Horrible customer service. Gross, dusty facility. Using products on my dog that broke them out badly.

DO NOT BOARD YOUR PET HERE -- NEGLIGENT AND TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE If you care even remotely about the wellbeing of your pet, do not leave them at this facility. We boarded our healthy, happy cat here for just four days, and what we got back was a traumatized animal who needed emergency medical care, he didn't even look or act like himself -- he was severely dehydrated, lethargic, not eating, not drinking, not going to the bathroom, major vomiting, and had glassy eyes. He was clearly not fed, given water, or cared for properly. Once we picked him up, alarm bells were going off and immediately I said to my partner "what's going on, what happened to him?!" And the moment we got home he was guzzling water from his water bowl, a clear sign of dehydration. We had to take him to the vet multiple times, where he received IV fluids, a steroid shot, GI meds, x-rays, and an ultrasound. The symptoms pointed to acute stress and neglect -- all developed during his short stay at this facility. When we confronted them, they clearly didn't want to hear our story. The level of "we don't care" was off the charts. The very first thing they said to us was "oh just give us the vet bill, we'll take care of it." Which raised concern - we never asked them for this. Then they said they'd try to find out info from whoever watched our cat those days, but they never followed up like they said they would. Instead, they cut us a check (which we didn't even ask for) -- just to get rid of us. No questions about what happened. No concern. No apology. Just a silent attempt to sweep this under the rug. Once they gave us a check I thought for sure the owner would reach out and ask us about our experience, but Wendy never did. One of the girls that worked there said she's not really involved in running her business (Wendy the owner lives out of state, btw). We trusted them with a member of our family, and what we got in return was negligence, evasiveness, and a massive vet bill (to be transparent, their check covered half, we spent over a thousand out of pocket b/c our cat had to go back multiple times - all worth it but wouldn't wish this on our worst enemy). This isn't just a bad review -- this is a WARNING. Do not risk your pet's health by boarding them here. Zero stars if I could. read more

So I'm a travel nurse and my Rough Collie Socks travels with me! So I have had to have several groomers for him across the country ! Finding good groomers is a challenge but finding an AMAZING groomer is almost impossible!!!! Well the impossible happened! Took Socks for his monthly bath , blowout deshedding and tidy cut ... WOW WOWS!! Socks looks amazing , smells amazing and loved it there. The shop is super clean ! The owner is sooo friendly and knowledgeable on grooming (I've run into some groomers who don't know Rough collies and it shows) We will only be in Tyler for 14 weeks but Socks will be back... and we are going to use them to board our 3 in October... Picked up my dog from 5 night boarding. was told he had a small hot spot when my husband picked up. Got him home and saw this called immediately to discuss my dog's condition and the front desk hung up on me. I called back to ask to speak to the owner and she never called me. I took my dog to our vet and he is on 3 medications and paid 144.00 for his visit. We had no communication from Bark Avenue- I attempted to call back to speak to the owner and the same woman said the owner left and was not there and I asked for owner's number to discuss what happened to my dog she hung up on me again!!! Never asked how my dog was doing please bewareyour pets deserve so much better!!!! read more

We left our 10-month-old mini Aussie at Bark Avenue on Easter Weekend. He died at the emergency vet clinic due to injuries received from being mauled at the open play time. He was left out unattended for one hour with 9 other dogs which two of those were one full pit and a mix pit. He was not neutered and a baby. He went into irreversible shock due to only one person was working and there was a delay in getting him to the clinic. Our family has been traumatized to lose our precious dog under these kinds of circumstances. He suffered greatly and we don't want this to happen to someone else. read more

Sadly. We took our pup here thinking it was privately owed and it would be great to try out. Razor burn was what we got. Never had this ever happen and she is 6. She is a very anxious dog and we warned them. They should have just stopped the haircut if they were unable to do it without hurting her. The man at the front said no it's not razor burn! Also ATTEntion*** they did not ask for any shot records!! Big red flag. All our dogs are vaccinated, but who knows what they were exposed to. $91 for razor burn. I would put zero stars but it wouldn't let me. read more

Do not board y'all's dog here!!! I had called weeks prior to leaving town to schedule boarding for my pup... emailed vaccinations records and was told I was all set. I showed up the day of and the kennel manager was SO rude... she said there were no records. Long story short I had to call my vet last minute to board my sweet girl and couldn't believe how rude this place as. These folks are wonderful. It's obvious that they truly love dogs! I have a hound dog puppy who is very sweet and playful, but he's a LOT and I often feel self conscious about how, er, enthusiastic he is, and they don't even flinch. He hates riding in the car, but once he realizes he's going to Bark Avenue he perks right up! Always a good sign. read more

