After being locked up in the house for the pandemic, I was super excited to get out of the house and pick a Christmas tree. We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2020 when the opened. This was my first experience getting a real Christmas tree and I was super excited and ready to chop down my own tree and haul it back home. That would have been $65. We drove an hour to get there. But when I got there, I was a bit disappointed with their selection on the actual farm. They were all like 4 feet tall and very rounded out on the bottom. They had cut down all the nice looking trees and put them out for sale for $90. We walked around and decided to just buy the nice looking one that was pre-cut for $90. The tree was 8 feet tall Frazier fir and they were able to trim it down to around 7 for me. The staff wrapped it all up and placed it in my car and helped my friend tie hers to the rack of her car. Staff were all super nice and helpful with the tree. They sell tree stands but I would highly recommend investing in the Genie Christmas tree stand that you can buy online so you don't have to worry about screwing the tree in properly. Otherwise they were selling tree stands for $40/45 I think. Bring cash! I would have given 4 stars if I found nicer looking trees on the actual farm. Our favorite place to cut down our own tree. Always a large selection of trees, that stay full and green past Christmas. We got a Douglas Fir this year and looking forward to enjoying it for the holiday and after. Everyone is very friendly & helpful with wrapping the tree and loading it into our car. They are not use to Black People and made us a small black family with our black dog lol, feel very uncomfortable. Not a family friendly tree farm. No hot cocoa, no hayrides, no nothing!!! Also, Tree selection is the worse. I was tempted to leave without a Tree but my daughter really wanted one. Avoid this tree farm if you want a great experience!!! read more

I'm disappointed by all the negative reviews when I saw so many smiling families today. I've been going to Barclays farm for years. The farm has been owned and cared for by the Barclay's family for generations. With 6 fields of trees of all different sizes, variety and species it's impossible not to find a desirable tree. Additionally, they have the most reasonable prices in the area . You can go to a parking lot and pick a pre cut tree from Canada for twice as much $$, that will die in a week and lose all its needles OR start a family tradition and experience the trill of hunting down and cutting your own perfect Christmas tree. Barclay's Tree Farm is such a friendly, festive and laid back environment. What's not to love about it! Beautiful trees over acres of well maintained property and the option to chop your Christmas Tree yourself. I have never been let down by their selection. Not only is their selection vast but their pricing on their trees is very affordable. I love the option they have to tag a tree if you are not ready to bring it home that same day. As well as the friendly staff they have which assist in securing your tree to your car for transport home. Let me be clear when I say, with zero exaggeration, that this was the BEST Christmas tree fetching experience I have ever had in my 27 years (and the rest of my experiences have been up north in Sussex County, which is ALWAYS good). We arrived and were immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who asked if we were looking for a particular type of tree. I said Fraser Fir, and he recommended the best parts of the property to look, and then looked through every hack saw they had hanging to pick the newest blade to give us (and holy crap he was right, it took less than 10 passes to cut through the tree). We scampered off toward the back area (behind the apple trees) into what can only be described as a beautiful winter wonderland. Even for late in the tree getting season (we went today-12/15), the selection was vast and all the trees were full, beautiful and healthy. Within a few minutes I spotted the perfect tree and the boy chopped it down. Usually we take turns with the saw but like I said, the blade cut through like butter and the tree fell before I could even snap a picture! Upon carrying it back to the front area, another staff member greeted us, took it out of our hands immediately, wrapped it and handed it off to another gentleman who put it on the car and tied it up. This entire exchange took about 90 seconds. Further, the guy tying it to the car explained that it was a Fraser Fir, suggested the best ways to care for it, and noted its perks over other types of trees. Everyone was SO friendly and happy to help, and we left squealing like little kids on Christmas Eve. We've already resolved to return next year, despite the fact that we will be living over an hour away and back up in Sussex County, which is a part of the state that literally has more Christmas trees than people. What's not to love about walking around acres of trees with a hacksaw considering which one would look perfect near the hearth? NOTHING. Barclay's is friendly, festive, and low pressure-- I just wish all of my Christmas purchases were so fun and pleasant. This is a wonderful place to find the perfect Christmas tree. Pick from Douglas fir, Frasier fir, Norway spruce and Blue spruce. We picked a Blue spruce this year. Pick and cut your own or get one of the guys to help you. Fantastic place to start a family tradition, just like we did several years ago. The crew here is very friendly and helpful. We've taken some great family pictures. Very kid friendly with lots of laughing and excitement. read more

First time at Barclays and will definitely be back next year! Acres of trees to choose from and they also had a bunch of pre-cut ones. Opted to go for the experience and cut one ourselves. They let us take the top 7 feet off of a 15 foot tree and they only charged us for buying a small tree! Win win left with a beautiful tree and they also wrap them and tie them to the car. Called this morning to ask if they had Concolor firs available for "cut your own" and the size. Spoke to a guy who "has been directly in the fields". Was told they have a large selection in the variety and size we wanted. Packed the family in the car for the hr and 15 min drive. NOT one tree meet the criteria and the guys on the farm sent us in two totally different directions to come up with absolutely nothing. The trees have not been given any love whatsoever. This place really does little to maintain the trees. I have cut my off tree down in 5 different states and must say this is the worst one I have been to. There are other farms in NJ that do a much better job. Don't waste your time here, you'll be quite disappointed. read more

Not only the best trees but also the best service, their knowledge and help picking out, cutting down and loading up your tree you can't ask for more!
