From the first phone call, they reassured us that her reactivity wouldn't be an issue, which gave us a lot of peace of mind, especially since this was her first time being boarded. Chai is usually very cautious with new people, but she surprised us by calmly greeting both Olivia and Joel and happily walking to the back without hesitation. That alone spoke volumes about how comfortable she felt there. We picked her up three days later and could tell she had a great stay. Not many people probably take their cat to the groomer, but Penelope is a big girl and doesn't do a great job cleaning herself and all her LONG hair. Joel a Bark 'N Purr has been brushing, bathing, and cutting Penelope's nails for three years now and she does not protest at all. She loves Joel and he does a fantastic job. We had a mini vacation in Sedona this past week. Our dog was with us and we needed daycare so we could go on local tours. Weeks before we left I contacted Bark N' Purr and booked him for daycare. Of course we were concerned with leaving our old boy, but reading the reviews helped us make this choice. We were extremely happy with the care he received for the days he spent with them. He is 12 and has many "old age" ailments. Upon our arrival they were so welcoming and asked all the right questions about him and his needs. So I have a golden doodle and she has massive anxiety and we left for vacation to come back to her having knots in her beautiful coat. We took her to this place hesitantly..I had a friend who took her dog and her dog had to go get three stitches for a cut the groomer gave her! The owner was super nice but the groomer herself was rude and dismissive. We picked up our dog and she seemed fine, until she started being very aggressive, ate glass, tried biting us, and peed everywhere! Then j noticed she has a huge scab on her ear, then I found another on her other ear and on her neck! They cut her! The one on her right ear is crazy big and some of the scab cane off for us to only find raw skin. It's too bad the owner is a nice man bc the groomer is horrendous. I should have trusted my first instinct after what happened to my friends dog. If you love your dog, don't have them groomed by this woman. read more

Excellent day boarding experience! We were on vacation in Sedona staying at a RV resort and wanted to do some things where we could not take our dog along. We dropped our dog off for day boarding 2 days in a row. The second day we dropped him off he was excited to go in and happy to see his friends from the day before. The facility was clean. The process was quick and easy to get our dog set up for boarding and the people who work here are very friendly. On a recent trip to Arizona, my husband and I wanted to spend the day shopping in Sedona. We were traveling with our 3-month-old Goldendoodle, Nala, and did not want to drag her around in the heat all day. Bark N Purr was amazing. Not only did they have the availability the last minute because their facility is quite large, they were able to give my baby a bath, clip her nails, etc. She was very well taken care of. We brought our Yorkie with us on a road trip to Sedona and needed to board him for 2 nights since he wasn't allowed at our resort. We found Bark N'purr and are very happy we discovered it. The people were very friendly here, and although it is not the cage-free boarding that we usually leave our dog in, he wasn't cramped in a small kennel - he had a larger cage to himself in which he could actually walk around and stretch out. I told them he had occasional lower back pain so please be careful. Instead of calling me and telling me he was unable to withstand clipping they forced him and almost crippled him. He couldn't walk for 3 days. I told friends of mine. Apparently they boarded their 2 dogs here this year and opted to pay for daily turnout. They were NOT told the run had Giardia in it and returned home to two very sick dogs. Bark and purr blamed the owners for choosing to turn out. What a great place, I came down for my Birthday weekend and was traveling with my fur babies and wanted to do some hiking but due to the recentt snow didn't want to subject them to the climate. I honestly can not say enough good things about the Bark 'n Purr. We had our poochon there recently for doggie daycare as well as overnight during our Sedona visit. She received excellent care from a staff that truly loves the animals they care for. The facility was well organized and the kennels were very clean. Our dog was allowed to have her own bed, toys, treats and favorite diet. She was walked regularly, spent time in their yard area and I really began to feel like she was enjoying her stay which, of course, made it easier for me to enjoy Sedona! Several times we mentioned to local residents that our dog was boarded here and each time