Honestly, I've never felt the need to leave a negative review until now, but Bargain Barn Tire Pros in Rapid City has earned it. I've given them multiple chances, and each time they've managed to drop the ball in a new, infuriating way. First off, on my most recent visit, they left a coolant hose disconnected on my truck, which led to it overheating and sitting in their shop for an extra five days. Not only did they fail to fix it promptly, but they never bothered to communicate what was going on. No calls, no updates--just radio silence while my truck sat there. To add insult to injury, a previous time I went in, they didn't even latch my hood properly. Imagine hitting the highway and having your hood fly up on you. That's not just bad service; it's downright dangerous. All in all, they've turned what should have been simple visits into a series of hassles and safety risks. I can't recommend them to anyone. I ordered a new set of tires for my pickup truck. With my appointment, I came in the next morning to have them installed. After installation, the price was $250 higher than what I had been told the previous afternoon. I paid the bill. When I inspected the tires after it was taken from the garage, I discovered that the tires installed where a different size than what I had ordered. When I spoke to the technician about it, he lied and said they had installed the ones that I had agreed upon the previous day. They need to give the purchaser a printout of the exact tire and size of what is to be installed in order to avoid any confusion. Though I have been a long-time customer of this shop 5-12 years ago, I'll never do business here again. All new people, who are very unprofessional and unorganized. read more

My truck has a problem with the fuel system so I brought my truck in to receive a fuel system diagnosis. I was told to leave my truck and when they did the diagnostics on the fuel system, then they would call me with the pricing. A few days later they called and said that I would need a new fuel pump and fuel filter and that it would run me for labor and parts roughly $600. They then gave me a date and time to pick up the truck. The day before my scheduled pick up, I called to get a confirmation on the date and time. This was confirmed by an employee. The confirmation of date and time was important to me because I didn't have another vehicle and would need to pay for a lyft service to drive me there. But when I arrived, I was told that the truck wasn't ready and probably wouldn't be ready until later that afternoon. I then expressed my great displeasure in the fact that I now would be forced to pay to have lyft take me back home and then bring me back again. I asked the supervisor if this extra cost would be deducted from my total cost being that it was totally the shop's fault for giving me a false confirmation time. He readily agreed. About an hour later I received another call from the shop asking me what I thought was wrong with my truck? I was stupified. This told me that they never did any real diagnostic on the truck and only guessed at the problem. More parts would be required and more money would be charged. There was a conversation were the supervisor had deducted some of the labor costs. The price dropped to $467. However, when I viewed the itemized list that I was being charged for, many of the things that I was told I wouldn't be charged for I was still being charged for. But in order not to get into a heated discussion with lying and deceitful crooks, I paid the $467 and left. Even though I had great misgivings about the honesty of their service, I thought that as long as it ran again without stalling that I would be okay. Well, a few hours later, my truck stalls again and it is showing the same symptoms. I do not know how I am going to handle trying to get the business to either fix the problem they promised they would fix and charged me for or to get a refund. Anyway, despite my path forward with this business, I felt compelled to write this review. I want people to know what kind of dishonest service Bargain Barn on Deeadwood Ave. has given me and for potential customers to BEWARE of this company and its deceitful and crooked business practices. I am truly amazed at what I just experienced at Bargain Barn Tire Pros, which is much more than just a tire shop, as the name might suggest. I'm traveling from Illinois to Californiala, moving to California with my dog. I had been stopping to see all the sights in the area in the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, and the Black Hills National Forest when my brakes started squealing, and my check engine night came on. I was too scared to continue my trip beyond the area and into more mountainous areas out west with potentially dangerous brakes, and God knows what other issue with the engine. I called almost every auto repair shop in Rapid City and finally reached Christian at Bargain Barn he, too was swamped but just didn't have it in his heart to let someone be stranded or in danger like that. He said to come in and he'd at least take a look to see if I was in danger. He welcomed my dog and u in to wait and afterwards reported to me that the brakes and rotors look good, but because my vehicle was bigger and I had driven a lot through the hills, they had just gotten hot with all that braking and the pads could benefit from getting sanded is all, but that there was no danger. He also informed time the engine light was simply on because the system didn't detect the key fob so it was a security thing and he was able to turn it off for me. I was so appreciatove and asked what do I owe them, and they said there was no charge. He and Darryl even went I to advise me on additional sights I should go see before leaving town. Overall I am astounded that people and business with this kind of compassion and integrity even still exist out there. Sorry to burst any bubbles but we were grossly disappointed in our visit here. All we wanted was an oil change for our Dodge diesel. Yes we wanted filters changed but at home in California we never paid more than $130 for the same service. This shop charged $254 and it took an hour and a half. Needless to say we will NEVER return here. We just became SD residents but we'll be looking for another shop in the future. Had bargain barn tire pros replace all rotors and brake pads, as well as an 'overall inspection' for $20 extra. Total was $958. They took it for a 'test drive' and my gas was noticably lower and the truck was dirty, obviously taking it on a back road. Within a week my brakes were squealing and squeaking, so I contacted them for a 1 hour appointment for them to review the noise. My truck sat there for an hour, no one looked at it. I informed them my appointment came and went and I received no service, they apologized and said to keep the truck there so they could 'review' it. I received a call about 2 hours later and they told me they test drove it 2x and could hear NO NOISE at all. I had a strange pit in my stomach as I knew they were lying to me, when I came back to pick up my vehicle, it was in the exact same place where I parked it at noon during my initial 'noise appointment'. They simply did not want to bother to look at it and felt as though lying to me about the noise would get me out the door. Won't be back. They were very kind when I dropped my car off and were even able to look at additional issues I had with my vehicle. This was all on a weekend. We needed to replace a pair of tires on our camping trailer after travelling to Alaska and back. We passed through Rapid City on our way home to Florida and Bargain Barn Tire Center was the only place we found that carried our tires in stock. They got the job done for us quickly and efficiently, but the story didn't end there. Two days later, we were travelling through Kentucky when one of the new tires blew out and completely shredded. I contacted Bargain Barn, and they immediately said they would make it right. We sent photos, followed by the remains of the tire once we got home. They sent us a check for the cost of our tire, the installation, and extra in case we had to pay more to replace it. I don't know how many businesses would do this when you are just a stranger passing through, but I can't say enough good things about the great support we received from Bargain Barn. read more

