, this occurs. 3. The rooms are clean though the mini bar does not get refilled even if you ask them to tefill it. 4. Food, the buffet is very limited and average, nothing too great. Note: if you tip, you get better service at the restaurants( this shouldn't be but it is what it is). The waiters only speak Spanish and do not always understand spanish that is spoken in other regions, for example I speak a different tone of Spanish but I use proper words and in occasions they do not understand what I am telling them. The restaurant reservations are extremely limited since they only offer what they want to give you and not what you request. This was very odd because when we were eating in one of the restaurants one night, there were hardly any other guests around. Less than 50% capacity Their COVID policies and regulations do not make sense, since they are strict with some things that shouldn't be while they overlook other things that should be of concern. Beware: the pools here are filthy, I did not see anyone ever cleaning and testing the water for cleanliness. I attached a photo of the water and tile from the pool, note that there is residue and garbage in the water and the tile is green from algae. 5. The money exchange here at barcelo is a mess, Note: they will not take your dollars if they see and tear or blemish on them. 6. Overall, the resort is ok but I am giving it only two stars for now because of the lack of staffing and limited options on foods and activities. read more

It's a nice place , the food is the best I've had in many resorts . Highly recommend you upgrade into a premium if you're gonna drink alcohol . We upgraded stood in an ocean from t room 352. The only bad thing is most there activities are closed due to Covid . There animation team is not the best not many activities . We danced more at the Bahia tour than the 8 days in this resort . Where to start... The wifi is one of the worst I've seen. Even writing this review is a pain (perhaps that's the reason of the spotty wifi ?) Every day you have to make a line to enter the two only understaffed restaurants. Then after getting a table assigned you have to make a second line to ask someone to serve you the buffet, it is the most insane system I have seen. Either let people serve the buffer of have enough waiters. Today it was 30 minutes to get an omelet done. The kids club is closed due to covid regulations, but of course they don't tell you that on the website. The kids pool is closed until 10am. In the said pool a human feces was spotted. The personal only removed it and didn't care about it again. The is no lifeguard on duties. Toilet in room is so outdated that needs to be grabbed . This hotel is a disgrace for the Barcelo family. For one no music at the pool, we brought our own speaker and the life guard came to us and said we could only play music 12-5 pm Like what Pool shuts down music at 5 pm we actually had all the guest ask we turn it up or keep it playing it. So respectfully we followed the rules and then the life guard said we had to turn it down. For heaven sakes it's just music And then to top off our trip Friday night the lobby bar closed at 1130 for an "event" more guest were upset about this they were sending everyone to a wedding event bar like how awful is that? And how is them having an event my problem I paid for all the services and couldn't enjoy them. Very displeased in the stay had I known all of the restrictions and events going on before my stay I wouldn't have stayed here. Oh and you have to wear a mask for all restaurants. With all-inclusive food and drinks (domestic) this hotel is geared more towards to the price sensitive vacationer. The free buffets are okay, but if you want a real meal venture into town and avoid what is provided. The rooms are clean and the beds, linen, and television are new. However, the complex itself could do with a remodel to bring it up-to-date especially in the bathrooms. The crowd here are the less adventurous types, and the hotel itself has more of a a Club Med vibe designed to keep visitors busy on the grounds of the resort than promote the local businesses of the surrounding town. Authentic experiences will not be had and employees, although helpful, are less adept at helping guests discover new opportunities for adventure in the Oaxacan countryside than at other more upscale hotels in the area. If you're looking for free alcohol, free food, and a show at the on-site theater then this is your place. read more

We were having a great time until we got rejected at their restaurant because we didn't have pants? Really, this place is not luxury so not sure what the deal is. To make it worst, we saw other locals going in with shorts, so I guess they just make exceptions for whoever they want. Had to settle for terrible tepenyaki buffet . It's MX, nobody needs tepenyaki. Room keys stop working, lights go out, restroom doors get stuck ‍. Thought we'd be back, but never again. So many better places to visit and better experiences read more

I was stayed at Barcelo for a weekend surf trip. I decided to stay at an all inclusive so I would not have to worry about finding restaurants to eat at between surf sessions. I booked with the promise of three restaurants on site as well as a five star buffet. I find this deceptive for these reasons. 1) There was only one restaurant open per night (even on the weekends) 2) Reservations were required for the restaurant and we were forced to eat at the buffet the first day because we had not made reservations before we arrived 3) The buffet was TERRIBLE we left the resort several times to find food in town due to limited restaurant availability 4) When I woke up early to surf I would try to grab fruit or a small snack from the buffet and was chased out for not wearing proper attire or reserving a table 5) Unlike Dreams or Secrets room service costs extra 6) The surf spot we drove to was thirty minutes away and the staff refused to even give us extra water bottles 7) Warm beer...need I say more? An all inclusive is based on the premises of convenience and easy access to food and beverage. This resort failed to meet both of these standards. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the rooms were clean and the kitchen manager was extremely knowledgable. When we were able to eat at the restaurant the food was good. read more

The employees categorize visitors. Paid for "ALL" inclusive but was limited to certain drinks like no canned beer or liquor etc.. found a live scorpion hanging above us on the ceiling in the middle of the night. The Room flooded completely on a day it rained for just a few min. Our luggage and some belongings where damaged. Construction next to pool started at 6am and ended at 11pm. Horrible service if you arent Caucasian or Canadian employees confessed to this. Rooms are Partial ocean view. read more

Excellent hotel.. if you've got kids! I wouldn't recommend it as a single person or a couple. Super touristy and there's really nowhere but your room that you can get some peace and quiet. Sunrises are gorgeous tho. Good place if you wanna party and drink. Food in the buffets are good but everyday it's pretty much the same choices. read more

First of all I have to come out and say that they have horrible horrible customer service and are very rude..The food in the buffet was not 5 stars as it says. The building needs a remodeling for sure. I went with my 17 year old daughter expecting we could do everything together like go to the gym but not even that and we are some gym junkies..she had to wear a "kids wristband" which meant she couldn't do much things which was unbelievable. We thought this was a our dream hotel but we knew we should've went to dreams resort which is an exceptional resort if I may say. WOW this place is Amazing, we have a great time, 5 people 2 rooms all inclusive I don't need to pay for Drinks, kids can eat anything, anytime, the bar in our rooms has beers ,sodas water and snacks, All our diners was delicious, the Spanish and Italian was our favorites, the stuff super nice and work really hard to make you happy, all day activities in the pool area, good drinks.
