I had a bad experience with them a few months ago, since the grooming took 3 hours and much longer than normal. I had an important appointment which I missed because of them, I was very annoyed and upset with the situation and voiced it at the time. Took my Golden Retriever in for grooming, was shown a card with different fur lengths, I chose the middle range and stated I DID NOT want her shaved down. Picked up her after 2 hours and found her completely shaved down!! Would NEVER recommend taking a dog there. While waiting, the groomer had another dog left alone up on the table and he was 3/4 of the way to completely shaved down, that should have been my first hint! read more

I was waffling between 2 1/2 and 3 stars on this one. 2 1/2 seems too low and 3 stars seems too high. That should give you an idea of what my little preamble is about. First of all, customer service is top notch but we simply can't let poor ACTUAL service go. I get some push back from my wife that it is covid and the markets are experiencing staffing issues as either blowback or as a complementing market forces related to our current recovering economy. However, some businesses have adjusted and pivoted to success, and others haven't. The dogs didn't looks good, that is to say they didn't look as good as other groomers we have taken the dogs to (this includes Petsmart). We pulled off some matts AFTER we left the groomers, which is a huge red flag. While they were given a bath and the nails and paws trimmed, they didn't look nearly as manicured as we have come to expect with teh service packages we chose with these dogs. There was also not the attention to the undercoat, tail, and chest area that is necessary with our dogs (Bernese mountain dogs/Pyrenees mixes. If the excuse is that they don't have qualified staff and that most of the staff is new (which is what the excuse was) then lower the price or focus on what staff you have that is qualified or perhaps adjust the services to be more reflective of the current staff's skillset. I have seen plenty of adjustments like this in the past two years. We have taken these two dogs to multiple groomers over the years to include four different states and we have never had them looking as slip-shop as they did yesterday, unfortunately. We will take them to our regular groomer next month when they will be available again (which is why we went to Bark Life to begin with). read more

Do not take your pet here. I took my senior cocker spaniel here because I heard they were completely cage free. With an older dog, this is something I look for because as a senior dog, he stresses out if he's put in a crate. I dropped him off at 1:15pm and by 2:15 I had gotten a text that he was ready to be picked up. When I arrived, they still had my dog in the back, so they ring me up. I tipped generously ($15 on a $65 cut) because they were so quick. That was my mistake because when they brought him out to me, I noticed AT LEAST half a dozen bleeding cuts from his "old man bumps." We had talked about a puppy cut, but I have literally NEVER seen his hair so short (this is NOT his first grooming). Not only did he have all these cuts all over, but they only cut his whiskers down on one side and he still smelled- I'm not convinced they actually gave him a bath or washing his mouth, at all. When I told the cashier that I wanted to speak to the owner she informed me they had left for the day but they would call to check in. Well, my dog was in so much pain that when I tried to help him in the car, he yelled in pain and turned to bit me- something at 12 years old he's NEVER done. As soon as we got home, he got out and had a bloody stool and was doing his extremely stressed pacing of the house. Since then, he's continued to do his nervous shake anytime I leave the house. I called the store as soon as I got home and requested the owner call me back, which he did within a matter of minutes. I explained what had happened and how upset I was and he blamed it on my dog being stressed. He offered a free cut for the next visit but there's no way I'm willing to subject my baby to whatever the heck they did to him back there. They seem really nice and clean up front, but this was by far the WORST grooming my dog has ever gotten- and that's including ones where he was crated! read more

I have used this groomer for several months. I thought they did a good job on my pets. I went to book my monthly appointment the last time I was in and found it odd that they are no longer grooming on weekends. I found it odd enough that I had a friend call about a grooming appointment. Well, as I expected they do weekend grooming instead of being honest that they simply do not want to bath a Pug, a poodle and a Blue Heeler they LIE! Oh my goodness....walking into this place was like walking into the home of one of my family members. Although it was my first visit, the staff made me feel as if they knew who I was and who my doggie Nello was. Everyone that I interacted with was extremely friendly, kind, helpful and courteous. The dog groomer Ann without hesitation just picked up Nello and started rubbing and talking to him as if they had been previously introduced. Usually Nello is not a fan of being left in the hands of groomers but he was so distracted by all the love and attention, I don't even think he realized that I even left lol I explained exactly what I wanted and I got just that. My Nello looks like a cute little puppy after his hair cut although he's 9yrs old. I do not plan on bringing my doggie anywhere else but here to get groomed. Had an awesome experience at bark life! Super friendly staff, and gave my little girl, Bijou, the best haircut she has ever had! I have become fairly picky because she has had so many odd cuts over the years, but what i described they delivered and I'm so happy! Janelle did the cut in only took 2 hours, and they even honor a military discount! They have a mobile punch card as well so that's nice to work towards even more discounts! I made a appointment for grooming, showed up on the day, date and time. I went to check in and was told they had no record of my appointment, and I even had the name of the groomer. Also note I am a new customer. Why would I show up for a appointment that I made two weeks ago because that was the first available opening and being turned away. Totally ruined my day. I had high hopes of making Bark Life my go to groomer. So apparently the computer was to blame because we all know it has a brain of its own. read more

This place is under new management and the owner has anger issues. I will not return. I had called a few days before the appt and told the woman I have just moved to the area. We talked for a while and I thought she had updated my contact information. On the day of the appt, I arrived at 12:30 pm. My initial introduction to the personnel was at the main desk. I went to check in at the main desk and the just told me no, just go on back to the groomer. With most groomers, you check in and they have you fill out a form detailing what you want done and you normally would provide the best point of contact / phone number. This place has no formal process for check in, and they do not give you an estimate upfront. Needless to say, I went to the back of the store and spoke for a little while to the groomer. From past experience, my dog likes to play with the water and can be a handful to groom. I asked if she thought the grooming would take a long time, and she said yes. I asked if she had my phone numbers and she replied we have everything. Based on the conversation, I expected it to take several hrs to groom and shave down my dog. Throughout the day I checked my cell phone ,then at 4pm I called to ask if my dog was ready. Well, the store owner lashed out at me and said we called you several times, your dog has been ready since two pm and that she was going to charge a dog sitting fee. She continued saying they are not daycare or a kennel. I have never been talked to in such an insulting way. I told her that I'll be there soon and she continued to yell at me like a child, No you get her right away. When I Got there, I asked the person at the desk who did I speak with and it was the owner of the shop. I told her that I thought she updated my information on the phone a few days before and she said she only had one phone number. I asked her if she wanted to go over the phone numbers and update them, she seemed annoyed that I even asked or approached the subject. After updating the info. I motioned to go see my dog, and she said, you pay first ~ as if I was going to steal my dog from the back room and run off without paying. I said ok and waited for them to ring up the bill... needless to say the bill was $130, no detail on the fees, mind you I brought my own shampoo from my vet, but I'm sure she charged more for holding my dog for a few hrs. I am very particular where I bring my dog and I will not return to this place. Apparently, she is not a dog lover and is not customer oriented. The former owners were very nice and I've never had issues such as this with any other groomer. I recently stopped in to ask if I had made a grooming appt. The store in Saint Petersburg is under new management/owner. She is not customer friendly. I had walked in before the store opened, (the door was opened so I walked in.) She was busy, I asked if I had an appt.for grooming. She was bothered and replied 'we are not opened yet' realizing that I had walked in before time, I apologized. I told her "I thought I had an appt. and wanted to confirm" . She proceeded to do her thing! andtold me too come back or call. Really...!?..she miss the first day of "management school"!! Perhaps she could have smiled and say...."I'll take a look, and would b more than happy to call you". I walked out and don't plan to return anytime soon. Love Ann! She is a great groomer.