We were on vacation in the Black Hills. Our first morning there we woke up to a flat tire and a bent rim. They told us to come right over, fixed the tire, rim and switched out the spare with the new tire.Customer service was awesome as was the price! I had the misfortune of going to this location because of low pressure in one of my tires which turned out to be a nail. Then discovered there was a second tire that had a bubble due to a bent wheel. I thought I was initially going in for a simple tire repair but was so scared into buying a set of expensive tires, I didn't feel I could even safely drive down the road a few miles to shop a competitors tire prices. Once the expensive new tires were on my car, I was assured by an employee they could order a used wheel to replace the bent one from a salvage yard and this would take a few days. A few days turned into a week and I called to find out the status of the used wheel where I was told that it was still on order. It took another week before they received said wheel. During these couple of weeks, my car had a rear vibration and wobbling feeling that I hadn't experienced previously. I went back weeks later to have the bent wheel replaced and the tires were rebalanced. I was still feeling the vibration and wobbling in the rear of the vehicle so went in a third time for yet another balancing of the expensive tires. Since then, my car hasn't driven right and I didn't feel like I was being treated honestly by this shop after three trips there. I recently went to a competitor for an oil change and had them check the rear tires. The bent wheel was still on the right rear of my car! I left there and immediately went back to Bargain Barn Tires for a fourth time and was furious. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I spoke with the manager who took my keys, drove my car into one of their bays and proceeded to work on the rear wheel and tire yet again. This whole time, not explaining what was happening, how long it was going to take or anything. This only added to my complete frustration of the situation! Finally, the manager came back and admitted his employee(s) never installed the non bent wheel to my car. The manager gave me a refund of $80 for the hassle which is appreciated but I think only happened because there were other customers in the store and he felt forced to do something. I am now stuck with expensive tires, with a warranty and any service to the life of the tires has to be performed by them which I'm not at all comfortable with. I highly advise against doing business with this location for what I have dealt with. It has been a complete nightmare dealing with this for months. read more

First I took my car in for an alignment turns out I needed to get a few parts that were unexpected. That's not a big deal , when I found out the part would be in on Friday I wanted to schedule a Saturday to bring it in. The guy said "don't worry about it we will get you in no problems!" (My first mistake was taking his word for it) when I got there Saturday I was told they had short staff and it's have to wait till Monday! (Not good since I told them I was driving out of town Sunday). Next they installed a front drive shaft for me... the entire drive to the half way point was 50 mph the car sounded terrible and was grinding . I pulled into a shop in Lusk and the guys showed me the drive shaft was loose and close to completely ruining my transfer case. I was lucky to not have had an accident. They didn't even tighten the pinion and crush sleeve. After leaving the shop in Lusk I had no problems!! If you have anything aftermarket done to your vehicle dont trust that they know how to work on it . I'd go to BHT Instead. read more

I used to like going to Bargain Barn for all my car needs. I have not been back since February 2018, due to the over charge of my vehicle. I went in for a tune up and ended up with $130 service fee, when they only changed 4 spark plugs, nothing else just the FOUR spark plugs. That's the second time that has happened to me there, the time before was with another car I do not own anymore, and was told by the mechanic who bought it from me, that all it needed was a tune up :/ when I just got one there 3 months before I sold it. Recently got another tune up, from another shop, they changed everything and checked everything, only cost me $75, that includes the service fee for the mechanic. I gave the benefit of the doubt for the second time taking my car there, now I will never return to bargain barn. read more

These guys do whatever you want them to. You can bring in your own tires and they will mount them without being jerks. Same goes if you bring in your own mufflers or cat converters. Been going there for over 15 years and never unsatisfied. Not once!!!! read more

They got me right in, invited the kids to watch them patch the tire and when there was a hiccup in the process of patching the tire, replaced the tire at the same price. They made an oil change and tire rotation very easy! Even gave us a ride to a restaurant and picked us up so we didn't have to wait there!

Always had good service here. They have installed front and rear wiper blades for free, just paid for the blades. They also reprogrammed my tire pressure monitoring system for free when it got cold and my pressures went too low. I put more air in but the sensors wouldn't read properly. Everything needs a special tool or handheld device to fix these days. read more
