This seems to be the only charitable thrift store on island. They are busy constantly and understandably so. Inside, they are very clean and organized. All items are clearly marked and tagged. There are signs indicating the various categories of clothing, etc. They have a number of designer handbags and accessories as well as clothing. The designer things are not cheap. The bric a brac, household and kitchen stuff, and the decorative items are where the real bargains are. Prices are quite low and well worth a walk through to explore. This is a good place to visit on a cloudy day or when you're out and about taking a break from the beach. If you're into thrift stores, add this one to your list.

The Bargain Basket was established in 1975 and it is the nonprofit arm of the United Church of Marco Island. It is the largest thrift shop on Marco Island. Proceeds from the thrift store supports the charities of the United Church of Marco Island and local and global missions. The Bargain Basket is run by over 100 volunteers and it sells what is donated by the community. Parking is limited out front but they have more parking in the rear of the store. Due to Covid they are limiting the number of people in the store right now but the line to get in wasn't very long. Once inside I was impressed by the size of the store. They had three rooms full of furniture, appliances, household goods, clothing and accessories, craft items, books, and toys. Everything was clean and organized. The prices all seemed very reasonable and I saw some interesting items. This store is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

There is a VERY small parking lot in the front of the building, but it's too tight for me.

Donated items are given to individuals and families in the community in need and profits are distributed through the church charities. They have also partnered with 30 local Collier County charities including Neighborhood Health Clinic, Healthcare Network of SW Florida, Meals of Hope, Baby Basics, Echo, Dental Outreach, Grace Place, Literacy Volunteers, and Habitat for Humanity. I was pleasantly surprised to see the store was much larger than I thought it would be from the outside. Several rooms are filled with gently used furniture, a ladies boutique with name brand and designer clothing, accessories, men's clothes, children's clothes, jewelry, art, holiday decorations, books, and more. Prices were great and I loved the selection of like new merchandise. The volunteers were so friendly. Furniture prices are negotiable and they were having an additional sale on select items. Hours are rather limited, they are only open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10-3 so it makes it difficult to shop here if you have to work more traditional 9 to 5 weekday work hours. In any case I am glad that I finally got to stop in and support the great work that they do for this community.

While shopping, I observed multiple staff members who were restocking merchandise openly discussing, in front of customers, how they were removing the "good" items from the sales floor to take to the back and set aside in personal piles for one another. This was spoken about loudly and casually, as if it were standard practice. While doing so, these same employees repeatedly stepped directly in front of me and physically pushed past me to access racks I was actively browsing. This occurred multiple times and created an uncomfortable and disrespectful situation. The combination of staff hoarding merchandise for personal use and physically disregarding customers reflects a serious lapse in professionalism and store oversight. Customers should not be displaced or made uncomfortable so that staff can reserve merchandise for themselves. This behavior undermines trust, fairness, and the integrity of the store's operations, and leadership should be made aware.

It is in mint condition with glass table, 6 chairs and a gorgeous curio, as well as a beautiful octagon rug only 5 months old. It broke my heart to give this set up, but I had no room in my new house for this set. We secured a date and confirmed and reconfirmed more than once. They were to pick the set up today 11/12/24. My window of arrival time was 1 to 3 PM. They were informed more than once that we were MOVING to Central Florida tomorrow 11/13/24 and that this pick up was essential. Well low and behold at 2:30 PM , just 1/2 hour before the end of their "window" we received a call that they would NOT be able to pick up our dining room set until next TUESDAY! I reminded them that were moving the next day and they just kept repeating that they could not pick it up today and had to reschedule next week. NOW I have to leave the set in my home and will have to pay a FINE to the new owners because of it. All because I decided to do the charitable thing and donate it instead of selling it online, which I could have EASILY done. What made it worse was their attitude, no sympathy, no apology. Awful. PLEASE reconsider where you donate your things. I can't speak for all the Habitat locations but certainly can speak for the HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF COLLIER COUNTY. SHAME ON Y OU!!!!!
