Jimmy probably has some Austin Powers toys, if memory serves me right. Jimmy has a lot of awesome toys and if you like many different brands, characters, styles of figures, you're gonna spend a while going Back In Time, in Gastonia, NC. Nestled in the cute, revitalizing old town Gastonia, I recently had the fortune of visiting this sweet shop celebrating the start of its second year in business and met proprietor Jimmy, who, despite what the amazing Transformers stock suggests, loves the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles most of all. Don't worry, there are plenty of mutants and turtles, and mutants who are turtles. There are also mutant X-Men, the non-mutant hero Spider-Man, and just about any action figure line you can think of from yesteryear through today. I spent about an hour perusing shelves and displays, coveting so much, but reminding myself about budgets and living spaces, so I couldn't go crazy, and stuck with some sweet Micro Machine rides (I love the one that reminds me of the GI Joe Alley Viper, along with Darkseid, and finishing off my joy with a rendition of Mr. Freeze from a show I've never seem. He just looked so cool, I couldn't pass that figure by, dropping the last of my cash on Jimmy's counter. When you decide to go Back In Time, do at at Jimmy's shop. Meet the owner. Talk toy passions. Find a few packaged or loose figures, or both, and maybe some Hot Wheels or Matchbox cards. Grab an exclusive figure you can't find elsewhere. In business for ten months (if I remember details correctly), Red has a great thing going on, and I hope to visit and make some purchases again. The shop is cozy and not overflowing with a disorganized mess of toys, despite the fact he could probably squeeze more product in there. There are several display cases with some of my favorite toy lines, such as Exo-Squad, Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so much more, with tons of great toys and action figures from the 1980s through today, and likely with some older vintage toys as well. He's got eclectic lines such as Germs (1988). There are packaged figures and loose figures bagged up, GI Joe, Star Wars, Marvel Legends, DC Superheroes, and so much more, to varying degrees of completeness. From what I could tell, prices are reasonable and competitive. Red has got video games and systems too. VHS! There are some good dollar comic books, which I partook in while also finding a fun LEGO insert catalog I missed out on during my "dark ages." There's a little free box where I got my Wizard of Oz-loving friend a great little Tin Man. I wanted to dig out one or two more things, but didn't want to be greedy, but there is some great stuff in there! I also witnessed Red being super awesome with a father and his young kid, finding some Captain America items to make that kid's day! That's some great service from someone who not only loves having this store, but also loves the sense of joy and wonder he can create within the community of collectors and players young and old. Heck, I called on a Tuesday (one of his closed days) and he answered to let me know his hours for the week--customer service can't exceed that quality! If you make it to the Charlotte, NC area, be sure to stop by Red Genesis, and consider dropping some green.

you wanna race? go here... zippy road course, banked tri- and regular-ovals, plus straight line…read moreracing to check your reaction time. super friendly racers and helpful staff and a fully stocked parts counter that's way overwhelming for a newbie but I'll figure out the lingo and get over myself soon enough and achieve a sort of normalcy if not fluency in tech-talk. while I was running laps solo on the road course trying to figure out the whole gas-gas-brake-gas thing to not fly off in the turns some serious high speed racing was happening on the high banked oval... I think it was NASCAR and trucks going fast and loud with only a little bit of crashing. pretty sure the format is total laps over time and everyone has to run on each lane. crazy fast cuz it's wide open all the way and hopefully the car sticks except when it's supposed to slide. meanwhile on the flat track it's all practice practice practice.