The staff at Bark Avenue took excellent care of Melia our 10 year old German Shepherd. She came home sparkling clean with less hair and smelling wonderful. Our boxer and English bulldog were boarded two nights at Bark Avenue. At check in, Sean was personable and efficient. Upon check out, we were very happy to hear that they ate all their food at feedings, which is not normal because they tend to not eat when stressed. Hilary's calm and confident demeanor, along with my dogs' routine greeting additionally affirmed I had found the boarding service for us! i used the for our rat terrier to stay for a few days. The staff seemed very nice. My only complaint is I asked them to cut my dog nails and at the time of pickup I noticed the nails was cut. When brought to the staff attention my money was refunded for the nails but my problem still was not solved because the dog paws still needed to manicured. I felt like a complimentary service was in order. But they never offer to resolve it. But our pup was ok he seemed little hungry and thirty when we got home but that could have been due to missing his family. He was excited to see us!!!! read more

My last dog was very anxious while getting groomed. I feel like I took her to every groomer in Tyler, where she was always was left with cuts and/or razor burns. I finally took her to Bark Avenue and she never again had any kind of mark or injury from being groomed! It's definitely worth the drive across town with my current dog to know that she is in great hands and will not leave with any kind of injuries! I highly recommend Bark Avenue every chance I get! read more

My furbaby went into a depression when his older sister passed away. Taking him to Bark Avenue for daycare was the best thing I could've done! He was able to interact with other dogs & I knew he was in great hands. I have no problem keeping him there while I'm at work & he LOVES being there. Kind of out of the way from where we live, but totally worth it. My dog is afraid of the clippers, so I switched to Bark Avenue after having an incident with my other groomer. (Btw, I warned the Bark Avenue staff prior to taking my dog to be groomed.) They were wonderful. The groomer(s) here really has a way with dogs. They video taped my dog being groomed, and she did great! It was a little shaky at first, but the groomer was patient and kind, and took care of my dog as if it were hers. I would highly recommend this place, they know what they are doing! read more

I have taken my dog to Bark Avenue several times without a problem. When I returned recently, I arrived just prior to the time arranged for pick up. A man came out to take my payment and told me they were having a lot of problems with my pup's behavior and he was taking more time. I also, at the time, could hear the sounds of my dog yelping. About 10 minutes later the groomer brought him to me and said how good he was, but he moved and she inadvertantly cut his foot. That was not the issue. The fact that I got two stories regarding his "problem behavior" when they had always told me how wonderful he was, was upsetting and dishonest. I'm sure I'm not the only pet parent who takes their pup to a professional for grooming after we've tried ourselves to no avail. That's what I expect of a professional in their field. Honestly, I'm very disappointed and hate writing this review, but the blatant dishonesty displayed by the staff is unacceptable. I will not be returning. read more

Sean and Wendy have a wonderful facility! My dog is groomed and boarded at Bark Avenue regularly for over a year now. After the first time we left her, she has always been excited about her visits. That speaks volumes to pet owners... knowing that she is comfortable in her environment, knowing she will be cared for and loved. As her owners, we can enjoy our vacations knowing that we have left our furry baby in good hands. Like most females, I think her favorite time spent at Bark Avenue is for her spa days with Wendy and staff! She gets the full treatment-- bath, trim and nails, and always leaves looking beautiful. I would like to relay my experience with Bark Avenue in Tyler. I brought my 4 month old German Shepherd to them for a few nights. When I was checking him in I was told how they thought German Shepherds were the most troublesome dogs that they kept. Fast forward a few days When I came to pick up my dog, as I was lead back to get him, the owner told me once again how poorly they thought of German Shepherds. Fair enough it is only an opinion. When I got my dog he was very different.He appeared to be scared and his usually robust attitude was subdued. We took him home for the next few hours he would only lay on the rug and not move. I noticed that he was limping. I looked him over and found a puncture wound on his left first knuckle, and a few days afterward found 3 more puncture wounds on his back left leg. This is the part that I almost could not believe. I went back up to Bark Avenue about a week later to just let them know the shape my dog was in. The gentleman who was working up front, who identified himself as the husband of the owner asked me what I needed. I told him that I was unhappy with how my dog had been taken care of while in their care. I did not ask for anything, I was simply wanting him, as a business owner to know what had happened. He got mad a me and told me "it pisses him off because I personally took care of the dog". He argued with me and was very rude to me and seemed offended that I told him my dog had been injured while in his care. He actually told me to not bring my dog back. What! His defensiveness convinced me that he knew there had been a problem and he had knowingly with-held that information from me hoping I would not notice my dog was injured. What a way to run a business. Attack a customer who was making a legitimate complaint and asking nothing more than to be heard. There was a point he could have salvaged me as a customer. Not Now! I can not in good conscience recommend that any one uses this business. read more

I sent my dog into Barks Avenue for boarding. When I went to pick him up it was loud and my large dog was scared to death. All of his food was still in the bag the exact was I left it, like he hadn't been fed the 3 days he stayed. Barks Avenue may be inexpensive for boarding, but I recommended going to another place for boarding. I'm thankful my dog was safe, but upset that he was scared and not fed. read more
