I thought the chipotle chicken sandwich tasted SO good but would've been even better with the same bread that he had for the Italian sub. We dropped into Barefoot Sandwich Shoppe on a whim and are so glad we did. The variety on the menu is impressive--there's something for everyone, whether you're after a comforting classic or something a little more unique. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and clearly made with fresh ingredients. We decided to get the cheese steak sandwich, hot dogs, grilled cheese, a veggie wrap and each had a side of their signature crispy fries! The food was so good, I didn't even get a chance to snap a photo--I dove right in and couldn't put my fork down. That alone says a lot. The staff was friendly, attentive, and created a genuinely welcoming vibe. The atmosphere was laid-back but inviting, making it a perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a great meal. They have burgers, too!! lol I stopped in today and had a half Reuben and fries. It was the best $9.75 I have ever spent. I didn't think I would like the fries because I am more of a thick fry person, but these skinny tators were cooked and seasoned perfectly Not to mention the homemade ranch dressing that I could drink like water. Customer service was very good. The food portion and quality, not so much. The fried okra and sauce were amazing. However, we ordered Reuben's. For the price, the sandwich should be substantial. My sandwich looked the size of a child's peanut butter and jelly. This is one of my favorite sandwiches, so I expected great thousand island dressing, large slices of rye bread, a thick layer of meat and melted Swiss cheese to cover it all. Truly a five star experience -all around! We stopped in at this quaint sandwich shoppe on our way from South Carolina to Virginia, and were blown away! The owner, Bo, came up and greeted my party of 8 warmly and made sure everyone was well taken care of--and quickly! When I asked if he had gluten-free options we could consider for my son-who has a severe wheat allergy-he graciously apologized that he didn't, but immediately went into problem-solving mode when he looked at my eager, smiling 4-year old. He came up with a yummy bread-free meal option that was a HIT with my little boy! He even ensured that his staff would employ a food-allergy preparation protocol just to be extra safe. I was so grateful! Now, aside from the delicious sandwiches and homemade sauces, the atmosphere was a wonderful family vibe! Everything was clean and well organized. Lots of cute southern charm to enjoy--ceiling fans, a fenced garden, and an adjacent farmers market to boot!However, let's not glaze over the food ratings too quickly. We tried several items on the menu and each one was a winner! Their BBQ sandwich is a juicy, flavorful must-try! Their burger and cheesesteak are sure to please a wide variety of beef connoisseurs. This was a really tasty lunch and the staff was so friendly. I'm a fan of paninis and took the recommendation by the staff to get the steak panini. My husband got the chicken pesto and we shared. Both sandwiches were nicely toasted by the panini press and had great flavors. The sides were awesome too! The fries were cut like chips but thicker and the okra had a nice light batter. Plus, the homemade chipotle ranch was delicious and great to dip. This is one of the few restaurants that had covered outdoor seating. We almost came back the next day. I stopped here while traveling for work. My coworker and I both got sandwiches and we shared some okra with ranch. The food was fantastic, especially the homemade ranch. This place was absolutely fantastic for a quick stop on a long road trip! There was a spacious outdoor covered patio area + indoor seating area, the staff was so incredibly friendly (the owner came to check on us multiple times, gave us samples of fries the bbq meat, and was just generally so lovely and welcoming!), and the food was fantastic! Prior to a hike at Singletary Lake Park, I stopped for lunch in Elizabethtown with a group of friends. We intended on eating somewhere else but that establishment wasn't following any Covid protocols at all. The hostess wasn't even wearing a mask. So we found Barefoot's online and decided to give it a try. Our entire group was glad we did. As soon as we walked in, it was obvious the owner cared about customer safety. All staff members were wearing masks, tables were socially distanced and clear plastic had been hung to protect customers at the register. The variety of menu options was far greater, and more sophisticated, than I'd expect at a sandwhich shop. The food was excellent. I'm not a "foodie" so I don't typically find food memorable. But it was memorable here. Beyond all of that, the proprietor was extremely friendly and social. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and get to know us as his customers. I live in Raleigh and while I love it here, that's definitely not an experience I've ever had here. I will absolutely be recommending this place to my friends and family and I'll definitely plan on going back the next time I'm in Elizabethtown. read more

Visited twice now. Okra is excellent but needs salt for me. Fries are tasty and consistent. Cold Italian sub was very good. Husband loved the burger. Last time I got a buffalo chicken sub, I was worried about not enough buffalo/ranch but was not disappointed. Husband got the philly which was okay but needs more cheese and would prefer cheese mixed in a bit instead of on top. Upgrade to a combo is a bit pricey. Great little place at the Farmers Market. Wife I took a ride to Elizabeth-town, decided on a late lunch and after not seeing much on 87 that runs through town, we were directed here. The staff is very well trained and professional. On ordering, we were given some solid suggestions, wife had the chicken pesto panini with a fried okra side, I had a refreshingly good Ruben with fries. Great set of sandwiches, great value. Being thanked for coming in to an establishment is getting very rare, these folks are doing it right. If we lived in Elizabethtown, could easy see coming here often.
