Barista's is a great place for a quick bite and some good coffee and blended drinks. Don't come here for just coffee. This is a place for all those lattes and fraps you love. Loud atmosphere so don't come here for a study session. Barista's is best for a sit down with a couple friends or a great spot to read the morning newspaper in a busy atmosphere. This is a cute artisan cafe with a plethora of beverages! My boyfriend and I drove to Tracy just for this cafe and it was the perfect destination on a rainy day in the cutesy downtown area. I am a sucker for tasteful imagery descriptions. The drink menu had flavors like orange amaretto dark chocolate mocha (for me) and Sicilian latte (for my bf). They also have the classic coffee drinks for true coffee connoisseurs (which I will return to after pregnancy!) and smoothies. I was pleased with the beverage selection. However, there was no food menu displayed, which made it difficult to know what to eat. There was a small sign near the cashier that had 3 bagel specials, but that was it. It would've been nice to see all food selections posted or at least on a menu, since they had a full-on kitchen. We ended up sharing a fresh tasty bagel with tomato and cucumber. The ambiance was busy, even on a Tuesday morning at 9am! It was a bit of a struggle to find a place to sit because of the patron volume. It's definitely a popular place! The coffee here tastes great and I love that it is a local place. However, I wish they told you their prices before you order. It is a different price every single time I go and order the same thing. Its not by cents or a dollar either. Its sometimes $3 other times its $6?? The menu is all over the place and staff can be pretty rude. I ordered a coffee and was asked to tip and staff will give you a side eye when you don't?? For what? Ordering a coffee? My coffee wasnt even ready. Its a nice place to have in town. I didn't rate them for those great attributes. I rated them for the taste of the coffee. It rated only 3 stars and I guess that's because in my opinion no one can equal Starbucks Pikes Place Roast. Let's be honest, every coffee place is practically the same, so it's the little extras that push the rating of a coffee joint in one direction or the other. This place is by far the best one in all of Tracy and this is why. -Excellent customer service. The owners are usually there to help serve you with a staff of extremely energetic people who seem happy to work there. They are actually the same people who used to own Dreyer's Ice Cream in the mall years ago. -Toasted Bagels. The toasted bagels are extraordinarily good. -Cleanliness. I have never seen anything that I would even remotely call dirty in this place. I'm not really sure how they keep it so clean -Atmosphere. It's a comfortable place to sit. It's places like this that really make you appreciate having local knowledge. I don't know why it took me so long to try this coffee shop out. I've always heard good things about it. I was a little early to my hair appt last month, so decided to get an iced coffee on a hot day. I walk in and immediately am greeted with "hellos" and smiles. The person at the counter was super friendly and quick to take my order. I got an iced white mocha. I was not disappointed. It's safe to say that it was probably the best one I've ever had. Hands down. Not too sweet and the flavor was just right. I wish I worked closer or didn't have to leave at the butt crack of dawn to get to work in Palo Alto. Here in Tracy needing coffee while my brother has surgery. Nurse at the Hospital recommends Barista's. I am pleased. The joint is jumping at 9:30 on a Thursday morning, but the staff is moving the line through quickly. My small latte with an extra shot is right up and delicious. Well made and piping hot. The croissant is good. Not great, but good. The service is spectacular. The staff is efficient, friendly and cheerful. And despite the crowds passing through, the place is kept clean. Makes me wish I came to Tracy more often than once every 40 years or so. read more

Just over two years ago, I stepped into this small coffee shop, not knowing what adventure I was about to start. Thirty minutes later the owner and I shook hands, and I was to begin working the following week. Two years of hard work, miss communications, sweat, disappointments, conflicts, and struggles accompanied by many laughs, embarrassing moments, great talks, friendly customers, hugs, and many many smiles, has lead me to where I am now. I cannot say how grateful I am to have been chosen by "boss" (as I've always refer to Hus) and Nini to be their new Barista that February evening. The many great customers I got to know personally, the complex art of coffee making, the extremely hard working owners (Hus and Nini), the fun loving and crazy crews I've worked with, and all the life skills I've learned, this was definitely the best 'stepping stone' (as boss refers to Barista's) I could have taken. Barista's is more than just a coffee shop with great coffee, It's a family with many great friends. Thanks crew! Customers! And my bosses for giving me two great years to push me to do my best! Tried their toasted almond and caramel sensation drinks and both were amazing! They have a great selection of pastries. We tried two different ones and both were delicious. Their prices are very decent considering their drinks actually taste like coffee and not just milk like other places! Overall, we had a great experience here and will be come. read more

This place is phenomenal! While they can't tell you who their roaster is, (Because it's a secret) they do sell their beans. After my third visit, their staff was greeting me by name and knew what I wanted! (I only visit about once a week due to my work schedule.) And from what I've read about them, this is not exclusive to me. They are the only place in any of the surrounding communities that have as many sugar-free flavors as they do. As a diabetic, this of great value to me. I used to be a huge fan of Peet's Coffee until I came across Barista's. Their beans have a different flavor I love, a quality I've never experienced before. The environment is calm and inviting and you get free Wi-Fi no matter what device you have. If I could come here more often, this would be my "Cheers." My favorite drink: Large "Skinny" Snowflake. It's very similar to a white chocolate mocha, but they put a few roasted beans inside when they blend it up. I love the texture and caffeine of chewing some beans in this beverage. I will often get a ham & cheese croissant (warmed with the cheese melted) and my wife loves their spinach quiche by the slice. This place makes me feel like a VIP, every time. read more

