Travelling from MN on vacation with my wife. By the time we got to Rapid City my brake pads were gone and were grinding metal on metal. I was very stressed not wanting to drive around Rushmore and Needles Hwy with no brake pads and figuring I wouldn't be able to get the van into a shop for at least a day or two. Also, not knowing the area I was worried about getting over charged because I was in a tight spot. I saw that CJ's had good reviews and opened earlier than any other shop. I was there at 720 the morning after getting to town. They got me in immediately and had my van fixed up with new pads and rotors in about an hour and for less than I paid at my usual shop back home! Took my 1982 Corvette to these guys to have them figure out the engine surging problem. Another shop recommended this shop, I was told they had experience with older cars. In addition I asked them to replace the oil pan gasket. That's an easy job, no diagnostic needed, easy money for them. The surge in the engine created a low rpm and check engine light would come on, AR would also stall out at low rpm also. When I picked up the car, the bill was $450 and the car warmed up but had a rough idle, engine light didn't come on. The next day I started the car cold and it waz idling at 400 rpm and the idle was so rough I could see the car shaking. They replaced a few valves said it was running good. They told me the oil pan wasn't leaking so they didn't replace it. I asked them to replace the pan gasket and they wouldn't do it. They had no idea how to fix the idle problem and should've just told me they couldn't fix it. They replaced parts charged me $450 and the prob!em is worse than when I took it in. Tried calling but had to leave a message about the problem. They didn't return my call. Going to another shop to undo the problem they caused and go from there. If you need your oil changed this is the place, the guys are very friendly and polite read more

We we're spending a few days in Rapid City on our RV trip. Thought our starter had gone out with very little warning. Called for a Good Sam tow and looked for a repair shop. Called CJ's and spoke to Cecil. He said he could replace the starter today (first miracle) and gave us options on price. When we arrived they dropped everything to work on our truck. About 30 minutes later the truck is running. Cecil came in and said it was just a couple of the bolts holding the starter on that came out. He replaced them and $56 later we are on the road. Even gave us a military discount. We highly recommend CJ's! They not only accommodated us by working on us right away, but also did only what was needed. Our Jeep Grand Cherokee was leaking oil and making some pitchy sounds so we drove from Ellsworth AFB (30 min) to CJ's where we stopped by and explained what was going on. They immediately took a break and offered to drive our vehicle to get a better idea of the issue. We rode about 1.5 miles just make sure to pinpoint the possibilities. Upon returning to the shop they pulled it in to the garage stall to test his assessment, which unfortunately was not the culprit. They apologized immediately and set us up for an appt in a few days. We dropped off the car bright and early and even brought breakfast. We figured it would take awhile so we went to run errands thinking we'd get a call in the afternoon. Nope! About two hrs after dropping it off we were told that they found the issue but needed to order the part and it would take 2-3 days because of the holiday (Labor Day). I returned to pick it up and pay for the diagnosis but was told that they don't charge for that. (Mind Blown!). We took the vehicle home and received a call within a day and a half and were scheduled for repair a few days later. Work was thorough, mechanics were super friendly/approachable and down to earth (unlike some shops that look down on those of us who are not mechanically inclined). Overall a great experience!! We took our 1999 Jeep to CJs to get it fixed since someone recommended it. We thought it was a head gasket. They said it was something else. After $900 in repair it was still overheating. They said bring it right in and they would get right to it. 3 days later we finally got ahold of them and they said it was the head gasket. We never would have fixed it in the first place if we had any idea the repairs were that extensive. They did not fix original repairs in a timely fashion and we felt we were taken advantage of. read more

When my mom had a problem with her car and had to have it towed, I asked the tow truck driver if he knew of a reliable mechanic in the area. He recommended CJs. Sometimes you might not know if they get paid or kickbacks to refer customers but this time, he was on point! CJs fixed my moms car fast and for an extremely great price. No games. So when I had issues with my car I went there myself. Another great experience. They are good people that were very honest and don't overcharge.
