I've been to this grooming salon 3 times now. The first two times were a good experience. However this last time, they shaved my labradoodle all the way down. I asked them to do the same cut they've done in the past, and this is no where near it. There was no styling around her face, it was just shaved. There was a long razor line down one of her back legs that was cut deeper than the rest of her shave. There was no shaping or styling with this cut, just shaved all the way down. Something I could have done at home and not paid over $200 for. Unfortunately I will not be returning. read more

We come here frequently because the groomers do a great job! It is a little more expensive compared to other groomers in the area but again the groomers know the cut and it's turn key with consistent results. The only cringe worthy experience, happens every single time we call, that makes coming back harder and harder... is the older woman answering the phone has major attitude and quotes new rates every time we call. She is always frazzled thought it was because she was new a while back but that theory was proven to be incorrect. read more

My dog had an appointment with Lisa for today at 10 AM, but I got a call last night at 8 PM wile I was on a Zoom class from Lisa saying that she had to cancel my dog's appointment for today at 10 AM. I asked if my dog could come in the next day to which Lisa responded that she would give him an appointment when her schedule permitted, and that she didn't know when that would be. I asked that she make his appointment a priority, since he needed to be groomed, and she responded by saying she didn't know her schedule, and I could find another groomer if I wanted to. I was appalled by this incredibly late cancellation ( 8 PM for a next day at 10 AM appointment) with no courteous response as to fitting my dog in as soon as possible, but rather an insulting "you can get another groomer" answer! Not only will I certainly find another groomer, but I thought people ought to know the lack of any courtesy and caring this owner of Bark Ave Groomers has for a customer! Unbelievable! read more

After a long convo with the groomer where we asked her not to shave our doodle at all (it's winter- it's freezing) and to just try to get some of the tangles out we got a call 15mins after we dropped her off and the groomer saying they'd have to shave her. We said no, we'll come get her, and the lady had already used the shortest setting on half of her neck. Also on her leg. She used a longer setting on one side of the neck. She didn't even explain what she had done when we picked her up. She also came out smelling terrible. Anyway, we won't be back. read more

I've taken my Cavapoo Nova here twice and I've been extremely happy with his cut both times. The price is well worth it. I'm really picky about Nova's grooming and if you have a poodle or mix poodle breed you know the struggle. Other groomers have gotten lazy and shaved my dog's body. (Worst Nightmare!) Bark Avenue kept the perfect amount of hair for the teddy bear look I asked for while still trimming his coat enough to make it more manageable. Nova also has a lot of tear stain issues and I was amazed at how clear his eyes looked when I picked him up. Other groomers have had trouble getting all of Nova's tear stains. Bark Avenue even gave Nova a little bow tie last visit and people on the street stopped me to tell me how great he looked. Again I am picky and I didn't have a single critique. I've had to take Nova to other groomers since because I live between two cities and I can't wait to bring him back to Bark Avenue. There is just no comparison! read more

First time we used BAG. Pricey, but they did a very good job and had our guy looking sharper than usual. They had times available on short notice (our regular groomer was slammed), so I appreciated BAG was able to find a spot for us. Will definitely keep them in mind for future, budget permitting. Disclaimer: I'm not sure whether BAG is any more or less than the local competition. We get our guy groomed in the suburbs, so that might explain some of the sticker shock. read more

We had a great experience at Bark Avenue - we are new to the neighborhood - just moved and very sad to leave our regular groomer and looking for someone in the area. We got lucky with a same day appointment as someone cancelled, right before a Christmas party we were hosting. Our puppy needed some extra love and Bark Avenue was able to help! I really like that their space is wide open and clean, you can see your pet as they go in and as soon as they are done -I think this helps with the little bit of anxiety our dog has before every grooming appointment. Very rude to me while attempting to make a first appointment for my dog. I first made my appointment and when I called to confirm they told me my name was not there. Then they called me a week later and told me I was there and to confirm it right then and there which caught me off guard. I did not have the time to make that decision in that moment. They called me back today and asked if I was confirming and I said I made an appointment elsewhere. The woman hung up on me abruptly. I never even made it inside so I cannot pass judgment on the service. But I will say I did not appreciate how rude the staff was to me. read more

Our family pets have been going to Lisa for almost 15 years, first as a groomer at Biscuits & Bath UWS and now as the owner of Bark Avenue. We have two high maintenance Dachshunds, both of whom have required spinal surgery (the dachshund curse) and are nervous whenever needing grooming. One of our dogs is also a rescue and was terrified of the hair dryers and buzzer- Lisa was so patient and loving. He's now absolutely fine with going in for appointments. Lisa is incredibly sensitive and understanding of pet owner's anxiety and so careful and thorough with the wonderful care she provides. We truly wouldn't trust anyone else with our fur babies, she's the best! read more

Don't take your dog to a groomer if you can't watch them! My dog was brought to Bark Avenue at E. 83rd Street - she is a tiny, sweet 4 Lb dog and she was seriously injured when She left this groomer. Her back legs are going for xrays, she can't even stand up. She's clearly in pain, something happened to my dog and whoever hurt her, better have left the country by the time I get back there. read more

We are delighted to have discovered Lisa and Bark Avenue Grooming. This cozy "doggy spa" is located down a steep staircase on W. 79th St., but the descent and climb back up are worth it! We took our almost 10-year-old golden doodle (75 lb love machine!) to Lisa for the first time yesterday, following an initial reconnaissance visit in which we introduced our dog and chatted with Lisa about her services. She listened attentively and recorded our preferences and concerns into her computer. When the big day came, our dog was cheerfully escorted to the grooming area. We were told to expect her to be done by a certain time, and sure enough, Lisa called for us to pick up our sweet-smelling and beautifully-groomed dog.
