*** In Response to Owner Comment: I sincerely appreciate that the owner, Jessica, contacted me about my experience at her business. I also appreciate that she tried to get to the bottom of my experience at her salon so she could fix it. This is good stuff. However, I did indeed visit this salon twice. I condensed the two visits into one review for simplicity sake. I communicated to Jessica that I first visited summer of 2013, and again the following summer. She has a record of my first visit, but not of my second. I wish I could explain why there isn't a record of my second visit. I certainly remember the visit as this is the one in which the comments were made. I assured her that I was indeed there again this past summer. I guess she doesn't believe me, and that's fine. She doesn't have to. However, I don't appreciate that she basically calls me a liar in her owner comment. If she doesn't have a record of my second visit, which is one that upset me, then who knows what happened to the money I paid. Maybe she didn't get it. This why I would feel bad accepting a refund. I have no idea what happened to her records, but I certainly did visit this salon a second time. *** I've had worse wax jobs, but I'm not sure how. The tech who waxed my legs and bikini area missed several places, especially around the knees and on the back of my calves. I am not sure what kind of wax was used, but the hair seemed to grow back abnormally fast. Considering how much I paid for the service, which is more than I have paid in Bozeman, Dallas, Albuquerque, Denver, and LA, I wasn't impressed. I also did not have a good time while I was on the waxing table. During the procedure, the tech said the prices at Grizzly reflect the cleanliness and quality of work. OK. Fine. Then she went on to say they were very clean, unlike "the dirty Asian place" in town. I felt really uncomfortable after this comment was made, and would have left if I wasn't covered in wax. She also tried to sell me more services by telling me that my chin was "full of black hair" and really needed a wax. She said, "I don't want you to go out in public looking like that." I declined further services, and ran home to see if I was sporting a black goatee. I left feeling like a werewolf, and with a bunch of race guilt for not sticking up for my Asian peeps. read more

Karma is an amazing esthetician and a great waxer. You can definitely tell that she had advanced training in eyebrow shaping because when you leave, you have perfect brows. Plus, she's so gentle, and she has such a great soothing personality, that she keeps you entertained and at ease no matter what kind of waxing you're having done (you know what I mean!). If you're looking for any kind of waxing in Missoula, she's definitely your girl. And once they start offering facials, hit her up for that too. This is the best waxing place I've ever been. They use hard wax here, which hurts WAY less than soft wax (which they also have). They care a lot about skincare and will help you with skin irritation etc. The environment is really nice and soothing. And the prices are pretty much unbeatable. I see Bekka who is seriously the nicest cosmetologist I've ever met. She is great at what she does and makes an uncomfortable process very comfortable/easy. She actually listens and pays attention to what you talk about (I can't say the same for employees at many places I've been) and she remembers your conversations. One piece of advice I have though is to leave earlier than your maps app tells you because it's hard to find at first. read more

The staff all were wearing masks and you are required to have your temp taken before your appointment. This made me feel safer about the experience during COVID. Karma's personality makes any appointment with her as relaxing as it can be. She is a very sweet person and tries to make you as comfortable as possible. Getting waxed is never fun, but she would let me know when she was about to pull (so I wouldn't be tense the ENTIRE time.) It was really hard for me to find the place, but she came out side to wait for me and stayed on the phone with me until I found the place. I can't say enough good things about The Grizzly Bare Waxing Studio. Waxing isn't something you generally think of as relaxing but this place is amazing. The wax they use is unlike any other salon I've visited. It's slightly warm and they use smaller strips to remove the wax, so you barely feel a thing. I had my eyebrows waxed and it was painless. And better yet - my eyes weren't bright red when I was finished so I could actually go out in public. I highly recommend Jessica and The Grizzly Bare for all your waxing needs. read more

Received a wax from Karee and loved the results! She is always friendly and efficient, making me feel comfortable during my appointments. She makes sure that I am happy with her work before I go, and doesn't hesitate to accommodate re-waxing spots if need be. I was in Missoula on my way to a wedding and spent a night in town. I desperately needed an eyebrow wax and didn't know the area. After searching around for a bit, I found this place. The woman was able to squeeze me in for a next-day appointment. She did a terrific job, and was even able to fit in a bikini wax (which I also really needed). She was efficient, quick, painless and talked to me the whole time. She was friendly, helpful, and even offered tips for filling in my eyebrows with a powder. From Brazilians to facial waxing, these girls are the absolute best! Karee is my go-to girl but I've heard wonderful things about the other ladies as well. The office is very cozy and inviting and the waxing room is always clean and comfortable!