The drinks are excellent, the prices are what you might expect. You might think that this is the case, as the line is often out the door. The selection of coffee ready in the vacuum containers is excellent. There are plenty of attentive, energetic people behind the counter, and service is always quick. You will often find yourself in line behind someone ordering 4 or more drinks and pastry to take back to work. There's hardly a pause. This place really has their ordering-fufillment system down. Most coffee places, including the franchises, could learn from them. The place is too noisy to relax and talk, hence the four stars rather than five. read more

I've decided to update my review now that there is a new owner. I love Barista's, but I knew it would change. The drinks and sandwiches are still yummy. The only issue I have is that it is a hit or miss to get a good drink or sandwich. This is what I've noticed: When I go in morning, my drinks and sandwich come out perfect. The way they used to be. Sometimes if I go in the afternoon, my drink taste as if some essential ingredient is missing. For example, I got a Dirty Chai Latte, only it wasn't dirty. Luckily, the barista fixed so That solved the issue. The bagel sandwich is what I usually get because it is addictive, memorable, and down-right mouth watering. Before, the bagel sandwich was packed with enough turkey, tomato, cheese, and pesto mayo. Now, the sandwich is mostly bread with a few thin slices of turkey and one tiny slice of tomato. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich is still good, yet I can't help but feel cheaped out? Well, I'm not going to stop myself from buying it. The new owner as well as some of the staff are quite friendly and nice, so I'm gonna update my review to four stars. read more

Barista's Coffee is one of those new rarities, a privately owned coffee shop offering fairly inexpensive drinks to us typically Starbucks gulping consumers. But after you visit a coffee house like Barista's you might wonder, "Why the hell did I ever go to Starbucks?" I really enjoyed the fact that I didn't have to specify my large coffee as a "venti" I just asked for a large iced coffee, and I do recommend their ice coffee. Barista's actually makes ice out of coffee, gives you a cup of the ice, then allows you to choose a blend from about 7 choices. Refills are .50 cents more. After my first joyous, non-venti Barista's ice coffee experience, I returned almost daily, drank their coffee, and used their free wi-fi (why Starbucks, why must you charge for this? Heathens!). Oh yes, I also ate their tasty chocolate muffins and cream cheese and peppercini bagels. The staff all know my name now, and what I like and are always on the ball about customer service. So what's not to like? It can get a bit noisy during peak hours, and parking on the street sometimes means a cruise around the block until you find a spot. Not major complaints, but enough to warrant a mention. After getting used to a place like Barista's, it becomes easy to put down the likes of Starbucks. Starbucks is OK for what it is, a chain coffee shop. You know what you get when you go there, and they are like a virus and can be found on nearly every street corner. So there's consistency. But, imagine if those same places were populated by individual coffee shops like Barista's. Free wi-fi as far as the eye could see, great service, and unique personalities. read more

This ain't no Starbuck's...this place is 100x BETTER! I kinda wish it was a chain and not just a privately-owned coffee shop, since I live in San Jose. But whenever I'm in Tracy, I am always going to stop in to get me some yummy coffee. My favorite is a drink called the Truffle Raspberry - very tasty. Their Latte and Mocha are both very good. The other gourmet stuff listed sounds good too, so I'm going to have to experiment and let you all know. You're going to have to try their toasted bagel and croissant sandwhices. SO GOOD, that I eat it slow to savour the flavor! The baristas are all friendly, the atmosphere is pretty open and chill. I like! The only thing that it's closed on Sundays. boo. But the owners deserve a day off, since they are there every day. So I understand... =) read more

This family owned Coffee Shop in the midst of Downtown Tracy, not only has delicious coffee but has one of the friendliest staffs. I'm personally not a big fan of coffee but when I do choose to have a cup this is my go-to. I usually get their White Mocha Latte, a classic. Even though I haven't experimented with their menu, I've never failed to hear amazing things about their coffee. Did I mention this is also a great place to have meetings, study sessions, and hangouts. The seatings go all the way out to the side of the coffee shop which makes it great for some privacy. I believe it was one of the the owners (not sure) that got back to me about their Madelines and corrected me about the price they are .75 not 2 bucks. However, I have been charged $2 maybe someone new working there and was not sure of the price... lets just leave it at that. Barista's was my favorite coffee shop for years. During the last couple years that I've moved away from Tracy, it was acquired by new ownership, and the drastic decline in experience is disappointing. The shop's draws used to be many, but especially excellent customer service, quick service even when they were packed, and great coffee. All of that has changed, especially the level of service. The two or three times I've been since the ownership change, the staff has been unfriendly and has no sense of urgency, even when there are many people waiting. Today was the worst. We waited nearly 20 minutes for two drinks, with only one or two people ahead of us. By the time we left, the line was a dozen people long, and the ladies making the coffee were still just joking and talking to one another and casually making coffees as they felt like it. The drinks we received were both a bit off from what we ordered, but as we had already waited so long and they had so many people waiting, we just left. The old owners Hus and Nini are greatly missed, and I'm bummed that what used to me a must-visit cafe in my hometown is no longer so. read more