the person knew the facility and said it was simply the best place to board a pet. On the last day of boarding we had our Poochon groomed and she came out looking adorable! We boarded our dog with Bark 'N Purr the first time we went to Sedona. We took her out in the day for hiking and other activities (this was pretty easy considering how dog-friendly Sedona is) and took her back to be boarded before Bark 'N Purr closed. Joel and his staff are very professional, easygoing, and flexible! They didn't care what time we picked up or dropped off their dog, as long as it was within business hours. In fact, Joel personally allowed us to drop off our dog off-hours the first day we arrived in Sedona since we couldn't get in early enough during their business hours. The dog kennels are VERY large and have an outdoor area they have access to for doing doggie business. We also took advantage of their grooming services right before we left Sedona, a week of hiking meant our dog smelled up to high heaven. Their grooming services are also amazing! Our dog was so cleaned and stopped with the excessive shedding for about 3 months. Their prices are so reasonable (though I know they are a little high during peak season in Sedona) and we were very happy with our experience. We highly recommend Bark 'N Purr if you're ever in the Sedona area and need boarding and/or grooming services! We will definitely be back the next time we're in Sedona. read more

We were passing through Sedona moving across country with our pet and staying at a "pet friendly" hotel, but upon check in were turned away because we had a mini, tiny, cat and cats were not allowed. Thankfully we found bark and purr! The staff there was incredible. Extremely friendly, animal loving staff. They showed us where our cat would stay (seperate from large dogs) and took great care of her. They were well aware of her behaviors and eating patterns. It was our first time dropping her off at a kennel and she did great with the clean environment and helpful staff. While we normally travel with our dogs we had an unexpected event needing us to consider boarding one of our dogs. We called to inquire about day car for him for a day but circumstances evolved to two days of boarding. The staff was absolutely awesome to deal with, we would not hesitate to use their facility again. We especially liked the fact that they had outdoor access rather than being in a "sterile" suite-like environment in an enclosed building. Upon pick up our dog was clean and happy! Hands down, this is the best day boarding/ grooming business I have ever taken my dog to. I visited Sedona for 5 days with my dog, Abbey. I wanted to mountain bike during the day and knew Abbey do best not joining me. Abbey is super timid and is unbearable shy and scared of.... basically anyone- especially men. I arrived to drop Abbey off and the front office ( Whitney ) was welcoming and so sweet to both me and Abbey. Abbey had a great time, and even played with the other dogs! The second ( of the 3 days Abbey boarded with them ), the owner, a man, came out to welcome us. Abbey, although a bit apprehensive, could pick up on his kindness and was not scared of him. Abbey was groomed on her second day with Bark N Purr, and she has never looked better. A+ groomer! I would absolutely take Abbey back to Bark N Purr. I've lived in the Sedona area for 6 years and have boarded my 70-lb Dutch Shepherd there several times a year plus had her groomed regularly. Joel and Jana are competent and friendly, and provide individual attention to boarders. My Grace originally wasn't keen on the whole doggie hotel idea, but now she acts like she's just visiting extended family. Grace is now having end-of-life issues with hip problems and a tumor, and I was anxious to leave her needing delicate handling and pills several times a day. I shouldn't have worried...when I picked her up after 6 days she was happy and perkier than I'd seen her for awhile. And grooming there has always been excellent. We boarded two dogs and a cat for four nights while we were vacationing in Sedona. One of the dogs was a 4 mo old puppy. We were concerned that they would get some exercise and some attention and we were so so happy with the care at Bark & Purr. We can certainly tell if our "kids" are stressed when we pick them up and it was just the opposite here. They were so happy to see us but just so relaxed. They'd obviously had a good time. AND our older lab got a pedi-cure and the cat got brushed- just a full service 4 days. We hate to leave them. They're family. But when we have to, we hope we can always find a spot like Bark & Purr. The facility was clean, the staff was courteous, everyone obviously loved animals and we loved the fact that this is a family run operation with people on site everyday. A big thumbs up. read more
